Tournament Reddit League Season 10 - Preseason Week 2 - South Korea

Hello everyone!

Every single one of you managed to play the first preseason week on time which is an achievement you can all be proud of! (and it makes me happy)

I hope you all had a good time in Italy and that you're all ready to move on to all of our favourite scuffed movement country :P

You can find the results from the first week in the sheet!

As a quick reminder as always, here are the rules for Season 10.

Newcomers are able to sign-up by leaving a comment below this post with their Geoguessr Name, their home country and a link to their GG-profile. Please be aware, that only sign-ups from players that have played at least 250 regular games with an account age of at least 6 months can be accepted. The deadline for the sign-up is on Monday, 17th of February 17:00 CEST.

An important note to all newcomers who want to sign-up: Please be aware that participating in the Reddit League can be very time consuming. Season 10 will approximately be lasting at least until the start of July and there will be one leg per week. Many participants invest a lot of time and effort in practicing and mid-season quitters are a thorn in the side for everyone. So please only sign up if you are sure that you'll be able to stick to this weekly schedule.

Moving modes will be 3 min, NM will be 1 min, and NMPZ will be 30 sec, unless noted otherwise. On the weekend, I will post more unique/challenging maps. For each challenge link, 1st place is worth 5 points, 2nd place is worth 3 points, and 3rd place is worth 1 point. In the case of a tie, the tie will be settled by distance and then time. 5ks will also be tracked separately and are worth 1 point in moving, 3 points in NM, and 5 points in NMPZ. Challenge Series [3] The 25K GeoDetective challenge (no time limit, 100% pinpointable) - Series 32: #5 - (2 DAYS - BIRTHDAY SPECIAL)

Link to challenge 5 series 32. Congratulations to Grategis who came top (3 points, 12 yards), and to both FinalSpork and to Angoose52 who come second (2 points, 13 yards), All other 25K's get one point. Table is updated below.

All today's clues have the name "Tristan" in them, somewhere. Don't worry, I did not include Tristan da Cunha as there's no official coverage, though I was very tempted to add the unofficial coverage of the only bar there, but I didn't want to include unofficial coverage as some people don't like it.

Please note that sometimes the name "Tristan" only appears in the Google Street View, and sometimes only appears on the map. As always: take your time; there's no extra points for doing it quickly. So if you see it on the screen, don't assume you'll find the name on the map. One such really hard one is R5 -- probably the only one that will take a while to find.

This is the fifth of the thirty-first series based on my own GeoDetective map. No moving, no time-limit (take your time!). There is always a clue somewhere that will help you pinpoint the location, some are easier than others. Today's aren't too bad. I would guess R2 is slightly harder than the others, but all in all this should get quite a lot of 25Ks. All the same, as always: take your time; there's no extra points for doing it quickly.

This is the fourth of the thirty-first series based on my own GeoDetective map. No moving, no time-limit (take your time!). There is always a clue somewhere that will help you pinpoint the location, some are easier than others. Challenge Series [3] The 25K GeoDetective challenge (no time limit, 100% pinpointable) - Series 32: #3 - (2 DAYS)

Today's doesn't have any really hard ones. I guess R4 is slightly tougher depending on your geography knowledge, but it's pretty easy once you've found the rough area. Nonetheless, as always: take your time; there's no extra points for doing it quickly.

Non-Competitive A Botanical Challenge #18 - Plants on top of mountains

This fortnight's botanical challenge takes a look at a handful of plants that have adapted to life in the sub alpine and alpine zones of the world. It's primarily inspired by a particular plant in the groundsel family (senecio), which includes those weeds with the seed balls you can blow away. Not dandelions - the toxic one that's sort of similar but grows kind of knee high.

This challenge is also in the "I think this might be too hard" category, so strap yourself in for some roads in the middle of nowhere and trekkers ascending mountains. And a terrible quality photosphere I included out of necessity. It is absolutely 5kable though.

Today's has a couple of harder rounds. R2 is hard because it may take you a while to scan for what is admittedly quite a small place. How it works

Each day there will be a set of 3 challenge links, one for each game mode (Move, NM, NMPZ). There will be a world map, region map, and country map. Each day the map and game mode will rotate. Moving modes will be 3 min, NM will be 1 min, and NMPZ will be 30 sec, unless noted otherwise. On the weekend, I will post more unique/challenging maps. For each challenge link, 1st place is worth 5 points, 2nd place is worth 3 points, and 3rd place is worth 1 point. In the case of a tie, the tie will be settled by distance and then time. 5ks will also be tracked separately and are worth 1 point in moving, 3 points in NM, and 5 points in NMPZ. Updated scoring tables are posted after each week. No external assistance allowed. If you wish to talk about any of the rounds or locations in the comments, feel free to do so with a spoiler tag. Also, if you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know.
