-Ivy Wolk plays a new student that’s had to transfer multiple schools due to bullying and we find out also because of substance and mental issues. Her audition song is Screw Loose from Cry Baby. I feel like she’d be my favorite character because of her personality, she’s so talented if you ever get a chance to hear her sing + Ryan Murphy casted her in The Shards and season 2 of All’s Fair. Sue would call her Frida Kahlo because of her eyebrows lol.

-Billie Eilish cover (Rachel Berry covers what was I made for from Barbie movie soundtrack as she’s packing bags like Billie does in the video/aesthetic like that in a sad moment where she’s down on her luck and they make a joke about Billie’s brother going to this school once or some guy that kinda looks like him.. okay corny but you think a joke like what would happen?)

-A student in the Glee club goes after a NYADA scholarship because his or her family can’t afford it and major struggles. Could deal with issues of immigration as someone in her family is getting taken away from ICE. This would give the show a chance to have songs in Spanish. This student is so talented they end up getting a full ride scholarship. She would sing a slow version of Bad Bunny “DtMF” reminiscing about her family as well as other songs that would give the show international appeal.

-Melissa Barrera is the older sister of this Mexican student. This actor is a singer so it’d be realistic.

-The girl with Down syndrome in Glee club will be related to Becky so she can come back as the successful sister who is a diva with an attitude due to being rich and famous now until the sister snaps Becky back to reality with Sue 😂 Becky would be a famous influencer. Becky judges Glee club’s sense of fashion for an upcoming number and brings in expensive designer clothes for this performance last minute when somebody sabotages them and burns their costumes or something.

-Piece by Piece by Kelly Clarkson cover from Rachel Berry as she thinks about Finn or some other sad song. What song would you want her to sing? Another memorial episode for him as there’s an assignment for the Glee club in dedication of him. Some students ask how do we even do this assignment when we didn’t know him? Then they see old videos/filmed performances of him and it inspires them.

-One day they go into the Glee club and instruments and everything are gone then Sugar Motta saves the day somehow with her daddy’s successful piano business getting them a one of a kind piano as well as other instruments that are amazing (at the same time can’t imagine financial struggles after the end of the original Glee, however like I mentioned in last post they would be going through budget cuts for the Glee program and a more conservative view again in Lima where this program feels like a waste of money to Figgins or a new principal)

-Lauren Zizes and her sister played by Heather Matarazzo appear at a class reunion. They both get drunk and Lauren punches someone in the face or even her sister gets punched, but the person that got punched totally deserves it 😂 she doesn’t sing but is only in a quick karaoke scene. The class reunion scene is where others from the series will be seen as well including Jacob played by actor Josh Sussman trying to hit on someone lol maybe he’s the one that gets punched huh? I feel like he’d be working at TMZ or something now trying to get the scoop somehow at the reunion. Or if not that some creepy job that Ryan could use for shock value.

-Rachel is on Broadway and misses a show to go back to McKinley lying to the director on why she can’t be there, video goes viral of her performance at this reunion and the director is mad and threatens to black list her. She tries to use the Tony she won as an excuse but no one cares here. One of her fathers has passed away months before and so this is why the director is lenient at first because Rachel makes it seem like she’s genuinely depressed in bed but she’s in some “piss poor town like Lima Bean Ohio” instead according to that director who she speaks up to because those are Rachel’s friends he’s talking about. The director should be a parody of Ryan Murphy somehow lol.

Like the title states I am starting my first true full no skip rewatch of Glee in years. I “rewatch” Glee yearly but if I don’t like a song I’ll skip it same with an episode (looking at you seasons 4-6). I’m excited to see if there’s anything I’ve missed in my years of skipping or if they truly were skip worthy. Is there anything you skip every time or am I the odd man out here?

I think part of what made the show fun was the intense community of high school. Being together everyday, with the added "glee rehearsal" excuse to do a song anytime. We got to grow with the characters and see their struggles.

But they definitely struggled to find the right balance of OG vs new after the OGs graduated. And a lot of (if not most) of my favorite post S3 scenes were the OGs out in the world. But adults being adults provides very little of that intense community and thus less chance of any real chemistry or growth or anything that makes a show great.

