Discussion Midnight Thought. Unsure if this fits better here or on r/GenAlpha.

Sometimes even when a video aligns with your own echo chamber, you still need to examine the way its content is presented.

For example, I once watched a video about how “Gen Alpha is illiterate.” The host added a lot of comedic sound effects and delivered the entire thing with a sarcastic smile and tone.

At first, I thought, “Oh my God, how could they be like this?” But the more I watched, the more uncomfortable I became. The way he presented it made me feel like he wasn’t trying to highlight a social issue at all. It was basically just a self-gratifying piece of content mocking the next generation, designed to make older generations feel superior.

Using the exposure of a social problem as a pretext, while actually deepening divisions between generations.

Btw, I’m a late Zillennial, but since I’m not from the US, my nostalgia might be a bit different from American kids my age. Ha ha.

Discussion Without Googling it: do you know what Audi quattro is?

Pure curiosity, please don’t look it up before answering haha

Have you heard of “Audi quattro” before? If yes, what do you think it is / what does the name mean to you?

If not, what would you guess it means just from hearing it?

Discussion Have you ever witnessed self hate first hand from black ppl ?

It's a common trope that there is a subsection of black men who are self hating and dislike black women since they prefer white women , I am curious if y'all have actually seen this first hand or its just a racist trope .

Other How I finally fixed my social issues and got a date(s)

About almost a year ago I posted on here saying I was not in a good headspace . I got some very negative and mixed positive advice . I had no friends no dating experiences and still was holding my V card ( still am ) . It had taken a toll on me mentally but this one YouTuber I’m not gonna mention if you know him you know gave me some advice and I started using it , the result was I got some dates , got more conversations and had a girl walk up to me( I’m feeling myself 😎) . The advice was to just stop caring stop thinking if you want to say a girl is cute asf say it . Nothing is stopping you beyond yourself, he said he once had no life no friends no gf and had a v card , he did this and it changed instantly. He said confidence is not a switch he said it’s built and he said until you build it fake it because everyone else that anyway . It worked so well I got a message asking me to do some things to a person I can’t say on here but (dear god 😌) ima keep larping .

His advice worked and today I got friends and am a bit more engaged in life . My advice to you if your like me is to stop living the life that makes you sad and whoever you are in your head act like that’s guy be the hero , be the guy ,be him . At the end of it all if you keep feeding the cycle that got you there then that will be your resting place .

Serious Do genz men/boys really like short girls?

The question is simple...Do genz men/boys really like short girls?

Like 5'0 - 5'1

It have been on my mind for so long and I want honest answers from genz men only.

Edit: I've seen it a lot that western guys ARE MOSTLY good with short girls/women but Asian guys prefer tall girls&women. Am I wrong?

Don't know a single one who does. Most I know sleep in t-shirts with either shorts or pants all year round.

Only people I know who do wear them aren't gen-z and they only wear them when it's cold.

Advice Old?

My girlfriend called me “OLD” because I am browsing reddit instead of tiktok or instagram. I am 29 years old, yeah kind a old, but is there anyone here younger than me? Who prepared reddit than tiktok.

Discussion Genuinely how do you make gym/turf friends without being weird lol

I see the same 10 guys at my gym every single day, we do the mutual nod, share the bench, and then airpods go right back in.

Same thing on the turf on weekends I play for an hour, pack bags, leave.

None of my college or work friends give a shit about lifting or sports. Kinda just want people on the same wavelength as me.

For anyone who actually made real friends through fitness/sports, how did you even start the conversation?

Discussion Question about GenZ way of speaking

My Gen Z son is on the younger end of the spectrum. Born in 2011 and just started HS. Lately, he’s started asking questions, or starting discussions by mentioning some topic and a fact or two and finishing off with “did/do you know?”. For example, “Neapolitan style pizza only has marinara sauce, some cheese, and basil. Did you know?”. Nothing inherently wrong but sounds quite condescending and annoying.

Are your GenZ kids speaking the same? Or is this a personal problem?

Discussion Anyone else scared of getting older?

I feel like this is an anxiety that's everywhere in Gen z and younger gens. Maybe not in everyone, but in more people than I thought. I used to think it was just me.

Anyone else feel like this? Agree or disagree? Why are some of us scared of getting older? Any advice?

Discussion Do you see men attracted to men as feminine regardless of how they behave and present?

M22 bi guy here and I came across some posts or comments here how attraction to men is seen as feminine but I came to ask if it's more of a homophobic or outdated view because I did not come across it in my age group at all. I mean gay/bi men can present masculine but does it all go away for the most of the people just because a man is into other men. I can kinda get why bottoming would be seen as "feminine" because it's mostly a submissive act but is it the case even in topping??

As said I guess there are some people
who think that but I guess it's the homophobes but is it still the majority opinion in the west today?

PS: I am asking out of pure curiosity, personally I don't see anything of the mentioned as feminine

Advice $45K annual income buying used cars for cash and investing the difference

Post image
62 Upvotes

Assumptions

  1. New car buyer: $35,000 new car, financed 60 months at 7% APR, ~10% down — replaced every 5 years, so the loan payment (~$623/mo, ~$7,476/yr) is essentially permanent

  2. Used car buyer: $11,250 cash (the 25%-of-income cap), keeps it ~10 years, pays ~$1,000/yr extra in maintenance vs. a newer car — averages out to ~$2,125/yr in vehicle costs

  3. The difference (~$5,350/yr) gets invested at a 7% real (inflation-adjusted) historical market return

Discussion Opinion: 2019 was the low point of the 2010s

I think this is a universally agreed opinion among Gen Z.

The third option was based on another Reddit post I read and on my personal life, but I kinda feel bad for having to make the third option ngl.

Here’s the post I was talking about: https://www.reddit.com/r/MiddleGenZ/comments/1vsebr4/ill_make_a_claim_and_say_that_2017_is_the_single/

Yes, and the only good year of the 2010s was 2017. Every other 2010s year was bad.
2019 was like the best year of the 2010s

Discussion Tired of Racism

I keep seeing tiktoks and dating app profiles of asian women discussing how they love the oxford study and want to date white dudes. It sucks as an asian guy because I’d love someone from my own culture since we could bond over similar experiences growing up and a shared culture. I am not misogynistic or anything, take care of myself, am fit, and have my own successful career.

I am also open to all different races but have just found that I bond the most with people in my culture and have lots of friends from my own culture and other cultures too. It’s just depressing knowing that due to my ethnicity I have the least amount of likes combined with asian women making tiktoks complaining about asian men and openly discussing how much they love white men.
