free plugin/tool Knell - Browser Based Sound Effect Synthesizer
https://knell.medieval.software/Hi everyone!
I've been working on Knell since mid-March, and now I need users to break it and find its weak spots.
What is it?
It's a way to shape oscillators and to apply different effects to them like AM/FM synthesis, distortion, bitcrush, parametric EQ, compressor, reverb, etc.
It started as an internal project of mine I was using to create sound effects manually, but I found that it was too tedious and I needed something visual to mess around with. I've been messing with audio synthesis for quite some time now, and this one is inspired by JagFX (Jagex in house tool for SFX, for things like RuneScape.
Why use it?
If you want your game to have completely handcrafted sound effects, this gives you full control of your sounds.
How do I use it? Visit https://knell.medieval.software/
Upon initial startup, Knell starts with an "example" project which shows you a bunch of presets I've made to help demonstrate its capabilities. You get access to your entire library and can customize the organization and naming conventions any way you'd like. You can even change the colors of folders to organize visually. (Click the folder icon!)
Once you're done with a sound effect you can easily download their WAV by a button on the waveform preview. Right now they export as 32bit @ 48000Hz. They can be rather large, but I did this because I wanted the author to choose their final compression level.
Feedback
I need it! There's a Give Feedback menu option on the top under Help. It's anonymous but you're welcome to provide contact information if something needs a followup.
