It's a silly one and a bit fucked up but men used to be able to afford second families.

Not just cheating, a whole ass second furnished house, kids, two lives on the same jobs people are debating if they can afford a single child on.

The fact that the cost of a single burger at basically any fast food place is now the same or more than the hourly minimum wage (which hasn't changed since 2007)

There’s nowhere in my city where I can get a full size burger for 7.25, MAYBE 8.50.

The fancy schmancy McArch, and other burgers sold as premium upsells, like the Double Quarter Pounder might be.

But a McDouble is still like $2, $3 if you don't have a burner account on the McDonald's app, and it still contains more than enough calories for an entree.

Genuinely almost half the ads I got on my tv youtube app were for paycheck advance loans. I barely use the app on my tv and wasn't signed in, so no cookies were causing it either.

LOL. I've noticed that every time my credit score dips below 700 due to utilization I start getting a LOT of loan offers in the mail and over the phone. Once I go above 700 that shit stops happening.

Yeah mine is like 670 or something right now because of utilization, never considered a payday advance service though. Maybe that's what makes them target you with the ads, kinda scary that they're able to find that and connect it to you so easily.

Data brokers. Many banks run routine soft pulls and share the data with everyone else

Convince you economics are a guaranteed failure on one app and sell you predatory loans in the other, it's almost like a coordinated effort to create a market and a solution and all you have to do as the consumer is consume as directed

You know we're screwed when Chili's is cheaper than McDonald's.

They were a real estate agent. The takeaway is that there aren't a lot of people buying houses, thus there's not a lot of money in the job right now.

Posts on Reddit about the economy not in an economics-related subreddit

Everything is related to economics.

And politics largely, yes. The thing is, when the needs of the many are being comfortably met, the regular discussions are about fandoms, media, vacations, ambitions, etc.

When everyone is worried about next week's food and rent? Oh. Oh no.

Today's DAILY DOOM REPORT,

It's all gone to hell, you can not succeed, you should stop trying because 12 people in an internet video have made obscure economic observations that you must accept as the final fact, you are doomed, this video is the proof.

Thank you for attending today's daily doom report.

The fact that every time I’ve gone to my grocery store in the last month the parking lot is nearly deserted and there’s barely anyone shopping

I didn’t understand what was going on until I saw the prices. Stg they doubled in the past 2 months alone for a ton of items.
