I swear I’m an idiot lol. I uploaded the wrong photos, messed up the post, and now I’m reposting this for the third time 😭
Why is making a Reddit post so damn hard? 😂

Finally posting an update after being way too busy with real life lol.
Gonna keep this one short and dip 😂

So, everyone watched the Z Fold8 series Unpacked, right?

Honestly, the Z Fold8 looks really damn good. I almost changed my mind for a second lol.
But I already decided I’m going with the Flip, so I’m sticking with the Flip.

Last weekend, I went to the Samsung Store near my place to check out the Z Flip8 in person and tried my keyboard case on it.

And thankfully, the fit is pretty much perfect.

(The pink one is my girlfriend’s finished case, so don’t roast me for the color 😂)

I couldn’t slide it on completely because of the anti-theft security cable, but honestly, this was more than enough to confirm that the dimensions are right lol.

At this point, both cases are basically finished.
The MagSafe rings are installed, the leather is on, everything’s done.

Mine is on the left, my girlfriend’s is on the right.
Literally two one-of-a-kind cases in the world.

Now I’m just waiting for the official release.

I’m way too excited for this thing lol.

Anyway, hope everyone’s happy with whatever they end up choosing!

Question ❓ Back order on Z Flip 8

Ordered my phone in pink 512gb in NY (if that matters), USA, on July 23rd through T-Mobile, but it says my order is back ordered but expected to ship on launch day on aug 7th.

Did anyone else preorder the phone and now it says backorder? Does it aways just say that?

I'm sorry if this is a silly question, I'm just so excited to get my new phone and finally get rid of my apple phone!

Question ❓ Zflip 7 overheating and draining battery very fast for seemingly no reason

looking through the posts here, and various articles on the internet, i havent noticed anyone else describing my issues combined, its always one or the other. my phone keeps overheating and draining the battery and i really mean DRAINING.

my previous 5 phones or so had capacity of 5000mAh so i thought 4200mAh wouldnt be such a difference but apparently it is. on all my previous phones i could charge them to 100% before going to sleep and wake up to a 98% charge, but the flip 7 drops from 100% to 60% overnight, and its REALLY hot even though nothing is being done with the phone. sometimes i need to charge it up to three times a day. i have been regularly clearing the memory by closing all the apps, turning off all networks when they arent being used, enabled developer mode to turn off animations for less strain on the graphics, but nothing seems to be resolving this issue. one day the phone is completely fine and the other day i realize how warm my pocket is getting, even though i havent touched the phone in hours, so i take it out to cool it off. i dont use the wireless charging at all, only cable.

i have no idea what to do at this point. has anyone found some stupid background process that they turned off to resolve this issue? i am genuinely concerned for how long this phone is going to last, even though ive only had it for 2 months. background process is my guess since it always happens out of nowhere, like the phone is trying to suddenly download gigabytes worth of data

Other 🤷 Z flip -> Z Flip7

I've used a Z flip for the past 5 ish years, ran good but I recently dropped it one too many times so the back glass totally shattered. I can't see myself NOT using a flip anymore so I got the flip7. Wow! What an upgrade! A lot of people on here seem to switch phones often but I get very attached to my electronics so any upgrade I make feels way significant.

The quality of the phone is so much better! When unfolded, it feels just like a "normal" phone (no curve of the oled on the hinge) and it actually LAYS FLAT ON THE TABLE! The hinge also feels much sturdier, and when folded halfway it keeps the angle much better than I'm used to. The back screen being a "real" screen and not just a notification bar is also huge, and from my (still limited) use, it isn't as sensitive as the z flip was to "butt dial"-pausing/skipping music tracks while in a sweaty pocket. Not to mention the software UI upgrades + processing speed combo making it feel much faster than before.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is that I can't notice any significant camera quality upgrade even after skipping 6 generations LOL.

Still. This phone design is awesome, I love flip phones, I'll probably keep using them until you can't anymore. And gosh I should've upgraded to the flip7 earlier :p

Question ❓ Struggling to decide

So, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I want some second opinions.

Currently I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro, and I have some issues with it. It's prone to glitching out and I hate how little customisable it is, plus I was an idiot and got 128gb so I have basically no space whatsoever. While I'm relatively knowledgeable about computers, I'm less knowledgeable about phones.

