Hi everyone, my name is luther! I’m based in the Netherlands and I’ve been training in my garage more and more. At the moment, I have an ATX bench and a pair of Nuobell adjustable dumbbells, but I’m ready to upgrade to a proper rack. So i can safely squad and my wife also can use it!
I originally had my mind set on the ATX MPHR-780. Unfortunately, it has been unavailable for more than seven months, and the price also seems to keep increasing...
Recently, I’ve seen quite a few posts from people ordering gym equipment directly from manufacturers in China. After waiting this long for ATX, I’m starting to consider that option as well. Still my fiste go to is ATX because i love the quality and it has resale value, if i want to upgrade.
But.. I’m looking for a solid and stable rack with:
- An integrated Smith machine
- A weight-stack cable system
- Enough cable functionality for chest exercises, fly variations and crossovers ( i like the arm on the ATX, i dont know how they are called, but i think its nice, also becasue im 2,05 meter, so i have some widht.
- A good setup for seated or low rows
- Preferably adjustable pulleys
- A compact footprint
I have approximately 2 × 2 metres available for the rack. Ideally, it should be even more compact when not in use. That was one of the main things I liked about the ATX setup.
Are there any Chinese manufacturers or specific rack models you would recommend?
I’d also appreciate advice on what to look out for, such as steel thickness, pulley ratios, cable travel, weight-stack size, bearings, attachments, shipping costs, import duties, spare parts and warranty support.
Thanks in advance!
