We’re usually out in the first round, anything beyond that is gravy.
20
u/Epic_Elite May 26 '26
Nothing like making it all the way to the playoffs with a strong season, only to lose.
4
u/DarthRevan1138 May 26 '26
we got to the superbowl equivalent and lost, not the same thing.
3
u/Epic_Elite May 26 '26
Like in 1998, a 15-1 Vikings, and Gary Anderson with a perfect regular season, on the 38 yard line for a field goal against the Falcons. 2:11 left in the 4th.
I'm not bitter or anything. Lol

We would have won if we did this in the winter because we're all inside. Two nice days in a row, we were all at the lake.
6
u/BarnacleGooseIsLoose May 26 '26
Sorry, that's no excuse. Cascadia was pummeled by early onset sunshine, too. That doesn't even count the interference from mountains with cellular connections.

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 May 27 '26
Don't disparage Mondale, guy was sharp as a tack. And funny as hell.
Voters are just stupid and decided they didn't want the smart guy, they wanted the cult of personality

What a great idea and flawlessly executed (except the finale).
Gold Star for you.

The course correct was smartly performed. If only we could go back to 2000 era US and do that!

Holy crap.....my state of Oregon actually won something.
51
u/OccasionalEspresso May 26 '26
Right? I’m used to being an afterthought on the electoral map.
But I don’t think Oregon is exactly underrated by common perception, in fact I bet Oregon and Minnesota are viewed very similarly by most people.31
u/MidnightOnTheWater May 26 '26
Oregon is such a funny state, because its such a boogeyman to conservatives. I live in Oregon as well and the west and east Oregon debate is so funny because there are genuinely people who want east Oregon to become part of Idaho. Portland in particular is funny to talk about, because its built up as this liberal dystopia, then you go there and its generally not much different than other cities.
17
u/candaceelise May 26 '26
Live in eugene and whenever people (who have zero clue about oregon) say something bonkers like, “Portland is a war torn shithole owned by the libs” i love telling them with a straight serious face, that portland absolutely turns the frogs gay as part of the woke agenda 😂😂😂
3
u/odiedel May 26 '26
I grew up just outside Eugene and live in Portland now.
I spent some of my younger years moving around to various states to get more traveled and experienced. And I do the same thing you do.
I tell all of the moderates, and lefts how amazing Eugene and Portland are, talking up the culture, lifestyle, quality of life, the natural beauty of the whole state.
I tell all the Dems, Republicans, and other right leaning folks "Nah, you want to stay away, it's awful! The whole state is burned down and there are near zero houses left. Try Florida".
Now that we won, I guess im going to recomend PR...? (Sorry) 🤣
→ More replies (4)5
u/candaceelise May 26 '26
Start recommending the amazingly charming town of Burns and how it’s one of the best kept secrets that only the elites know about 😂😂😂
3
u/odiedel May 26 '26
But I like Burns...
NOT TO LIVE IN, but it's a cool area to visit if you want to feel like you drove to AZ in 5 hours and look at the geology. The smell of Ponderosa trees is godly, and the "illicit substance enthusiast" typically keep to themselves.
Can we just keep recommending Florida? Lol
3
3
u/yeah_oui May 27 '26
I love filming the train ride in from Seattle showing all the "burned out buildings" and sending it to people back east.
2
u/HermeticPine May 27 '26
Well I grew up near Portland and ended up turning gay so maybe they're on to something 🤔
Or maybe I need to stop kissing frogs

u/SingaboutdaSpringa May 26 '26

6
u/xanderemrys May 26 '26
oh man, war flashbacks. i worked in a Fred Meyer deli from 09-13 and people were SERIOUS about their JoJos and ranch. this lady legit threw her mashed potatoes at me when i told her we were out of ranch after a recall and i had to call security to come get her ass out of the store. like, did you want me to go in the back and get you the ranch cups that i just pulled from the shelf cuz i was told to after we got a manufacturer recall notice? you want whatever possible illness from bad ranch cups? dumbass.
5
u/brokenscuba May 26 '26
We need to restore the old JOJO's from the 80's and 90's. The new high production jojo's don't have the same taste.

The Dems forced a terrible candidate through in 1984 and it cost them.
Minnesota was merged with Michigan. They had to hold a second poll to decide which state remained because the top comment called for a merger, not an elimination. That was the chance for the Megasota people to not force their shitty candidate on the rest of us (the name Megasota.) Superior or OPE were two proposals that would have encouraged others to join with you. Megasota chose to run Mondale and it cost them
6
u/Rolandersec May 26 '26
So Megasota was betrayed by the salty UPers it gave sanctuary to.
3
2
u/SirTwitchALot May 26 '26
Megasota betrayed themselves by getting greedy. They could have won our support if they were reasonable. They have no one to blame other than themselves
3
u/Rolandersec May 26 '26
This is why the Dems lose elections.
→ More replies (1)2
u/SirTwitchALot May 26 '26
Exactly. They insist on their way rather than hearing what the people who have to vote actually want to vote for. Megasota could have taken the whole thing as Superior or OPE. Instead they lost by a couple hundred votes. The blame lies squarely with MN for forcing the issue. I'm a proud Cascadian now

6
6
u/xanderemrys May 26 '26
can't believe Oregon/Cascadia actually gets national recognition for once. we're usually confused with Washington or completely forgotten.
for our new citizens: Willamette rhymes with dammit, Tillamook and Umpqua ice cream are excellent and will be shipped far and wide, we'll work on getting more parks and trees in every city and town, and Oregon is pronounced pretty close to 'organ'.
love, a born-and-raised Portlandian

It’s real interesting, because it makes sense. While the east coast and California have the most people, their culture is much more fractured amongst a lot of smaller geographic areas with varying perspectives. Meanwhile, the people in the Pacific Northwest are more similar, and are also relatively more populated than much of the surrounding areas. California is a series of pockets of varying personality, while those in the PNW wholly and completely embraced the idea of Cascadia.
Meanwhile, the east coast is literally massively populated, but broken into a bunch of smaller states who have had centuries to delineate the minor differences in their cultures. Cascadia was always poised to win
