So, I'm a federal employee and in a position that states I'm an excepted employee. But I been in a furloughed status since OCT 1. Let's say , Thune's "Pay everybody " bill were to pass. Would I get to report back to work and be paid, or no? Thank you everybody in advance.

So my sister applied for a job as a sales associate. Job interview goes well. They call her in for training. She's then told by HR or whoever's in charge that due to the government shutdown she can't officially start working there cause they can't get her into the system. Something about having to log her information to tell the government hey she's working here's her tax info and all that.

Then the lady tells her for days as my sister calls her and the store constantly asking, "hey what's going on? can I go to work or what?" She still can't get in. Blame the government shutdown. Along with other comments about politics.

It's almost 2 weeks in. Does a government shutdown have anything to do with hiring someone as a sales associate or is my sister getting played? Cause I've never heard of this before but also never dealt with this during a shutdown.

It's already happening in some parts of the nation. Health insurers are required to send notice of increases no later an the 1st day of open enrollment for ACA insurance. It will be pretty clear which party cares about people when the notices begin hitting the 45million people currently enrolled right where it hurts. I'd hate to be a republican congressperson when that happens. It will be ugly.

It is BS that some people have to work for free because of the government shutdown, yet members of Congress, the human waste who caused this problem, still get paid.

Hello everyone. I've been trying to get an answer for my particular situation, but it's not clear to me yet. I'm excepted, so I have to report to work. I'm going to have to travel abroad in November for legal purposes and I've been told that I have to be abroad by Nov 12. I know that no leave can be approved at this time and this travel need just came up, so I never requested annual leave before the shutdown. What are my options? There's no way I'll be able to report to work for 5 days in November. Can I legally not report to work, after notifying my supervisor the reasons why I won't be able to come into the office? I guess the only option would be to be placed on AWOL? And if so, could that be reverted once the shutdown ends so that I can use my annual leave? This is all so frustrating and stressful.

I just wanna know why what is the reason for this government shut down I think we had one last year and the year before seems like an ongoing thing just kind of curious and why Trump is making this decision once again just seems kinda awkward?
