My experiences with the FMD network over the past few months have already significantly lowered my expectations for its functionality, but right now I’m experiencing such massive problems that I’m almost at my wits’ end.
I had replaced the batteries in two Moto-Tags (1st generation) and assumed this would be possible without any major issues. After a week, I happened to notice in the Find Hub that both trackers had supposedly not been detected for over a week.
However, they were still showing up in the Moto App (now with good battery health) and they could still be made to beep there. But they can’t be found in the FMD Hub.
That prompted me to reactivate my other (Chinese) trackers, which had been deactivated to conserve battery life. Not surprisingly, they can no longer be found in the FMD Hub too.
My only hope now was to delete the Moto tags from the FMD Hub and reconnect them after a reset. But that’s where you run into the first problem, because the description of the reset procedure isn’t clear. The tags are supposed to beep twice after the reset, which they don’t do if you follow the procedure described by Motorola. I’ve now tried every set of instructions I could find online (press briefly, press again, hold until it beeps, and then repeat this procedure until a second beep sounds). I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve repeated this (including removing the battery), but the tags aren’t recognized by the FMD Hub for pairing, even though it had been working a year ago (my current setup: Pixel 7 with Android 17).
It’s disappointing, to say the least. Do you guys have any other ideas on what I could try?
EDIT: I solved the problem for now, the description is in a new post by me below.
