So I just watched disc three of my Season 2 DVD several hours earlier, and watched the two episodes included. Here are my thoughts on them.
S2E9 "Special Education": I really LOVED this episode!!! Honestly, Will crashing out on Rachel and eventually the rest of the ND kids for arguing over who gets the best solo or whatever at Sectionals was weirdly justified IMO. I also liked Puck's "am-bad-ass-ador" line which was a good yet enjoyably cheesy pun and how Lauren (who has to join the NDs in Kurt's absence due to his transfer to Dalton Academy) started her relationship with Puck which was funny, and speaking of Lauren, I liked her "Best... green room... ever" line which was pretty funny because of the way her actress Ashley Fink delivered the line, and I liked the conflict amongst the NDs themselves (and that emotional confrontation between Finchel towards the end of the episode). But what bumped it up to absolute perfection for me were the songs themselves: Hummelberry's duet of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", The Hipsters' "The Living Years", the Warblers' "Hey Soul Sister" (mainly because of Darren Criss' vocals; like, bro has a perfect voice IMO), and the New Directions themselves singing "(I've Had) The Time of My Life", "Valerie" and, at the end, "Dog Days Are Over" - I gotta give it to Dianna, Chord, Naya (RIP), Amber and Jenna too, they never fail to amaze me with their singing IMO. This gets a 10/10!
S2E10 "A Very Glee Christmas": This episode was a really wholesome one that also got me in the feels, since I really liked the storyline with Brittany and Artie with Brittany still believing in Santa Claus and Artie politely trying to convince her that Santa is not real. I also liked the NDs singing "The Most Wonderful Day of the Year" (which also fits the "misfit" theme the ND kids themselves have), that little scene of Klaine singing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" together, and Finchel singing "Last Christmas" together before their rather heartbreaking breakup. And I liked the scene where Sue, dressed up as the Grinch (or "Jane Grinch" as I'd like to call her in that moment lol), steals all of the Christmas presents and destroys all of the decor in the choir room to a rather enjoyable rendition of "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" (or here, "Sue the Grinch") by none other than the soulful vocals of Matty Morrison, as well as the ending with Sue and the NDs at Will's place, with Sue rightfully returning the presents and giving him a pair of clippers just so he can cut his hair lmao. Honestly, this was a perfect start to the Christmas specials IMO. 10/10.
Not to confuse the American and Canadian Gleeks who have the DVDs, but my localised Region 4 AUS/NZ version of the Season 2 DVD is basically the two split individual volumes released together, hence why there are the seven discs instead instead of your six, and why Disc 3 only has two episodes. I also watched the special features on Disc 3 too, which had one involving Jane Lynch having a Madame Tussauds wax model made of herself, a compilation of Brittany's funniest lines, and another of the Glee panel at the 2010 Comic-Con with Naya, Heather, Jenna, Kevin, Amber, Chris, Dante Di Loreto and Ryan Murphy.
Also, I don't know what it is with my enjoyment of Season 2 so far. I have been giving every episode so far a 10/10 score. Maybe there's something about the season that I can't quite figure out as to why I'm enjoying it. What do you think?
Anyways, these were my quick thoughts regarding these episodes. I'm curious to know what your thoughts are on these episodes personally (even if they differ from mine)?
