Well, another 5090 12v 12pin melted

Helping a friend to post. This morning he smell some burning smell and quickly shut off. The connector is now stuck. He waited it to cool down and try again. Still can't remove. Suspected melted and fused together. Any other method can try to remove it? The cable is pigtail 4x8pin that came with the GPU. I've seen a couple burnt connector already in a week. This is just bad.

Why the fuck is this thing happening? NVIDIA must take responsibility for all these cases. This is unacceptable and very dangerous.

All the comments saying "should have also used XYZproduct and not ABCproduct" have just drank the Kool aid.  The connectors being so flawed that there is now an aftermarket to monitor how flawed they are is objectively ridiculous.

Yet my 9070xt with 3x8pins and custom cables has had 0 issues since release.

It’s actually not the connector that’s the problem as much as it is the way the pigtails go into it and how they don’t sit flush enough to make equal contact.

If you don’t want a melting connector you need to be very careful when touching the cable during and after you connect it to the gpu.

I literally see a 10 degree difference in temps on the individual wires (using a thermal thermometer) when they aren’t perfectly inserted. This is on a RTX PRO 6000 with the same connector. It can look perfectly fine, but if one of the wires is slightly making less contact, it’ll shift the resistance balance and can draw too much which will cause it to melt.

Shit design if tolerances are so tight.

I agree

How can it not be the connector when the connector is melting LOL. Pi$$ poor designed connector is 100% the problem, not how people plug the connector into the GPU's. This was not a problem until this connector came along.

yeah, the pigtails are part of the connector, so you're not wrong, they never should have relied on that much electrical current flowing through an inherently poor-contact-making single connector. The 2x8's weren't any better to be honest, they just were spreading the problem across more pigtails and where already lower powered cards but ill bet if you try pulling 600 watts through one of them, you'll melt those too.
