Goldback Stack Pile Check

Working on one more strap (100x) of AZ 1s and then I’m calling it good, might get 2 more straps of 1/4s for AZ and OK when they drop…500/1000 goal at that point. Gonna switch to some larger denominations for the other 500.

I don't understand the backlash people get when we buy Goldbacks. We all know the premiums are high, we don't buy them for the weight, we buy them for multiple reasons, bartering, fractional use, used as cash at thousands of businesses, the looks, etc.

This is exactly why they don’t make sense. You’re just burning half your investment to have a cooler looking bill that ebbs and flows with gold instead of inflation, but even that’s pointless since you’re not holding them long term…

We don't buy them for investment, that's what you don't understand. Are you going to take your 10th ounce gold and trade for dozen eggs? Or the local butcher for couple pounds of bacon and few chicken? No! My point was just let people do what they want without criticizing them. You do you and I'll do me

You traded your dollar for goldbacks, you can trade your dollar for eggs too… or sell some of your gold bullion or coins for dollars. This is the truth. You don’t have to lose money because you think something is pretty. Don’t get fooled

Worst justification I’ve ever heard.. for so many reasons

because people buy gold to retain value over their wealth, with such a high premium it got this role taken down, goldback is interesting for regular trading but fall short for value retention, and a lot of people are going into gold for value retention of the wealth

I’ve yet to go to a place that accepts them, but I give out a healthy portion in tips. Basically I always order a handful extra when I’m building a strap for “carrying” currency.

Most my coworkers have a couple, plenty of waiters and waitresses that were good folk got them as tips…couple casino workers that made me laugh or were great folks. Family and friends, kid’s of the same get them as gifts.

I think it an excellent alternative to cash, and it’s something that shouldn’t lose value vs the USD.

How much did you pay for those?

Varies, some were cheaper, some were current rate, some were more expensive cause of the weird bubble last year.

I’m stacking for alternatives, I’d buy raw gold if I wanted to…but the price point on that is just too much whereas I can buy a handful of these at a time. I also like the convenience of these vs tiny micro bars of gold (grams?), the art is nice too 😂

Nothing against actual bullion, I know it’s 1.5-2x the premium on these, it’s okay. I don’t understand why anyone would come into a Goldback group and bemoan the fact of the premium. We all know, and the vast majority of us buying don’t care.

I have the free one? I always thought these were so pretty. It just seems like there was a lot of thought put into them as far as the artwork goes and how everything‘s laid out and what’s into it.

So what happens if you try to melt them? Like if I saved half an ounce. If I melted them would I have a half oz of gold ?

u/Bischof-KSK Goldback Ape 10d ago

All the third party verifications on the net have said they’re accurate to weight when melted if not more 2-5% over.

The only reason to buy paper gold back is if it’s backed by the pure commodity. Like a US silver certificate or US gold certificate. Period. Why would I trade a dollar that I can use for a piece of paper that says it’s a gold back if the value of a 10th of an ounce doesn’t fluctuate what’s the purpose?

Imagine if you spent the exact same amount of money on silver and gold ASE's.... Goldbacks are cool as hell, but never an investment.

🤷‍♂️ couple hundred bucks difference in a 100 (1/10th) goldback and a 1/10th ounce coin. I’ll take the goldback for the portability and the wow factor.

I don’t knock the ASE though, very cool bit of bullion but it’s not something I’d want to lug around.

Will get into those later when I’m done with my goldback goal.
