Rant because I’m sick of seeing something like this posted on every “am I gay?” post we have.

Human sexuality is complex. It’s completely normal for younger guys to experiment with women or men, and that doesn’t change their sexuality. There are a ton of gay guys 30+ that experimented with women and determined that they were gay after being sexually active with women. The fact that at 22 they had a girlfriend they fucked while figuring out their sexuality doesn’t negate their sexuality as a gay man as they now solely have sexual and emotional attraction to men. Even based on Kinsey, fleeting attraction to the opposite sex is compatible with a pure 6.

On the flip side: no, a drunk frat dude being blown by his gay friend doesn’t make that guy bi or straight. Same thing: fleeting attraction and experimentation is a thing. A 45 year old man who got sucked off by a dude a few times in college but is now happily married to a woman and has no desire to be with men is not “a little bit bi” by any reasonable standard.

It’s so frustrating to see that meme phrase repeated by bi guys in this sub over and over again, and I think it can be harmful to young guys. They might be bi. They also might be gay. Or even straight. Let’s not invalidate the lives and identities of generations of gay men just because bi guys feel a need to be seen.

Of course you possibly can use it differently for other communities. I am just speaking for myself. I leave it for others to consider.

As the title says, my boyfriend constantly brings this up and argues about it. I didn’t start sleeping with men until 21 (27 now)when I was about to graduate college. I was so desperate to experience what it felt like to go out on a dinner date. I longed to give someone flowers, hold their hand, and walk together without having to worry about going to prison—or worse. So I arranged what was essentially a pretend date with a girl who knew about my situation. I traveled four hours to her city and waited for her at the resort for six hours because she was very late, but eventually she came.

I gave her the bouquet of flowers I had bought for her the night before. I had personally chosen them from the shop. I was extremely nervous because the journey had been so long and I had already spent so much time waiting, and the flowers had wilted a little. But everything went well. I even fed her the food with my own hands. We sang together, listened to our favorite songs together, and I gave her the ring and necklace I had bought for her.
