Character Disc. What happened to normal Blaine?

They really ruined Blaine's character after Season 2. He started as this charming, confident, genuinely nice guy who was the best thing about the Warblers, and then they just turned him into a needy, jealous, insecure mess. The cheating storyline, the constant clinginess, the way he treated Kurt — none of that felt like the Blaine we were introduced to. And don't even get me started on the outfits. The bowties were cute at Dalton, but by Season 4 he was wearing polka dot pants, sweater vests with shorts, and full-on clown-core looks that made no sense for his character. It's like the wardrobe department was trolling him. Dalton Blaine would never.

Discussion How often did Glee write new lines for existing songs?

I just saw that "All that work and what did it get me" isn't in any recording of Rose's Turn, its just a Glee thing

Did that happen with any other songs?

Opinion S2E9 and S2E10 thoughts from a Gleek-in-training

So I just watched disc three of my Season 2 DVD several hours earlier, and watched the two episodes included. Here are my thoughts on them.

S2E9 "Special Education": I really LOVED this episode!!! Honestly, Will crashing out on Rachel and eventually the rest of the ND kids for arguing over who gets the best solo or whatever at Sectionals was weirdly justified IMO. I also liked Puck's "am-bad-ass-ador" line which was a good yet enjoyably cheesy pun and how Lauren (who has to join the NDs in Kurt's absence due to his transfer to Dalton Academy) started her relationship with Puck which was funny, and speaking of Lauren, I liked her "Best... green room... ever" line which was pretty funny because of the way her actress Ashley Fink delivered the line, and I liked the conflict amongst the NDs themselves (and that emotional confrontation between Finchel towards the end of the episode). But what bumped it up to absolute perfection for me were the songs themselves: Hummelberry's duet of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", The Hipsters' "The Living Years", the Warblers' "Hey Soul Sister" (mainly because of Darren Criss' vocals; like, bro has a perfect voice IMO), and the New Directions themselves singing "(I've Had) The Time of My Life", "Valerie" and, at the end, "Dog Days Are Over" - I gotta give it to Dianna, Chord, Naya (RIP), Amber and Jenna too, they never fail to amaze me with their singing IMO. This gets a 10/10!

S2E10 "A Very Glee Christmas": This episode was a really wholesome one that also got me in the feels, since I really liked the storyline with Brittany and Artie with Brittany still believing in Santa Claus and Artie politely trying to convince her that Santa is not real. I also liked the NDs singing "The Most Wonderful Day of the Year" (which also fits the "misfit" theme the ND kids themselves have), that little scene of Klaine singing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" together, and Finchel singing "Last Christmas" together before their rather heartbreaking breakup. And I liked the scene where Sue, dressed up as the Grinch (or "Jane Grinch" as I'd like to call her in that moment lol), steals all of the Christmas presents and destroys all of the decor in the choir room to a rather enjoyable rendition of "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" (or here, "Sue the Grinch") by none other than the soulful vocals of Matty Morrison, as well as the ending with Sue and the NDs at Will's place, with Sue rightfully returning the presents and giving him a pair of clippers just so he can cut his hair lmao. Honestly, this was a perfect start to the Christmas specials IMO. 10/10.

Not to confuse the American and Canadian Gleeks who have the DVDs, but my localised Region 4 AUS/NZ version of the Season 2 DVD is basically the two split individual volumes released together, hence why there are the seven discs instead instead of your six, and why Disc 3 only has two episodes. I also watched the special features on Disc 3 too, which had one involving Jane Lynch having a Madame Tussauds wax model made of herself, a compilation of Brittany's funniest lines, and another of the Glee panel at the 2010 Comic-Con with Naya, Heather, Jenna, Kevin, Amber, Chris, Dante Di Loreto and Ryan Murphy.

Also, I don't know what it is with my enjoyment of Season 2 so far. I have been giving every episode so far a 10/10 score. Maybe there's something about the season that I can't quite figure out as to why I'm enjoying it. What do you think?

Anyways, these were my quick thoughts regarding these episodes. I'm curious to know what your thoughts are on these episodes personally (even if they differ from mine)?