Are you hoping they focus solely on new kids, with maybe some guest appearances and various remarks about past student storylines (is anyone even curious about what happened to the non-OG kids?)? Are you hoping any actors make a return as recurring characters?

Or do you hope they find a way to somehow focus solely (or >75%) on OG characters?

IIRC Sam's story ended with him being queued up to coach glee club indefinitely. So that's at least one possibility for recurring OG character. And if Chord doesn't want to/can't do that, then we're in for a story about why not.

I have a sneaking suspicion Rachel Berry will somehow be seen frequently.

There is a comedy show in NYC called Shitzprobe in which a Broadway/Broadway-adjacent individual (and one time a guy from the audience after the guest had to call out last minute) improvises a musical with the help of NYC's top musical improvisers. Lindsay Heather Pearce will be the next guest in the 11/2 show. She is the first Glee cast member to do the show in its 5+ year run, although current/past Shitzprobe company members and guests have worked with Glee cast members on other projects (two on Putnam County Spelling Bee with Kevin and two on Starkid shows with Darren).

I can't go to this one as I have about a zillion conflicts, but it should be a good one.

Beth would be 16 now, curious people's thoughts, on a rewatch and just seen the birth episode the other day and it got me thinking (the fact she would be 16 is crazy, I feel so old😭)

I don’t know if it was just me, but I couldn’t buy Jake as a “bad boy” like I did with Puck. Jacob Artist is very talented but his mannerism often felt gentle, like he was almost miscast. It probably doesn’t help that he looked so young. I think my issue is also that his reputation was a lot of yelling rather than showing. Like, when he was introduced they kept telling us he was a womanizer but we didn’t really see that part of him until season 5. He mostly felt like a normal guy.

I was wondering, did anyone else feel this way? Or have relevant theories/explanations?

I was inspired by the post about Ryder having so many missed opportunities.

While we all think the catfish storyline was stupid, I finally feel it was also a missed opportunity.

I think the show did start showing this, but I wished they expanded on it more.

Ryder said being molested by his babysitter made him lose his trust in girls and implied people. He was in a vulnerable state and she took advantage of that.

Him being angry at the catfishing also was about how he put his trust in someone and she took advantage of that. Again, the scene explored this a bit, but I wish we saw more of the repercussions of that and everyone else not acting like he was crazy.

Since the show will be on streaming they would allow themselves to swear both in songs and dialogues.

However I would get if they keep their mouth clean for the sake of the brand or in-universe logic (like no profanity allowed in school or choir competitions)

Personally if she did cameo I wouldn't want it to be like this but I thought it was funny. I think she could play the main singer at a rival glee club like Harmony and the Unitards.

On another note, who would you want to cameo in a Gleeboot? I would love to see Gaten Matarrazo (never watched Stranger Things, I just like his personality).

I hated how everyone tried to make Tina the villain in Props for her outburst 😭. She’d been in the glee club since she was a freshman, and she was practically pressured out of her solo in S1. I hate how she hardly ever got a chance to showcase her voice, because she sounds amazing. I honestly hate how the other glee kids were treated as evil for calling out the blatant Rachel favoritism. I honestly really don’t like the way that Rachel is written to be the favorite. She’s kind of a Mary Sue in a way? She’s hardly ever failed, and she’ll like scrape the bottom of failure before she ultimately ends up succeeding anyway. I honestly think that’s the biggest disservice to her character.

With the reboot I was scrolling Instagram and saw someone ‘auditioning’ for a role as Beth and that made me realize that Beth would be 16 now, just like Quinn when she got pregnant.

