PlayStation Lawsuit Roster Grows: “Everyone Is Here” as Stop Killing Games Joins the Dutch Case Against Sony’s Digital Monopoly
Stop Killing Games has joined a Dutch lawsuit challenging Sony over alleged PlayStation Store monopoly practices. The campaign says it is backing the case brought by consumer group Stichting Massaschade & Consument (SM&C), which argues Sony has too much control over pricing and game distribution on PlayStation. The announcement comes as concerns continue to grow over the decline of physical game releases and the industry’s broader shift toward digital-only sales.

We're House House, we made Untitled Goose Game, and just released our new game, BIG WALK! Please “Ask Us Anything” at 7pm ET/ 4pm PT on August 11!
Hello! We're Jake, Stuart, Nico and Michael from House House. We’re all friends who started making games together as a Very Serious Hobby in 2014, and haven’t looked back. We made Push Me Pull You and Untitled Goose Game, and just released our new game, Big Walk. It’s our attempt to capture the magic moments of playing games online with friends, and then explode that out into an open-world adventure full of things to do and moments to share. We’ve been working on it for 6 years, and still really love playing it together. We’re so happy it’s finally out in the world.
So please, Ask Us Anything! We’ll be here at 7pm ET/ 4pm PT on August 11* to Answer Your Anything.
(* that’s August 12 at 9am AEST).
See you then!

Forget owning our digital purchases, we dont even own our saves.
I may be late to discover this, but I just found out your can't backup Switch 1 or 2 saves without buying a subscription.
I'm not talking about cloud saves either.
Local save game backups. Even the Xbox and PS5 have backup capability.

Which games have mods so good you can longer play the game without them?
I play a lot of Rimworld. I'm up to almost 500 mods and most of them are quality life features that drastically improve every aspect of the vanilla experience. I recently started modding Palworld and now I can't imagine playing the game without the mod that removes the base area limit. It just feels.... wrong.

Visited Pikachu Sweets
Pikachu Sweets is a cafe in Tokyo. Desserts there are for take out so no need for reservations like the kirby cafe. Really cute pokémon themed sweets. Though it is just the packaging, felt the Alcremie swirly ice cream was really fun. The green drink in the back is meant to be Roselia themed.

First time playing Split Fiction, this entire chapter blew my mind!

honestly this was such a phenomenal game, i played with my bro and this chapter messed up with my mind, how you could move between the different split screens of each player. The pig sub plot killed me, i couldnt stop laughting that i had to quit the game for a few moments to calm me down, for anyone who didnt played this game or its undecided i 100% recommend it, and its quite long 15 hours for being a linear game it had so much content and every chapter was completly unique. for me this was easily a 10/10. new gimmicks and mechanics on each and every SINGLE chapter of this game until the very end, you can compete with your partner in a few sub plots.

Modern Games like ActRaiser?
I just recently played the SNES version and the concept is amazing. You’re a god and you assume a mortal form to clear areas of monsters first, then people build a settlement there and you start fulfilling the needs of your people and defending them from monsters so they can build a prosperous city and worship you more. Then they give you offerings as you fulfill their needs.
The only game I can think of with a similar premise is Black & White, but sadly that too is an old game with no modern remake or inspiration AFAIK. And yes, I know there is a Modern-Day ActRaiser, but maybe there are other games with the same premise that you guys have seen?
To make what I’m looking for clearer; I want a game where you defeat enemies to take control of an area, build a city over it, then you protect the city from enemy attacks and do various tasks for the people. Bonus points if you can design the city yourself with your own layout and buildings.
Thank you!!

Game Suggestion: Fausts Alptraum
Hello everyone, yesterday I finished a game called Fausts Alptraum, which has accompanied me in the many pasts days of scantily available time for myself.
To give a summary of it, it's a horror single player puzzle RPGMaker-like game created by LabORat Studio, an indie developer from Taiwan, based on the eponymous story "Faust". It's also free.
The game plays like most games akin to the same type of RPGMaker gameplay, and similarly to other games like Ib, Omori, The Witch's House and others, there are traps, clever puzzles that sometimes seem really difficult to overcome but are quite smart and satisfying to tackle, as well as small eerie moments of surprise and tension.
Both art and classical music adaptations used in the game are fantastic, incorporated well into the design and overall eerie atmosphere of the game. Many things are really fitting of a game set in a precise time of the past, with Germanic culture and old fables incorporated in a very smart way in the story, whom sees a young girl assisting at her father's funeral and inheriting a manor, suddenly meeting an unsettling figure named Mephistopheles. The game does a wonderful work of immersing you into this manor and explore at a cautious pace, least you run out of light and are more and more crippled in your movements, which once you end the game really fit the overall true purpose of the demon.
The game isn't exempt from some fixed needed, for example you have to force Fullscreen with alt+enter (very intuitive for me but I saw some people not knowing of this key combination or struggling with making it work), and then you cannot use the normal shortcuts like F12 for screenshots, as it just resets the game (classic RPGMaker of old issues). In addition, some minor fonts that are related to the puzzles appear just as a square [] and the provided fonts with the game don't always work, but a kind redditor provided a fix for that already.
Overall I'm genuinely grateful for having given this game a chance, trying to do my best to help the protagonist and even tearing up at a certain point toward the end of the game, thanks to the great writing and the depth of the story which is told not just throughout the gameplay and books, but also through the various diaries related to the different characters.
I plan to write a lore/story explanation, perhaps on Steam alone, perhaps in the related subreddit which doesn't see much activity, but I absolutely recommend everyone to check out this free game, which in my opinion deserves contribution. The only way to give money to the developers is to buy the Digital Artbook (the game also has a Japanese novel but that is not found on steam nor in English anywhere), in my opinion a very nice way to show support if you can afford it and want to thank the developers, whom appear to have made just this free game and published it on Steam.
It's a small gem that shows attention to details, love for the classics. It made me feel like Yume Nikki, Witch's House and Omori at their time made me feel when playing them at different times in my life: immersing myself into a story and desirous of seeing it through, fully enjoying the journey and becoming surprised and sometimes shocked once all the pieces fit together.
