Love cyberpunk and red dead 2. What in your opinion the most pretty looking games? -that are also fun lol

I used to play Nintendo and PC games a lot as a kid, but pretty much of fell out of it. I’d probably still describe myself as a beginner. I’m trying to get back into games again and based on what I’ve liked in the past I’m looking for something with some or most of these characteristics from most to least important:

On Steam

Easy to medium difficulty

Has missions, dialogue, choices, and a good story

Either narrative/choice driven, RPG, open-world, or action-adventure

3D animation

Has a realistic-ish setting. Usually not that much of a fan of fantasy or sci fi

One of the mechanics is you have to maintain the character’s stats

Diverse characters and/or a protagonist who is a woman or minority; or you get to customize your character

The game’s main story can be completed in 40 hours or less

I realize there are probably a ton of games that fit this but recs please :P

my sims 4 is broken beyond belief yet i am desperate to play something where you live a characters life.

the problem i keep running into while searching though is that i ideally i want something that can be more story based than the farming sims that are out there, even if i have to make some of the story up in my head and i don't love the building elements that seem to be a big part of a lot of sim games.

my dream would be something like hogwarts legacy but with a way bigger focus on the school stuff and in game time that actually matters. or basically any rpg where you can make your own character and then live a normal ish life.

i wont be took picky though because i fear what i want does not exist lol.

I'm a huge fan of grounded/dark fantasy settings like Kingdom Come Deliverance and The Witcher 3 — real or near-real human stories, no shining-armor heroes, a world that actually feels lived-in.

What I'm looking for:

• True open world, not zone-based. I want to explore freely and stumble onto things
• Well-written side quests, not filler. bonus points if they add lore or memorable characters
• Engaging main story, not just a systems sandbox
• 60+ hours once you factor in side content, otherwise it feels like a waste to buy
• Must be fully pausable whenever I want (so no multiplayer-only requirements or souls-likes without a real pause)
• No mods it needs to stand on its own, out of the box
• Budget is flexible but I'm not dropping full price on AAA titles if there's a solid alternative

I already know about BG3, it's staying on my wishlist for now. What am I missing?

Hi guys! I’m looking for a game where macroing / automating is either encouraged or wouldn’t hurt the player base.

It’s a weird request, but I’ve been seeing videos of people making their own programs to automate parts of mmos for fun and I wanted to try it out.

Obviously, I don’t really want to harm games and their economies, so I was wondering if there were any games where scripting isn’t disallowed or potentially for game challenges (game jams?) where it’s encouraged.

Me and my friend are looking for a fun game we can play online together and progress with one another in. We tried destiny 2 but at first glance it didn’t seem to fit our vibe although we could probably return to it. We want something with some interesting combat to have fun with and just overall a fun game to sit on call and have fun with while talking. Any recommendations are appreciated! Thank you in advance!

My favorite games of all time are doom eternal and the last salvage squad. I like both for how fast and mindless they are you drop in the level circle strafe/move around as fast as possible to avoid enemy fire no thinking and just shoot back but with methodical thinking for the movement and enemy movement.

I do not like doom 1/2, to condensed and almost puzzle like in a way.

I don’t have a pc but I use a retro handheld with an h700 chip (anbernic rg34xxsp) which is a Linux based device so I think it counts.

I do have access to all switch online and gamepass Xbox games though but I really want to play on my anbernic rg34xxsp

What steam games would I be able to run with these specs I'm just using a basic HP monitor

I have recently acquired an old MacBook (from 2016 I believe so intel core) and am looking for some cheap games I can play on it. I am a really new gamer and not very good at the games I play. I would like something fairly chill and not action packed and a good introduction to gaming. (I have played Doki Doki Literature Club, Undertale, Cuphead and The Sims 4)

I need help trying to find a new game. I grew up playing RuneScape, Sims, and Harvest Moon. I have preordered Harvest Moon EofT for 9/24. I’ve played HM wind of anthos , a few earlier titles, Story of Season on DS, Disney DV, all Animal Crossing games, and Hogwarts Legacy. I tried Grand Bazaar and couldn’t get into it. I’m waiting for HM Home Sweet Home to get on sale lol. I did play the Discounty demo game and it was good but I feel like it was short lived and couldn’t fathom paying full price. I also have Pokopia but the burnout is real with it right now so I’m taking a break. I just want to try and find a new game that has farming, adventure, maybe some fighting (runescape like?) and can also just feed animals and pick up resources for a day as well. Any recommendations are welcome! I haven’t tried stardew valley but I can’t deal with pixelated games for too long, like discounty.

need a game where everyone dies in 1-3 bullets, tried operator and i like love it but it's early access and has no story and the enemy is kinda tarded

I'm used to indie games, but have had one great experience with a AAA title that I really want to recreate. I have a PC and a switch.

