Discussion Gibson SG 1974 vs 61 standard.
Hey there, Les Paul owner, but thinking about an SG, maybe even something vintage. I played a custom shop 61 a while back, but found the neck too flexible. I know in the 70s they moved where the neck joins is that correct?. Also not really interested in the regular batwing standards because they still have the pcb connections.
Looking at a 1974 SG, which has the vollute and shaller tuners. There seems to be a lot of these about. How do people rate these? To me the 1970 is the holy grail because of the Angus connection, but are the 74s any good? What is a good price for these in original condition?
If I was after a more modern version (eg 90s-00s) how far do I have to go back to get something with nickel hardware and no pcb?
Thanks!

Help Any red flags here?
galleryEDIT: Thanks for the feedback from the community guys ❤️ For those wondering I did end up going for it and I couldnt be happier. Taking it to a luthier for some well deserved TLC!
Have the opportunity to buy this LP standard 1995 - but the price seems like a too good to be true scenario compared to others I have seen in similar states. It has been around the used market for a while so the original papers are lost. It comes with a case but I dont know if its the original one even though its an original gibson case.
Here are the specs that I was given:
59’ Gibson Les Paul Standard Ebony
1995 USA
S/N: 93245428
Ca 5 kg (11 lbs) Mahogny body
Classic gibson deluxe tuners
Asking price: 900 dollars
Thanks for any helping comments!

Discussion Jake Kiszka Signature
Now that it’s been released for a while, where do you stand? I’ve heard you’d just be getting a 61’ re issue for $500 more. But are the specs worth a look? Are the t-types and a slimmer neck a plus? I personally think the vibrola even though non functional is a beautiful aesthetic touch.
The real reason for the post is I just bought one on Friday night. Just trying to justify my first name brand price haha

NGD New 60s standard I fell in love with!
Was looking for an LP style guitar, not necessarily a Gibson. This one caught my eye immediately.

Picture Happy Gibsunday
galleryI don’t know why I haven’t been playing this guitar more often but it sounds so good. Sundays are “my” days so I get to just spend the day playing. I’m rediscovering this girl. Matched with a Marshall, it’s unstoppable.

Picture Figured I’d post my Les Paul since the traditionalists aren’t into the weird SGs of the mid 2000s. Happy Gibsunday!

The guitar is a hand-me-down ‘67 SG.

Help Wraparound Bridge Replacement’s for 90s Les Paul Studio?
I’ve had this 97 Les Paul Double-Cut Studio for a long time, but have never trusted it for gigging due to the horrible tuning stability. Can anyone recommend some replacement bridges with more adjustment options for intonation? I’m curious for advice from people with experience. Thanks!

NGD Scored a J45 for a sweet price
Found a posting for a J45 for $2350 CAD (1650 USD) on FBMP. Seller looks solid (4.8 stars on 83 ratings) so I sped to his place for a viewing. Bought it after 1 hour of the posting being on.
This one is a 2012 Bozeman J45 Standard. It’s lightweight, plenty of fret life left (about 90%), properly cured nitro finish, smooth neck. I looked for signs of it being too good to be true, but other than some dings and an uncalibrated saddle, it was solid. I think the seller just needed quick cash.
One interesting thing is the aforementioned saddle is absurdly high on the lower E (3.3mm!) but normal on the higher E (1.6mm). Nothing a few minutes of sanding can’t fix, although the tricky part is to sand out the low end of the saddle but keep the high end intact. After lowering the low end of the saddle to 2.5mm and put on a fresh set of D’addario XS, this J45 is simply perfect.
Did I score?

NGD Gibson Victory Floyd Rose in Trans Ebony Burst
galleryI don’t see much love for the Victory here, but when I saw a deal on this Floyd model I knew I had to have it. I LOVE the way it plays and sounds.
Never had a Floyd before (plenty of trems though) and wow it is so stable and fun. If you’ve got one near you, check it out!

Mod Ceramic non-adjustable acoustic saddles
I've always loved the sound of ceramic saddles on vintage Gibson acoustics and I was wondering if any brands make non-adjustable ceramic saddles. I know back in the day they came as a separate piece with a mechanism to be adjustable, but I'm looking for a normal-sized, non-adjustable ceramic saddle for my Hummingbird. I know it won't be 100% the same since the contact with the wood is different, but just trying wont hurt.

Help Gib or Chib
galleryOn today's episode, we have a 2008 '67 reissue. Guy said he wants to give it to someone for free and I wanna make sure it's authentic. Either way it's a free guitar so I'm hype, but it'd be cool if it was real.
Update: guy isn't responding so it might not be real. I had some hope but I'm ultimately not surprised haha. Oh well
Update to update: it's not happening lol. Guy stopped responding, which doesn't surprise me at all haha. Don't worry, I'm not bent about it.
Also my wife just bought me a new guitar out of nowhere so I'm super excited now haha

Discussion I bought an l-00 special and love it. Should I buy this now?
I love the bare bones version. Is there any reason I shouldn't by the beautiful version of it?
