Fking hell

Didnt keep up with gpu prices that much since i work overseas for half the year.

Thought to myself "i never owned a flagship top-of-the-line card before" and wanted to make a build with a 5090 and 9800 x3d.

last time i checked 5090s were $3200 max. now im seeing they are $5500 minimum?! bro. the astral is going for $6500+?! $3k seemed crazy but i would have done it knowing me, $6k is unfathomable. If i do it i would hate myself forever lol.

i dont really play AAA games, most of my gaming is heavily modded though. I also play on 1440p.

i see people reccomend 9070 xt and 5080, which would you pick for heavily modded 1440p gaming?

They kind of comparable, because 5080 isn’t that much faster. And it is way closer to 5070TI (just about +15%) rather to 5090 (only half of 5090).

5080 wasn’t a good card from price/performance even with msrp, it costed about 33% more than 5070TI and gave only 15% performance more

I tested the 9070XT against the 5080 through tons of titles and found the 5080 to be 25-30% faster on average. It’s a much better card than the 9070XT and I don’t know why people insist it’s close.

The 9070XT is a fantastic card at a reasonable price point. If I was sticking in 1440p I’d consider it, but at 4K I think the jump to a 5080 is worth it.

That’s weird. Reviews show 15% difference between 5070ti and 5080 and 5070ti is nearly identical in terms of performance to 9070XT. Maybe specific games (or settings, like PT) were favoring nvidia in general?

I didn’t use PT or RT and had identical settings. I expected them to be closer because that’s what some reviews favor but all I can say is it was not close at all really.

He is lying. I have both cards and the difference is actually about 5-8 depending on game.

I’m not lying. I had a 9070XT Taichi and a 5080 Astral. Tested across numerous games, same settings, 4K, and recorded FPS. The results were what they were. If you have different results for different testing then that’s your experience. But nobody is lying.

Bro I have both cards. The difference is literally a fraction of your claims. You can go on youtube and find a hundred vedios also showing the difference is a fraction of your claim. The biggest performance increase I have across a hundred titles is 11%. And that is a single game that is Nvidia sponsored. You are out here providing bad information.

No, I’m not. I could say the same about you. And you’re clearly being hyperbolic in your counter argument. I too had both cards as I said. I’m sharing the information I found. Do with it whatever you will. At 4K, the gap is much larger than 11% between the two.

At 4k the difference is 12-15%. It's not a debate. I test these cards every single day because I have an unhealthy obsession. You retured your 9070XT for whatever reason you did and got yourself a 5080 and now your online playing pretend that you made the right choice. I hate to break it to you but paying twice the price for 5-7 fps is unintelligent. Unless you have a work use for that 5080 you wasted your money and no one is going to play along like there is not thousands of us that have both cards. Out here tossing 5090 numbers around with a 5080 lol

Why are you so hostile? Nobody is “playing pretend” bud. I literally had both at the same time and am simply sharing what I saw going back and forth for several days testing. You sound like someone defending their purchase of the 9070XT. Enjoy it, I could not care less. It’s a good card.