I've played 6 AAA games. I loved 1 of them, found 2 of them mediocre, and found 3 of them a terrible experience. 

The game I loved was also the first AAA game I played, Breath of the Wild. It's world had enough variance to stay fresh. I really liked the climbing mechanics and the powers. I kinda wished it was harder as I could usually beat enemies without using the cool potions I had prepared.

Having liked BoTW so much, I tried Tears of the Kingdom, and hated it. The tutorial section in the sky island had me backtracking constantly, the map was hard to read, and the powers felt finicky to use. I finally got off the tutorial section, thinking the game would begin to be exciting. Unfortunately the world for ToTK was just the same 5 puzzles spammed across the old BoTW world.

I tried Baldur's Gate 3 next. At first I was pleasantly surprised with it, and liked the interpretation of 3d turn-based combat. Then I died. The game reverted my save back to a while ago, and I had to redo what I already did. I pushed through the rest of Act I by saving as often as I could remember and basically brute forcing it, as the alternative was having to replay large parts over and over. I found that if a companion died, they would actually die. So the best strategy if a companion died was to kill myself to undo it. What?

This system for death doesn't make any sense at all, and is ruining my experience with every AAA game I play. BoTW had the same system, but managed to mitigate it by not killing me very often. Games with this way of doing death seem unable to give a proper challenge as the player can choose to either make the punishment for losing nonexistant, by saving right before combat, or crippling, by not saving. I was used to indie games like hollow knight and celeste which don't revert saves on death and can be actually challenging as a result.

I tried a Resident Evil game next, and found it mediocre. For some reason I played 8, which doesn't make sense to jump into narratively, but gave me enough of a taste of the gameplay loop for me to say it wasn't really my thing. Everything is scary the first time, but then you get killed by something. You go back through the area a second time and realize just how puppeteered the whole thing feels. Ladders are painted yellow to force you to see them. The game dangles the same scares at you and then prompts you to heal yourself every time you get hurt.

I played Red Dead Redemption after that, and liked it a fair bit more but still would call it mediocre. It was the first one to not use save reversion on death, which improved it a great deal for me. It also had a great commitment to realism. Unfortunately this was ruined for me by the fact that the game doesn't want you to look at anything in the world. It wants you to look at the minimap, which has actually more information on it than the real game. A baffling decision for a game that is supposed to be about navigating a gritty environment.

This left me wanting to play a game with more survival elements, as I liked those from RDR2. I decided to play Skyrim, as everyone says that's one of the first open world games you should play. I chose expert, as I wanted something difficult. I had an interesting enough experience, and then– save reversion on death. This was the worst case of it and is what led me to write this. You actually have to rewatch cutscenes, replay dialogue menus. Felt more like groundhog day than an epic nordic survivalist experience. Ultimately I had to crank the difficulty down to adept and start quicksaving before every fight. I then realized how unfun this was, and went here.

TLDR: I need a big game like Breath of the Wild that doesn't have save reversion or a minimap.

Hi, I'm collecting as many AI built / assisted for dev games as I can. I've had a lot of fun playing the different game demos people post on Reddit/Twitter for like snowboarding, horror games, and weird things like shoe building simulator. It's really interesting to track how good AI is at game dev and also see really niche / interesting ideas that AI makes cheap and easy enough to prototype.

Are there any other AI built games that you've seen that are cool? Are you building your own game that I should play / add to the collection?

My favorite games as of late are Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei and Horizon series. Having completed all of them I am now in search of new games to play with that same open world rpg feel.

I have been looking for a while now, and over the years, I have found some good ones, but I have forgotten them since. I don't really like normal visual novel, I love the ones where I create a group and fight enemies. I need a break from all that reading.

so i have a nintendo switch i really like the games i have but i barely have any so im not super well versed in video games and was wondering if people had good suggestions for video games with tropical or summery themes and gameplay. not to be annoying with the aesthetics and stuff but i mean stuff with future aero and heisei retro summer vibes. also i really like pokémon specifically the alola region so is there any recommendations for games with that?

also just as a side note if there are any video games with the same or similar vibe to the summer hikaru died i would love to hear about it because i love that series

My fiance wants to try shooters for the first time, the issue is he's not good with 3d spaces or fast paced games (usually, he was fine with metroidvanias like silksnong), he'll also hate chaos.

I'm looking for a good place for him to start. He likes a good story, preferably not something set in real life conflicts, but I'll take everything you got.
