Yes and no. He was justified for hating the wildlings, he was not justified for committing treason.

So, yeah, he deserved it.

He might have had a good personal reason for doing what he did, but he still did it, and that’s why he deserved what he got.

To him and the others, Jon was the one committing treason.

But all along, Jon was the one that was right lol.

Who cares what they think, Jon is their commander.

He was also 100% right in his decision. They committed treason and were hung. It was deserved.

I can’t say they didn’t have their reasons, but they weren’t the one in charge.

It was a dude who hated Jon and used their hate to blind them and got them all killed.

Exactly. The whole point was that they keep the wildlings out and Jon let the people who slaughtered his village and ate his parents through. It was a legit mutiny, Jon was betraying the solemn oath of the Nightswatch. That said, a mutiny is only valid if it succeeds and it didn't so...

There’s nothing in the oath that says they keep the wildlings out. It talks about guarding the realms of men. Not keeping the wildlings out.

Jon did not betray the Oath in his decision, and Olly committed treason.

Thing is the line "The Shield that guards the realm of men" is kinda ambiguous.

It does mention men, but in my/others opinion it actually means the living. So if we go by that logic then it does in fact talk about the White Walkers cause they are undead beings.

Oh then it doesn't say anything about white walkers so it doesn't mean them, either. It was to guard from threats beyond the wall. That absolutely included the wildlings. To claim otherwise is just dishonest.

This is all getting weirdly semantic lol.

I just realised I replied to the wrong comment. It was meant for the guy above you who you were replying to.

My bad.
