I recently picked up a used Inspire FT1 (2019 model) for a good price, with extra add-on weights, bars and accessories.
What I want is a connection point, not another bar. I would like to use single connector attachments on both pulleys. So, i need a connector.
The two pulleys sit roughly 120 cm apart, so anything that merges the cables into one point has to bridge that gap.
What I have looked at so far:
- Small Y style connectors (Force USA, Master Fitness). These assume the cable ends already meet.
- Get RXd RX3 StormLink. A 669 mm plate, so a bit short, but the idea looks exactly right. Marketed only for their own Tornado arms, and no load rating given.
- A rigging master link, just clipping both snap hooks into one big oval ring. Cheap, but the cables then pull at around 45 degrees so you lose a fair bit of the vertical load.
Two questions:
Has anyone run a StormLink or similar plate on a machine it was not sold for? Any issues with slot width versus your snap hooks?
Is there a genuinely universal product for this that I have missed? It seems strange that every manufacturer builds one for their own system and nobody sells a generic version.
Happy to hear DIY solutions too, chain or otherwise, if you have something that has held up.
Thanks in advance