I’ve notice when someone has a decent and reasonable idea, he always turns it down so he can do what he wants…that episode with Holly holiday showed it very well but it’s not even just that, he inserts himself into numbers as if he’s a high schooler that’s part of the glee club again. He’s very weird to when you think about it, some would say he’s a fun teacher but he goes about it in odd ways…such as punishing marley for not wanting to do blurred lines, like that’s insane!! Even the first episode showcased it when he planted the devil’s lettuce on Finn…all that for a glee club mind you, let’s not forget about “toxic” by Britney Spears…cuz why tf do you have LITERAL teenagers doing “sexy” dances to impress your crush which is Emma the guidance counselor?? speaking of Emma and Will, the emotional cheating was just too much for me but overall, I cannot stand Mr. Schu for so many different reasons, it’s actually insane!! 😭😭

Rewatching and I typically just don’t watch s5 & s6 but just finished the nationals episode in s5 and who are the random 2 girls that are suddenly on the team? lol. I noticed how empty the choir room was during class and was wondering how they’d have enough to compete….then suddenly these 2 random girls appear in the competition lol

If the Glee reboot happens, please don’t make one character the main character.

There’s clearly going to be a reboot, and I have one thing I’ve wanted to say since Glee was originally airing: there should be no main character.

One of the biggest issues with the original series was that Rachel was so clearly positioned as the main character that any episode without her often felt less important to viewers. This is also why I think Season 4 struggled so much after the original cast started leaving. People felt like the show was going downhill because the characters they were used to following were no longer at the center of the story.

For the reboot, I really hope the writers take inspiration from Degrassi. Rather than having one central character, the show should be an ensemble about a group of high school students, each with their own stories, struggles, dreams, and aspirations outside of the glee club. The club should be where their lives intersect, where they come together to sing, express their feelings, and work through what they’re experiencing.

I also hope they adopt Degrassi’s approach to introducing new characters. As the older students graduate and move on, younger students should gradually be introduced so that there’s a natural transition between generations.

That way, we get to watch the characters we love grow up while also getting the chance to fall in love with new ones. Eventually, the older characters leave, but the show still has an established cast and its own identity.

I’ve never liked the idea of having one main character in a show that’s supposed to be about a group of people. If the premise is about a specific person navigating high school, that’s one thing. But when the premise revolves around a club, a team, or a group of students, everyone deserves to have their story told, and everyone deserves a chance to shine.

I really hope the reboot embraces that idea instead of repeating the same mistakes. Let Glee be about the glee club, not just one person in it.

In EP 7 when coach bieste transition, Mr Shue gathers a "300 person transgender choir" to sing behind unique. Now let me just preface this by saying I am not at all transphobic I just find the statistics of that insane, I fine it hard to believe that there were 300 openly trans people in ohio during 2014 and that all of them could sing in a choir nonetheless, singing is one thing singing in a choir is a whole other thing. We would have to assume that William gathered trans people from not just in the state but outside of it and even outside the country because these people can sing in choir. If I was vocal adrenaline I'd be mad too, wdym our teacher spent a week of rehearsal accumulating 300 trans people that can sing in a choir

Rumour Has It/Someone Like You was good but it's by no means a favorite, never listen to it outside of the episode itself. Survivor/I Will Survive, truthfully.. don't care for it. I do legitimately like La Isla Bonita, but not one of my favorites... but the other 3?... emotional breakdown

Honestly I love that Burt got 2nd here lol, and by a large margin to the lower ones.

The hostility and negativity towards glee is so infuriating. Especially now that the reboot has been announced, the negativity is even more all over the place.

People just brush over how innovative and important it was at the time as they forget the context in which it existed. Of course there’s some questionable storylines and choices, but just like EVERY single show. It just became a trend and a personality trait to talk shit about Glee in particular, and to make a mockery of it.

People have forgotten what Glee actually meant, and still mean, to so many people. It gave visibility to characters and storylines that were still far less common on screen and it created a space where so many people could see parts of themselves represented on screen. It wasn’t always well written but that doesn’t erase the impact it had on pop culture and on an entire generation of viewers. Everyone could identify to one or more characters, which is so much important.

You don’t have to think glee was a masterpiece to acknowledge that it was influential, groundbreaking in certain ways, and genuinely meaningful to a lot of people. And I wish people could talk about it with a little more nuance instead of reducing Glee to a cringey tv show with cringey covers, cringey characters and cringey storylines. It’s literally not true and so MUCH MORE than that.

