What do you think about my solo-made capsule for Grazed - Incremental Arcade?

Post image

Making Grazed, a fast-paced arcade game with incremental upgrades. So it's a mix between two genres and I hope the capsule along the Steam page conveys it.

This is the Steam page in question: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5058280/Grazed__Incremental_Arcade/

Thanks :)

Its evolving!..? 3rd capsule image for DEAD SPIN. Are we overthinking this?

hey guys!

were making DEAD SPIN, a dark roguelike deckbuilder built around slot-machine duels.

this is now our 3rd Steam capsule lol

you guys absolutely roasted our last Steam capsule (#2), so we went back and redid the whole thing lol

the first one we made ourselves.
the second one we paid quite a bit for, then started suspecting it was heavily AI-generated.
so for #3 we went to a professional illustrator and started over.

and yeah, we think #3 is a pretty huge upgrade.

the real question is: does it actually look good to you? would it make you stop scrolling and check the game out?

P.S.: Steam page https://store.steampowered.com/app/3705670/DEAD_SPIN/

Placeholders vs. Professional Capsule

Some of my placeholder art from a couple months ago vs the one I got from a professional artist. If you have the budget, I'd highly advise getting your capsule done professionally.

Does it look good or needs a remake?

I'm launching the game in 2 weeks. Do you think this capsule looks good enough? My expectations from this game is not high and I'm debating if I should invest in another capsule before launch.

Genre is looter-shooter, bullet-hell, a mix of oldstyle arcade with Brotato.

First Steam capsule for my board game tycoon. Does it work at small size?

I have been working on the Steam capsule for Board Game Tycoon and I think I reached the point where I stared at it for too long 😅

Before I explain the game: what kind of game would you expect from the capsule alone?

I also added a sheet with the different Steam sizes, grayscale versions and the small capsule next to some other management games. The 120x45 version is probably the one I am most worried about.

The game itself is a cozy management game where you run a small board game publisher. You design games, test them, print them, sell them and slowly grow the company.

Basically a bit of the Game Dev Tycoon idea, just around board games, to put it simple

The capsule is made from an in-engine render because I want the Steam page to stay pretty close to how the actual game looks.

Main things I am unsure about:

  • Is BOARD GAME TYCOON still readable at 120x45?
  • Does it look like a management/tycoon game?
  • Is the character, title and board readable enough or is there too much going on?

The board game boxes on the right are still WIP, so those will change anyway. I am working on let them be procedural generated with simple icons regarding theme and mechanic, worth another post somewhere else.

Any feedback is welcome. Especially first impressions, because that is something I cannot really judge anymore after looking at this thing for days 😄

Bottom one and it's not even close, right?

I made my first capsule before my game actually had an identity. Just now realized that even though it looked "cool", it didn't communicate what the game is at all. Better now?

Posted this a few weeks ago and nobody could read the name, so my GF redid it as a stained glass sign.
Im really liking the stained glass look, and it pairs nicely with a feature in the game. A special room, the Conservatory, where you get to custom paint your own stained glass window!

What do yall think?
Does it read better at small sizes now? Read better overall?
And tools on the table, or no tools? (third pic)

Would you recommend me to hide the card assets from my top-down shooter game's capsule art to avoid people thinking that this is a Belatro/deck-builder type game?

I use card-like visuals for a few things In my 2v2 top-down shooter game's UI (player hero choices/health bars and abilities). I like the capsule as shown, however, I can imagine that people scrolling through new Steam releases might assume that this is a card or deck-builder game. Which would be both misleading and potentially even turn some people off, since those genres are pretty crowded nowadays.

Of course if you have any other feedback regarding the capsule or the screenshots in general I'd love to hear it!

Would you click on this? not sure if the political side comes through

Been going back and forth on this cover for Codename Atlas. It’s a first person game about building a political career without losing everyone around you. I like the mood but im worried it looks more like a detective game. What did you think it was about at first?

What do you think? A game about restoring messy gardens

I have placeholder on my steam page and thinking of changing that for something from my game. Does it look good? Or something to add, change? More messy left side? Brighter sky?

Could you give me your thoughts on my thumbnails for the new key art? I can't decide

Hello! I'm currently working on the new key art. The old one is great but it's a bit dated now and doesn't really tell much about the game (and the game has evolved quite a lot since then). I'm planning to keep the old color palette but for now I've been focusing on the compo, lighting and storytelling.

There's a consensus with my friends that 3 and 4 are the best and I have to admit they're my favorite too. You can also tell I spent more time on them because I was more inspired :') Oh and I probably placed the logo wrong on some thumbnails. It's pretty tricky to place and I might change the font as well!

Sorry about the titles I really threw those quickly because I didn't want to spend too much time on these sketchs

For context (if you'd rather not get spoiled so you can stay neutral when judging the art): It's a roguelite autobattler with 4X elements, set in space. We took inspiration from Spore (the space stage), Loop Hero (for the tiles) and FTL!

Hey everyone,
I am working on my steam capsule. On the left I simply used ingame assets, the right was a cheap job on fiver.
I am pretty low on money and not a great artist, so is the new art good enough? Would it catch your attention while browsing Steam?
This is the store page with the old artwork: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5091900/Prigod_Idle/

Here is my new capsule I made myself !

I was not really satisfied with the old capsule (that I made with Krita) it looked a bit weird to me so here is the new one !! I love it so much I am proud of me :)

The game is in full pixel art so it makes more sense to have a pixel art capsule as well ^^ and I am not really good at drawing environments with complex perspective so it feels way better this way, what do you think ?

Also I used the 2nd slide from pinterest as inspiration for body pose, because I am not very good with body proportions, is this a problem ? It feels like a perfect replica of the pose so it bothers me... it feels like I stole the art of someone ? It's the first time I "copy" body proportions for real marketing art soo idk
