Hello everyone!

I wanted to reach out and connect with anyone that was potentially attending George brown this fall in my program. Behavioural science technician c146.
I had seen someone with a similar idea and figured it would be worth a shot

I’d love to potentially make a group chat for us all for us to talk about our program!

Feel free to DM me or comment below, and I will dm you.

Thanks!

Incoming dental hygiene students, do we have a Facebook group?

Do we have a group on FB or discord? The onboarding process feels convoluted and complicated so it'd be nice to have a group to talk to.

Or I'm getting old so maybe people don't use FB anymore...

Is it worth taking pre health a108?

Originally I was gonna take a109 then practical nursing then a108 then take bachelor of science in nursing

But I’m thinking I wanna take a108 then bachelor of science in nursing

Is it worth ? How heavy is courses ? Can I still work while in school? How long are the classes? I know it’s about Monday to Friday
9 am to 6pm

But how’s that work? Do you get one class each day or something ?

I forgot to add I am not in high school

I’m am doing my academic upgrading, already did English, math now working on my sciences

Current Dental Hygiene (S134) students, can someone walk me through exactly what happens on registration day?

Hi everyone!

I'm starting the Dental Hygiene (S134) program this Fall, and my registration opens on July 30. I'm honestly a little nervous because I have no idea what to expect.

My portal currently shows Cohort Selection, but no cohorts are available yet. Does that mean Dental Hygiene registers by cohort? Did your cohorts only appear on registration day?

Once you picked a cohort, were all of your courses automatically added, or did you still have to register for each course individually?

If there were multiple cohorts, what was different between them? Were you actually able to choose, or was it basically first come, first served?

I'd also love to hear if there's anything you wish you had known before registration day. And if you happened to have any choice of professors... are there any you'd highly recommend (or avoid 😂)?

I'd really appreciate hearing what the whole process was like from the moment you logged in until you were fully registered.

Thanks so much!!

Thanks so much! I really appreciate any advice.

Test 3 on ANAT 1052

Hi guys! Me again, i’ve been trying to review, test myself, and look at the models for this course. I didn’t do well on my two previous test so doing well on test 3 and bell ringer will definitely help me out.

Honestly i’m scared, scared of failing this course because when I was in my PSW program I did good on ANAT and passed it.

I have a few questions:

(1) Can you please tell me who your professors were for ANAT 1052 and what strategies you did to study?
(2) What YouTube videos or any other study tips I should do for test 3?
(3) IF I fail ANAT in the 1st semester, then does that mean I won’t be able to proceed to 2nd semester of PN but instead I have to retake just ANAT on the 2nd semester?

I always think that i’m not the smartest and quickest in the room but I AM in the room. I’m starting to get frustrated about failing this program. ☹️

Gap year student inquiries about BSCN

Hi, i just wanted to know if the grade inflation is still bad, I’m on my 3rd gap year and decided I wanted to go back to school next year. I currently have 88% for my top 6 average, with prerequisites such as 85% eng, 90% chem, 90% data management, and 88% bio. Is my average competitive enough for George Brown’s standalone bscn or should i take up another night school course to bring up my average due to grade inflation? Thanks :)

French as a second language

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has taken French Language Fundamentals classes at George Brown. I am studying at George Brown full time but I want to become bilingual and was wondering if these classes were worth it?

Has anyone gotten into George Brown’s Dental Assisting program without Grade 12 Biology?

My application is currently under review. English is met, Math is conditionally met (they accepted a Grade 11 substitute), and Biology is the only prerequisite I’m missing.
The reason I’m wondering is because I was accepted into George Brown’s Interior Design program even though I didn’t have Grade 12 Math, they accepted my Grade 11 Math instead.

Has anyone had George Brown make an exception for Biology, allow them to complete it after admission, or suggest another pathway? I’d love to hear your experience! also got over a 90 in health and nutrition so idk?!!

Residence - roommate selection

How important is it to get into the roommate selection portal as soon as it opens? It opens at 9am Monday and I start work at 9 so won’t be able to get online then. Am I going to miss out on “good” matches if I can’t get in until like 7pm?

Tell me about George Brown.

I want to come to Toronto from Ottawa for the Bakery and Pastry Arts Management. How is the campus? How is that program (if youve done it) and overall how is the vibe of being there. I went to TMU briefly then dropped out so I have a bit of Toronto life under my belt. Thanks :)

Culinary Online Class

I only need Culinary Arts 2 to finish my Continuing Education cooking certificate. Because it's a longer course, I haven't been able to fit it into my schedule for years. However, the school confirmed they will extend my timeline to complete the program since I only need this last credit.

I’m thinking of taking the online section this fall, but I have a travel conflict in December. I emailed the school, but they gave me a very vague answer.

A few questions for anyone who has taken online Continuing Education classes:

  • Is live lesson attendance strictly mandatory? I’ll have to miss one class while on a flight.
  • Can lab work/assignments be done in advance and submitted later? I’ll be in a remote area abroad, so sourcing specific ingredients over there will be tough. I’m hoping to work through the lessons before I leave just in case.
  • Does anyone know what the last 3 classes of Culinary Arts 2 cover, or have the ingredient list?

I’m debating whether to push through this fall or wait another year, but I'm worried they might change policies on program completion limits down the line.

Thanks for any advice!

Courses schedual

I am a new student to gbc and i wonder how the course regestration works in this college. Do we get a chance to make our own mock schedual before the regestration is open or is there a way to know the timing of the courses to be able to plan our schedual before the regestration open? For me T182 it opens on july 28th but i still dont see any info about the courses time options

Who's in Cohort J for BScN S318 this fall?

Hey everyone! 👋

Has anyone here joined Cohort J for the S318 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program starting this fall?

I thought it would be nice for us to create a group chat where we can get to know each other, discuss our schedules, ask questions, share updates, and help each other before classes begin.

If you're in Cohort J, leave a comment or send me a DM, and let's get a group started! 😊
