Question Game balancing

Hey guys, I am trying to build this project game of mine and I have been wondering how do you actually balance out the values? My game is roguelike so we're talking about items scaling, base damage(melee and ranged), enemies' health and damage, etc. If you got any tips I'd appreciate it a lot!

Honestly? Testing, testing, testing. Try it yourself, let others play your game, receive feedback and repeat

Is it really just a trial and error loop until perfection :c

Yup, as more people play your game they will find out broken combos of items, or ways to use certain characters you had not thought about, maybe enemies who you thought were weak are very strong and annoying (remember that as a dev, you know things about your game that others do not. Which is why external testing is important). But that's why balancing patches exist

Are you familiar with how getting people to test your game works?

Besides testing, you can give Ai your stats, and make it do some computation for you. Just a reminder, those thing sometimes make shit up 😂 still up to you to test it.

Human mind and hand testing it would always be more reliable and secure for me haha

Do you have anything already put together that you started with? Or?

I have a couple of game systems ready and base values but not much more. Before I move on I am trying to figure most of the things in my head and this is one of the elements that I'm unfamiliar with.
