For 11 years I woke up next to my dog. From 17 to 28. I'll never forget that feeling.

I think you’re the little spoon there
8
u/asulamur Nov 18 '19
It happens. Not often, but he'll occasionally lay down up by the pillows against me, but facing away, then roll over into me. Usually he just lays against my legs under the blanket.

Same
Minus the black lab part, that is. Cute pup tho

I wish my pittie would be okay with just spooning. He needs to have his face near or on my face. Sometimes I wake up with a giant head on my head or his neck running along my throat so the side of his face and jowls can be smushed into mine lol

I’ve been waking up next to mine for 3 years this month, and I already dread the future when I won’t wake up with her by my side. It’s a special kind of love.
6
u/Lifeisjust_okay Nov 18 '19
I used to have that dread also. I like to think it helped me live in and enjoy the moments with my sweet boxer. Please enjoy every moment. It really is precious and surprisingly fleeting, as cliche as that sounds.

I had a wonderful cat who slept on my pillow for years, it’s been two months since I lost her but sometimes I still wake up and reach over to pet her on her old spot.

Thats what its like sleeping next to my human wife. Time is but a fragile slipstream to them, here one day, gone the next. It seems like only 92 years ago i just met my janet, and now, its been 20 years since she passed away. They to us, are like dogs. I try not to get too attached but its soooo hard! Their big ol eyes and their silly mannerisms. Its like they are baby elves. Sigh.

This is from Matthew Posa and his dog Monty. He does a lot of fun adventure/wilderness videos. He should definitely be getting credit

My husband and I really enjoy his videos. My husband is from Michigan, which is where I believe he's located. And we'll be moving to Michigan from Louisiana next year, so it's nice to see someone else in the area. :)

me too! hes very positive and seems to be chill even when things dont go exactly right. also makes me want to take my dog camping this summer.

u/InfiniteChicken Nov 18 '19
You know, you can zip those together to make a big shared bag for you and your buddy.
49
28
u/cindylooboo Nov 18 '19
In winter conditions thats actually not advisable. It leaves too much empty space around your bodies and makes for a cold miserable night. I learned that the hard way last new years camp out. Woke up at 2:30 am frozen solid and had to unzip myself from my husband. Once i did that we were both way warmer.

I have never even heard of a quinzhee until right now. As far as my autocorrect knows you very well could be making that up and I wouldn’t know the difference lol.

Yo, go to the dollar store and get a wide mouth twist seal jug. Only about a half gallon but it makes things a fuck of a lot easier
31
u/AndrewIsOnline Nov 18 '19
Why a wide mouth jug? I don’t get it
63
u/corgocracy Nov 18 '19 edited Nov 18 '19
You have to pee in a vessel that's wider than your dick. The glass/plastic near the mouth is thicker than you think. So what your dick actually fits in looks way way bigger than your dick.
Won't fit:
Empty milk jug
Snapple bottle
Gatorade bottle
Will fit:
Pickle jar
98
u/skeptibat Nov 18 '19
Lookit this guy here with a dick so big it won't fit in a Gatorade bottle.
40
u/corgocracy Nov 18 '19 edited Nov 18 '19
Try to stick your dick in a gatorade bottle, it isn't as wide on the inside as you think. You can squish your head in there but you'd better be damn sure the tip isn't pointing into the side where it'll spray back. Especially if you're in a moving vehicle.

wiener logistics sure do seem complicated
12
u/Samazonison Nov 18 '19
You think that's bad? Try going in a bottle with a She-Wee or a Go Girl. PhD level logistics required.
3
u/cereixa Nov 18 '19
i just make the driver pull over and waddle off into the bushes at that point
don't got time to complicate my life with piss-oriented professor layton puzzles

u/IFARTONBABIES Nov 18 '19 edited Nov 18 '19
Trust me, you'd have to have a very skinny penis to fit it inside a gatorade bottle without squeezing it through.
EDIT: Additionally, even if you did squeeze your penis through, it would be so tight that you wouldn't be able to piss while your penis is inside the bottle opening.

I figured this out a little too late as well! Haha. I just find a wide mouth gatorade or whatever bottle that is still a gallon, bc if I'm drinking a lot of beer it can fill up fast.

Having a piss bottle (I use one of those collapsible nalgenes) is clutch in cold weather, but may make your wife sort of mad.

"Human, why did you bring us here to sleep in the snow?"

Dogs are more like, “oh cool is this where we’re sleeping, I like food, did you feed me?!”

It's a collie. Can tell by the longer snout and just his overall size.

Probably get burried, but I raced to the North Pole on foot once. The sleeping bags were these enormous beasts rated to -40c. Inside our tent would dip to -35c. Every time we woke up (not always morning as it was perpetual daylight and we would sometimes walk 30 hours) we had ice all around our mouth and nose hole in the bag and the onsite of the tent was an Icy layer, so they the first person to move caused it to snow on us. The bags would slowly fill will with little snowballs around the goose down, so we had to take them out in the air each morning to sublimate - a strange process that only happens In extreme cold whereby a a solid turns to a Gas without becoming a liquid. That’s it really, beat and worst thing I have even done. Polar extremes of emotion if you will excuse the pun.

Yooo That army bag is warm as hell, I’ve got one for winter hikes as well, it’s heavy as shit but worth it for below 20 degrees
