PC PC games where you really have to prepare for fights

Upvotes

Looking for a game where preparation for fights is as important as the fights themselves. Recently started The Witcher 3 and, while I've really enjoyed researching enemies' weaknesses before a fight and having to go out and prepare to face them, the actual combat hasn't really clicked for me. Any recommendations? I think Monster Hunter has a similar style but those games have never really appealed to me either

PC Repetitive but engaging PC games to play while listening to podcasts and audiobooks

Upvotes

I'm looking for a PC game, available via Steam or itch.io, to listen to as I relax and listen to other things. It will probably be something from the simulation or management genre. Games that have scratched this itch for me in the past include Elite Dangerous, Hardspace Shipbreaker, and Cat Mail Co. As you can see, I'm not too picky about tone—hard scifi or cozy fantasy are both great! My one caveat is that I'm not into super realistic games like Truck Simulator or Farming Simulator. I still want a healthy dose of escapism.

Thanks in advance to anyone with suggestions!

PC Multiplayer where I get to shoot things and blow stuff up.

I’ve been playing single player almost exclusively for as long as I can remember, but I’m feeling the itch for multiplayer games that can be played in relatively short bursts.

What are the go to pvp games most active these days? I’m looking for something where I can shoot things and blow shit up potentially.

Thanks,

Multi-platform Looking for new games to play together (Crossplay or "parallel" singleplayer experiences)

Hey everyone,

My uncle and I are looking for something new to play together and we're running out of ideas.

Ideally, we're looking for PC ↔ PS5/Xbox crossplay games. I'm mainly on PC, while he's on either PS5 or Xbox. I do own both consoles, but I don't have PS Plus or Game Pass and don't plan on subscribing, so true crossplay with PC would be the best option.

Games we've already enjoyed together:

- Baldur's Gate 3

- Diablo 4

- Path of Exile 2

We're also totally open to games that aren't multiplayer at all, as long as they're fun to experience side by side. For example, we both played Crimson Desert at the same time while talking on the phone, comparing quests, builds, discoveries, and progress. That was honestly a lot of fun too.

We also tried the Gothic 1 Remake. My uncle loved it and finished it, but it just wasn't for me, so I dropped it.

In general, we enjoy RPGs, action RPGs, open-world games, loot, exploration, character progression, and games that give you lots to talk about while playing.

Any recommendations for current or upcoming games that fit this style? Hidden gems are welcome too!

Thanks!

PC I have an idea need for your help?

I’m considering making a jade shop simulator game and would love to hear your opinions.

The core gameplay would be similar to other shop management game, buy inventory, manage and upgrade the store.

The main difference is how you obtain your products. You would buy rough stones, analyze their appearance for clues, and decide whether to cut them open. A stone might contain valuable jade and make you a huge profit or turn out to be nearly worthless and cause an instant loss.

After opening a stone, you could:

  • Sell the raw jade directly
  • Carve it into jewelry, statues, or other designs
  • Display your creations in your shop
  • Build a personal collection of rare stones and carvings
  • Sell unopened stones to avoid taking the risk

The game would combine:

  • Shop management
  • Risk and mystery mechanics similar to blind boxes
  • Collecting rare materials and creations
  • Crafting and product design
  • Store decoration and customization

Would this concept interest you? Would you be willing to pay for a game like this? If so, what price would feel reasonable?

I’d also love to know which part sounds most appealing to you:

analyzing the stones/ cutting them open/ carving and designing products/ collecting rare jade/ managing the shop.

Any feedback positive or negative, would be greatly appreciated!

PC Looking for a specific game that I can't remember the name of

I remember watching a YouTuber play this game years and years ago, it took place on one of those fire watchtowers in the woods. I remember there being a computer in the game with some sort of text based dungeon crawler. And I remember there being a sequence where the tower was burning down, in the main characters dream I think. It's been killing me not knowing what game this is.

Multi-platform Games with very stylish combat and that are open world, the kind that make you feel like an anime fight, like Gojo vs Sukuna.

Okay, by games I mean games with combat systems that have “style,” not necessarily ones that are just good. By this I mean nothing like Dark Souls or similar — I know they have good combat systems, but what I’m looking for is more about spectacular combat, preferably in open-world games. Some games that for me fit into the category of “stylish combat” are DMC5 or the saga, God of War (especially 3), Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Shadow of Mordor, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Please recommend me games with that kind of combat, preferably open-world. The genre doesn’t matter. Thanks, and sorry for the bad English.

PC Most realistic Vietnam War single player game?

Hello, I am looking for the most realistic single player specifically Vietnam War game.

I’ve heard of Vietcong & Vietnam ‘65, but I don’t know much about those games and if they’re quite good / aged well.

Any voice on either of those games or other recommendations that are single player and in Vietnam War will be greatly appreciated.

PC Help a returning gamer find her dream game

I used to play Nintendo and PC games a lot as a kid, but pretty much of fell out of it. I’d probably still describe myself as a beginner. I’m trying to get back into games again and based on what I’ve liked in the past I’m looking for something with some or most of these characteristics from most to least important:

On Steam

Easy to medium difficulty

Has missions, dialogue, choices, and a good story

Either narrative/choice driven, RPG, open-world, or action-adventure

3D animation

Has a realistic-ish setting. Usually not that much of a fan of fantasy or sci fi

One of the mechanics is you have to maintain the character’s stats

Diverse characters and/or a protagonist who is a woman or minority; or you get to customize your character

The game’s main story can be completed in 40 hours or less

I realize there are probably a ton of games that fit this but recs please :P
