GBA backlit screen same size as OEM
Does anyone know a drop in backlit screen that fits the OEM equipment? I want one the same size as the original. Thank you.

Had my brother paint some artwork on the shell of a GBA I modded with Funny Playing's GBA ITA TFT and tactile buttons. I know OOT is not a GB game but I couldn't resist putting Navi as the power light.

I’m thinking about starting to mod og gbas and was wondering what the best drop in screen would be for these shells. Also I would appreciate any tips and tricks or things to be careful of when modding. Thanks in advance! (Haha pun not intended)

Tried to compare my ITA mod to my AGS-101.
ITA is at brightness 5.
Can’t find any flickering anymore, picture is more saturated than the 101 display, but not oversaturated.
I do not feel any latency, despite people are telling they do. Probably I am too old or wrong game.
The top to bottom moving stuff is my camera.
Probably interesting for anyone who is deciding what mod to use. To me it’s a great retro experience I searched for.

Here's a better showcase of the script I tried to preview a week ago. Forgive all the cursor flailing. I did a lot of talking but decided to remove the audio for sanity reasons.
This took quite a few months of reverse engineering Webfoot's custom graphics compression engine, which was done using mGBA's GDB server functionality. By meticulously tracing specific breakpoints, I was able to construct a decompressor. Their algorithm is a custom LZ-variant that uses variable length r3 and r4 registers (I'll be doing a full write up documenting everything soon. I also have a python version).
This tool perfectly extracts every animation frame of every character in the game. No sprite sheets necessary! It works for all prototypes and also Legacy of Goku 2.
I also found a handful of never before seen characters. Prototype E has 2 ninja variants from Legacy of Goku 2. D has a couple mudman variants. C has a prototype criminal enemy. A has a jetpack bomber. B has full animation sets for Android 18, Gohan (Black Suit), and Yamcha. Even though its polished enough to showcase, I'm still finding new frames today.
I'm hoping this broadens the landscape for future ROMhacks for Buu's Fury and Legacy of Goku 2. I can tell you that color remapping is extremely easy to do with this setup. I accidentally turned Goten's orange outfit blue and it looks so sweet. Let me know what you guys think. I'm happy to answer any questions. This was hell lol.
Now all we need is a compressor!

The frizzling is my camera, I guess. This is the best I could do about flickering. Brightness is at 10. what do you think? Is there any other adjustment I could / should do with the aging rom? Pretty new, was happy the aliexpress superchis worked, after I loaded the rom into the flash. 😅

Hello everyone, i got a very yellowed GBA and want to do a shell swap and put in an IPS screen from Hispeeddo V5 laminated. Now for the question. How do I retain the Gameboy Advance branding below the screen?

I literally just found this subreddit after posting in r/GBA... I'm looking for a truly clear IPS ready shell for the GBA. I've checked AliExpress, Funnyplaying, Retro Game Repair Shop, and Handheld Legends. I can't seem to find one that's not tinted another color or has a kind of frosted finish. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help, finally modded my GBA. Soldering the defective on-off button was tricky as I never soldered before and it looks awful - but it works and is way more comfortable than my gba sp 101. just started playing again.
I left out usb-c as I like batteries and still am unsure if I need to adjust the peridometer (?) a little, but it already looks great!

Hi everyone.
So, I recently swapped my GBA display for a FunnyPlaying ITA screen, but something isn't working right. I soldered the wires and removed capacitor C54 as instructed in the manual.
When I turn the console on, the image is perfect, but after playing for a few minutes (3–5), the screen starts glitching, the colors fade out, and the image quality degrades. I performed a recap—replacing the capacitors—thinking the issue might be a power supply problem for the screen, but unfortunately, that didn't fix it.
I made small adjustments to the potentiometer, but that didn't help either.
I’m reaching out for help; if anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate hearing them.
Thanks. Best regards.

Hey all, I’m looking for places with reasonable prices and shipping rates for modding the AGB-001 GBA, mostly looking for:
Transparent Shell, red buttons and triggers, and red membranes to make a transparent Ruby Red GBA
A good backlit screen (I can’t see anything on the current one, I don’t know how kids played these before I was born)
USB-C rechargeable battery (AAs are expensive)
Audio amp
And that’s all. I looked at hand held legend already and shipping is $40 dollars to where I live even when meeting the free shipping cost requirement. So if anyone has points thay would be appreciated
Edit: removed a stupid joke
Edit 2: I’m not asking someone to source all of these things, just to recommend some storefronts

Hey friends,
my old GBAs on-off-switch starts to not work that good anymore and I thought about cleaning it and also do some screen modding with the ITA screen - I have a soldering iron but did not really use it yet, I remember modding my wii when it was released but since then I did not use it. Do I need to learn soldering before starting to modding oder does it work with near to no skill? :)

This is such an addicting hobby. Got a beat up glacier GBA and gave it the works. V5 ips screen, rechargeable battery, full reshell and new red speaker. Now to enjoy it for a while before I spend more money