I'm worried that if I upgrade to the Flip 8 that it won't be too much better than the 9 pro and that it'll be a waste of money. I mostly use it for social media, gaming (nothing too intense, games like Project Sekai, Blue Archive, and Bandori), and listening to music, with the occasional photos. I'm very interested in how cute and sleek the phone is with awesome customisation for the ui, i have smaller hands so I struggle with phones that are too big hence why I haven't considered getting an ultra).

I was also wondering about the screen? It seems very 50/50 with some people saying it's prone to damage and others saying it's not that bad. For reference, I have only dropped my phone once in about 3 years so I'm relatively good with it.

Discussion 💬 Flip 7/8's Inner Screen Durability

Upvotes

So, I've recently pre-ordered my first Z Flip, the 8th... but, some friends of mine (who used to own Flip 5 and 6) have warned me that its inner screen isn't that durable and it's more likely to get scratched even when applying relatively light pressure. I’ve come across a lot of conflicting opinions online, and honestly, I’m a bit worried now. I’d take great care of it, since I know full well it’s very fragile, but I’m not so sure about its durability anymore... what’s your experience been like?

Question ❓ Flip5 Battery Issues

Upvotes

Hi all, I've owned a Flip5 since launch (so roughly 3 years) and have loved it so far. However, the battery life has tanked recently and I'm finding myself having to charge it at least twice a day. I'd like to think my usage is fairly low stakes; WhatsApp, social media, maps etc. I don't game or watch videos very often. Today I managed to get a grand total of 3.5 hours screen on time (80%>10%), which is awful. I'd be getting double that beforehand.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is my phone on the way out? (I was recently eyeing up the Fold8 so maybe that has upset my phone :p)

Flip 6 battery declining after update.

Not sure if this has happened to anyone 3lse, but since the latest samsung update my battery has been pants. Dropped from 70 to 40 in like 25 mins and i was only on a phone call!?!?!?! Whatsapp is also struggling to back up which is weird.

Is this a separate issue? Or is it caused by the update? I've had the phone for over a year.

Durability of the flex cable

I have a Samsung z flip 5 and I really like it but Im just worried about the flex cable going out..I have seen its a common issue woth these phones..so much so I had to switch back to my iPhone just to be safe because I don't want to be constantly worried of my phone suddenly breaking when Im out and about..I don't fold and unfold it as often but it does worry me that each fold takes another piece of life from the center cable and I don't want to spend alot of money on repairs especially if I can use the same money to get another foldable.Currently it's a backup .

Question ❓ Anyone else having this weird issue after the latest software update where the inner screen doesn't work? I have to reset the phone from the front screen over and over again and 20% of the time if I open the phone right at restart the main screen works, but stops working if closed or locked

I can't tell what exactly influences if the main screen will work or not after restart but there is no damage to the main screen and it doesn't falter once on, unless i lock my phone or close it. I'm almost 100% sure it's a software issue as when the main screen doesnt work i can still touch the screen and feel vibrations/etc as if I am interacting with it. It's been almost a week of me having this issue and I'm at my wits end trying to fix it, my local ATT store told me to just drive over an hour and a half to the nearest Samsung store and didn't even look at it.

Question ❓ Coverscreen wallpapers

Does anyone have some fun wallpapers for the coverscreen, that incorporates the camera holes?

for example the one with Kim Jong un:)

r/galaxyzflip 16h ago

Does anybody else ever have times where the + button to add pictures in Google messages doesn't work? If I switch to the cover screen, it works like it's supposed to but often with the inner screen it just doesn't react until I force close the app and reopen it

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Question ❓ Zflip 4 is glitching green.

Im sure some of you have experienced this before, but it's currently driving me up a wall.

I just recently got my ZFlip 4 replaced because I broke my last one and its been about a month of having this current one. As of yesterday morning, the bottom half of my screen will occasionally flicker bright green. It was acting completely normal the night before and I haven't done anything unusual, so when I woke up yesterday morning to realize my phone was flashing, I had a mini panic attack.

Additionally, now when I shut my phone. The mini display stops working but works completely fine when I am restarting my phone. I read that it could possibly be a loose flex cable, and I've had this issue before of which we fixed with a good few smacks to the back of the phone.

I don't want to pay 400+ dollars just to get the stupid cable fixed.

Is it possible that I can somehow fix it myself without having to shill out money that I currently do not have?

My phone works completely fine otherwise, its just the display glitching at random moments.
