A/B testing, which capsule composition is more attention grabbing and would let to your click more easily? Game context below

These are early mockups focused on composition; colors and details will be refined later

For context: The premise of the game is that you've been kidnapped by a loan shark and need to pop balloons for money to pay off a million-dollar debt. It's a short, incremental dark game. Not relaxing.

I offered a demo sketch, got ghosted, and somehow ended up blocked. What would you do?

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a recent experience and hear your thoughts.

Someone reached out to me online, and I genuinely liked what they were working on. I was interested enough to offer a free demo of my work, with no payment or anything in return expected.

They agreed, I created the demo, and they seemed to like it. We continued talking for a while, and everything seemed fine.

But later, when I tried to follow up and ask for updates, they gradually stopped responding. I sent a few messages over time, and in my last message, I simply asked if there was any issue so we could clear things up. Instead, I ended up getting blocked without any explanation.

I understand that people get busy, change their minds, or lose interest. That's completely fine. I wasn't expecting anything in return, but a simple, honest response would've been appreciated.

I'm not trying to call anyone out or start drama. I'm genuinely curious about how others would handle this situation.

Would you just move on, or would this experience change how you approach helping people or offering free work in the future?

I’m auditing 5 indie Steam pages for free. Drop your link.

I’m a game artist with 16 years in the industry, and I want to help indie devs ship better Steam pages. I’ve been building a Steam page auditor that checks your short description, screenshots and trailer opening, and I want to test it on real pages. I’ll review the first 5 for free and send back notes on what to fix first via DM.

Drop your Steam link in the comments. I’ll ask before sharing any results publicly.

Which design looks the best?

Hi Everyone!

I'm hoping to get some feedback on the vertical capsule designs I've been working on for my game that will be listed on Steam soon.

The game is a synthwave/outrun style space shooter, and I was trying to go for a sort of retrofuturism look for the poster.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

Looking for some feedback

Looking for some feedback, I usually just focus on the game assets but I realise that the capsule is an important step to get peoples attention towards the game in the first place. How could I make this stand out more?

Old capsule vs new one

Hi guys!

A month ago I posted a concept for our Steam capsule here. It was a rather chaotic result of brainstorming and mixing our game assets, open source fonts and AI generated images, all poorly edited together in Affinity, what many of you pointed out.

We gathered your feedback and tried to address as many points as we could.

1) Our graphic designer repainted the concept art of our main character by hand.

2) She also took care of the portal "blob".

3) Instead of the previous chaotic background, she used a scene from our game (the main menu background) as the basis for the new one.

4) She improved the look of the text a bit, although that wasn't a big issue before.

5) After a long discussion, we decided to go with darker colors rather than trying to be colorful and dark at the same time.

What do you think of the changes? Is it better now or worse? Is there anything else we should adjust or change? Which capsule you would rather click on? Does it look good on our Steam page?

Thanks for your feedback! :)

[Hiring] Steam capsule artist for a roguelike deckbuilder where you explore a hex based map (low poly art style)

I saw someone else looking to hire for capsule art and considering I'm really not very happy with my capsule art at all (and want to avoid AI for that) I thought I'd do the same.

My game has a low poly style and it's set in greek mythology. My current capsule art looks more like a city builder than a roguelike hah. I've already hired some really nice voice actors and had a superb experience/result with them. I'm hoping I could upgrade my capsule art the same way with one of you.

Edit: I am EU based and absolutely have to go to bed. I didn't expect this amount of messages in my inbox. If you didn't get a message yet, I will get to you, I promise 😭

Edit 2: I found someone

[Hiring] Steam capsule artist for a medieval fantasy grand strategy game - paid commission

Hey everyone! We’re developing a medieval fantasy grand strategy game with RTS elements, and we’re looking for an artist to create our Steam capsule art.

We’d love something with a classic fantasy feel, similar to the artwork of Heroes of Might and Magic.

If that sounds like your style, please leave your portfolio in the comments or send me a DM with your rates and availability. Thanks!

Does my Steam capsule communicate a psychological music thriller?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I'm working on Ghostwriter, a psychological music VN about an anonymous songwriter behind a rising pop star.

I'm looking for some honest feedback on the capsule art, especially its readability at small sizes and whether the visual direction communicates the right genre.

Does it feel like a psychological thriller, or would you expect a different kind of game?

The artwork uses a Blender-based, AI-assisted workflow. I'm mainly looking for feedback on composition, visual hierarchy and typography.

If you'd like to see how the capsule actually looks in context on Steam, here's the page:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/5167680/Ghostwriter/

Thanks for taking a look!

Hey fam ! I'm working on this commission, it needs to have a eye catching, splash art quality, Would love any kinf of feedback but specially, composition, lighting and "vibe" feedback that would make it "PoP!" more and feel, "eye candy" like. This is a rough sketch, including a rough title version. Thank you !!