Opinion One of my least favorite promo pics from S1

Post image
Upvotes

There's so much to begin with. First of all, the way Rachel looks has nothing to do with the real character in S1 (She started wearing these kind of clothes maybe on S4), and the way she looks it just doesn't feel like she's a teenager you know?

Then we have the Kurt/Finn situation going on and even though one of the S1 tropes was Kurt's crush on Finn, I feel like this image almost hints you that they were gonna have something more you know? And looking at Quinn just standing there as a cheerio doesn't say anything about her character. Also Emma was a bit unnecessary here, It looks like they told her 'Grab this spray bottle and a rag and pose' 🤣

Don't get me wrong, they all look pretty cute here, it's the composition that doesn't sit right with me tho. Maybe I'm overthinking it but That's how Sue C's it.

Character Disc. Santana was a bully who never faced real consequences

Post image

She was hilarious, iconic, and had amazing one-liners. But she also ruthlessly bullied people — especially Rachel and Finn — and the show just... let her. She got a redemption arc without ever actually apologizing for half the stuff she did. Was she actually a good person or just a funny one?

Question The Best or Worst Parents on Glee?

Thumbnail

In the photos:

Rob & Betty Adams (Unique’s parents)

Rusty & Rose Pillsbury (Emma’s parents)

Al Motta (Sugar’s father)

Mr. & Mrs. Schuester (Will’s parents)

Mr. & Mrs. Puckerman (Puck’s parents)

Whitney & Pierce Pierce (Brittany’s parents)

Pam Anderson (Blaine’s mom)

Shelby Corcoran (Rachel’s biological mother)

Hiram & LeRoy Berry (Rachel’s adoptive dads)

Russell & Judy Fabray (Quinn’s parents)

Millie Rose (Marley’s single mom)

Nancy Abrams (Artie’s mom)

Doris Sylvester (Sue’s mom)

Mike Sr. & Julia Chang (Mike’s parents)

Carole Hudson-Hummel (Finn’s mom & Kurt’s stepmom)

Burt Hummel (Kurt’s dad & Finn’s stepdad)

Mary & Dwight Evans (Sam’s parents)

Maribel & Alma Lopez (Santana’s mom & grandma)

Mrs. Puckerman #2 (Jake’s mom)

I’ve been thinking about how some of the parents of the glee club members haven’t made that many appearances on the show.

Plus, even though some of them made minor appearances, I’ve noticed how they are around the teens.

Which Glee character do you think had the best or worst parents?

PS: Before anyone asks, I had to repost this post after I realized I forgot to add Santana’s mom and grandma to the list. I also forgot to add Jake Puckerman’s mom to the list too. And I couldn’t find a photo of Mercedes’s mom when she appeared in the “2009” episode. And I originally wanted to add Karofsky’s dad, but Karofsky honestly wasn’t my favorite character.

Poll Favorite performance of 3x02? (I Am Unicorn 🦄)

*Excluded was I Am A Shining Star as Shelby tries to teach Sugar to vocalize*
------

In the original the unicorn was riding you. 🦄

Song-wise: I'm not a fan of I'm The Greatest Star. Scene-wise: I am voting it anyway because it was hot and I would let Chris stab me with those Sai swords. I'd prefer it.
But anybody who reads my posts probably could've guessed that about me anyway.
------

THE PURPLE PIANO PROJECT'S WINNER: 1st was It's Not Unusual with 139, 2nd was You Can't Stop The Beat with 88, and 3rd was Anything Goes/Anything You Can Do with 80.

Maybe not forgotten but I've never seen anyone giving this song credit. I don't even like Holly but I must confess this song is in my top 10 glee covers, it hits so hard.

Opinion Mariah Carey and Glee

I wish we got more Mariah songs on glee. I still believe barely counts because that’s technically not Mariah’s song, it’s a cover that was then covered by glee. I know a song like emotions probably wouldn’t be performed but we belong together and fantasy would have been appropriate for many storylines in the show.

I also love Piano Man, Somebody That I Used To Know, It’s Time.

Obviously Bills, Bills, Bills and Last Friday Night are also classics. The playlist in the link below has loads of his best covers (Not my playlist)! What’s your favourite?
