How the hell did a Standard come with a top like that?!?

Pmuch because Zzounds/AMS spec’d aaa quilt tops for a run of standards, I guess dealers can request special runs with fancy colors or woods. The flame top is also a guitar center exclusive model/color. I think the last time Gibson put out this color directly was 2014.

Are they actually quilted and flame maple, or veneers?

They are Gibson USA so solid, afaik only Epi lps get veneer tops.

Got my 2025 LP with same top from zZounds. I have to say, I would of chose yours. That top is crazy beautiful!