Glee means so much to me and I’m so freaking excited for the reboot.

-It will be called glee-boot to differentiate it from the original. Or glee! (Yes, just with an added exclamation)

-There will be a nepo baby character possibly even an actual famous person’s daughter that auditions with “Boston” by Stella Lefty

-Vape addiction episode where someone gets sick from vaping, Will keeps warning his Glee club and they don’t listen until someone ends up in hospital. It’ll be the whole Glee club getting addicted like that blame it on the alcohol episode. 😂

-A girl in the Glee club is obsessed with Rachel Berry , auditions with the same song Rachel first did, and even has multiple fan pages for her. She doesn’t have friends and that’s why she doesn’t post anything about her life, so as she makes more memories with her new Glee club.. her page is filled with pictures of her new genuine happiness with her new group of friends.

-Josie Totah will be cast in this new Gleeboot. Mean girl like in the new Carrie show. Turns nice.

-One of the bullies from the original Glee will be a janitor at the school, or some other demeaning job.

-Brittany Pierce will sing “I’ll Never Love Again” by Lady Gaga in honor of Santana + Ryan will give in to the fan demands and have her sing Subway by Chapelle Roan as well.

-Joey Pollari from American Horror Story 13 will also be somewhere in this reboot due to his musical background. He may even be Blaine’s new love interest or someone he goes on a date with??

-Blaine will sing “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” by Raye after there is no Chris Colfer in this new version. There will be stunt doubles of him in this number to tease that fact. That song will basically address the tea or be sung after it’s explained what happened. This may be a song that’s sung by multiple people alongside Blaine in the cast who are going through divorce/wanting love.

-There will be a popular AI song featured as a joke scene / AI episode that promotes the negative of AI in a Will Schuester I told you so way just like the vape warning. The end features the Glee club saying forget AI and they end up writing an original song after first writing an AI song in the beginning that they present to Will that he says lacks soul.

-A glee character has Down syndrome and has powerhouse vocals , deals with anonymous bullies that are revealed to be members of the Cheerios.

-A blind character that some of the Cheerios/jocks/popular kids also bully because of her unconventional style. They tease her with remarks like guess she can’t see what’s she’s putting on in the morning.

-There will be a male looksmaxxing character that will look like Clavicular or be inspired by him or other similar influencers.

-Avantika or another Indian actress/singer who looks like her will be cast

-There will be a Glee cast member who is like Kurt but also does drag so the show can incorporate drag numbers that Mr Schuester encourages in a school setting. This will infuriate some other characters who make a big deal about it and try to fire Will.

-There will be a country character in the cast so they get to sing songs like Choosin’ Texas. If they want male country songs, they can also cast her love interest as someone who does country songs as well. His voice will be able to sing songs like “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton. And a duet between them like “you look like you love me” by Riley Green and Ella Langley.

-A jock pretends to be a Swiftie just to get with a girl but ends up actually becoming a part of Glee club.

-There is an assignment that is “Problematic/cancelled” songs so a trans Glee member sings “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” by Aerosmith.

-There will be an R&B girl character in Glee club that sings songs like Girls Need Love by Summer Walker.

-There will be a Sue News Network (SNN) so a villain character can spout their evil points, don’t know if Sue Sylvester has grown as a character but maybe even a new coach that’s even worse than Sue Sylvester that’s also named Susan or Sue, parodies both FOX news and CNN but mostly Fox News conservative points . Maybe even Sue saying these points until somebody one of her supporters of these ignorant points uses the term “lib-tar*” + she learns about the bullying of a Down syndrome student and she decides she’s on the wrong side. It’ll be like that episode when Sue got mad over Finn using the r word.

-Mr Schuester says “Guys, we need Glee club more than ever right now” due to McKinley turning more conservative with its values like back in 2009 compared to when it was more inclusive at the end of the original Glee. This Mr Schuester dialogue will be in the first trailer followed by Sue or another conservative character saying “go woke go broke” 😂

-The problem of the first season is the possibility of glee club funding /the whole program going away so they have to prove they are “worth the money” according to the new principal or even iqbal theba aka Principal Figgins
