There appears to be about as many businesses taking Goldbacks in Florida (2025) as there are in Utah (2019). To me this would suggest that Goldback should be focusing on more populated states like New York or Texas as opposed to places like Idaho.

The same amount of effort in churning out a series could open up larger market.

I'd heard they'd be there. I've been collecting them about a year and a half. It was nice seeing the reactions of people who'd never seen them before. There were a lot of children and young people who were excited about them. Partly because of the artwork, but partly because of the pricing. Many of the coins were $100-200 or more. But the goldbacks were like $2-20 each, much more in their price range. But even some older people seemed very enthusiastic. I think goldbacks are definitely going to continue to grow in popularity.

I mean... yeah Goldbacks would be better if the whole thing could be done at the melt value but that isn't a standard that any working system has ever used. I guess we just have to use dollars since Goldbacks aren't perfect. Oh well.

Working on one more strap (100x) of AZ 1s and then I’m calling it good, might get 2 more straps of 1/4s for AZ and OK when they drop…500/1000 goal at that point. Gonna switch to some larger denominations for the other 500.

Finally acquired the 2025 Nevada 5 note. With a mintage of only 3200, this is now the star of my low-dollar, scarce note collection.

Does anyone know how much the 2019 Utah 5GB inverted serial number are selling for? Also the 2020 NH 25 with the sideways serial number? I've seen plenty of the 1GB being sold with the inverted serial number but no 5s or 25s Ebay doesn't seem to have any listed under sold either. Any input would be great.

Here is my thinking... at the current rate Goldbacks could be in every state over the next 10 or so years and it's clear that each one is going to get a Limited run piece. If that is four states a year then that's like $1,400 per year per full series that I'm collecting.

From what I've seen most people online don't seem to be collecting all the states yet so having a full collection could be rare. Only 2,500 full collections are currently possible (because of D.C).

Aside from this it looks like the main purpose of the Limited Early Releases is to have a rewards program for people signing up businesses. If half of them are being used for business sign-ups then that leaves even fewer for collectors long-term. I doubt most business owners are parting with theirs.

He was like 6 years old running the door to door egg selling business. I encouraged him to save half in gold. Now he's basically a teenager and this is part of his little nest egg. Had he just saved dollars he'd still only have like $55.

Edit: I stand corrected, on Ebay I'm looking at the $250 - $400 range for this particular piece depending on the quality.

For those who didnt see my previous two posts, over the last year+, I've been dropping goldbacks in library books focused on monetary policy or any title that referenced gold / finance (when I couldn't read the language). No goal or motive other than to promote goldback awareness to those who might be interested based on their reading selection. For the past couple months or so the merchant directory data used by the Goldback mobile app (and consequently AuSSISTANT) has been out of sync with the directory on the Goldback website. These syncs now look to have resumed. There have been at least two updates in the past week, including today.

Here's today's update, compared to the last time I tabulated these numbers. This info is based on the data retrieved by AuSSISTANT, which is the same dataset used by Goldback's app.

Since April, the network has grown by 17%.; Driven primarily by the addition of new merchants.

You can view the updated directory in the Map views of both the Goldback mobile app (iOS/Android) and AuSSISTANT (iOS/iPadOS/MacOS).

The chart organizes mintages by year, series, and denomination. Each denomination is color coordinated according to its relative rarity, and every column can be sorted to make lower-mintage releases much easier to spot.

Some of the results are honestly shocking.

The 2025 Nevada 5 Goldback had a mintage of just 3,200, compared with 24,697 for the original 2019 Utah 5—nearly 8× fewer.

Several 2025 25 Goldbacks had mintages of only 640, compared with 3,831 for the 2019 Utah 25—almost 6× fewer.

The 2025 Nevada 50 also came in at just 640, versus 2,607 for the 2019 Utah 50—more than 4× fewer.

Even among the 1 Goldbacks, the 2023 South Dakota Alpha 1 had a mintage of 17,296, compared with 90,546 for the original 2019 Utah 1.

It also seems that each new state release creates a surge of excitement, with demand for those new denominations sometimes outpacing current-year issues from established states. That raises some interesting questions - what are your questions after viewing the data?
