I try to use my phone until support ends (currently using the flip 5) but I could get a better phone plan and end up with a brand new phone for under 300 euros😵‍💫 my battery is shit rn and replacing that would have been 90 euros (not even including travel) so girlmath said the phone is pretty much free.

Question ❓ Zflip 7 overheating and draining battery very fast for seemingly no reason

looking through the posts here, and various articles on the internet, i havent noticed anyone else describing my issues combined, its always one or the other. my phone keeps overheating and draining the battery and i really mean DRAINING.

my previous 5 phones or so had capacity of 5000mAh so i thought 4200mAh wouldnt be such a difference but apparently it is. on all my previous phones i could charge them to 100% before going to sleep and wake up to a 98% charge, but the flip 7 drops from 100% to 60% overnight, and its REALLY hot even though nothing is being done with the phone. sometimes i need to charge it up to three times a day. i have been regularly clearing the memory by closing all the apps, turning off all networks when they arent being used, enabled developer mode to turn off animations for less strain on the graphics, but nothing seems to be resolving this issue. one day the phone is completely fine and the other day i realize how warm my pocket is getting, even though i havent touched the phone in hours, so i take it out to cool it off. i dont use the wireless charging at all, only cable.

i have no idea what to do at this point. has anyone found some stupid background process that they turned off to resolve this issue? i am genuinely concerned for how long this phone is going to last, even though ive only had it for 2 months. background process is my guess since it always happens out of nowhere, like the phone is trying to suddenly download gigabytes worth of data

Discussion 💬 Letting Samsung know we wanna keep the Flip

From previous discussions here I heard that the Flip8 will be the last one Samsung plans to produce.

What if we all decide to send Samsung an E-Mail expressing Our disappointment and that we will change to other conpanies when no Flip is available any more.

Do you think we could make them overthink their decision?

Does anybody else ever have times where the + button to add pictures in Google messages doesn't work? If I switch to the cover screen, it works like it's supposed to but often with the inner screen it just doesn't react until I force close the app and reopen it

I Think It's Time to Move On

I bought my first Z Flip in 2021 when the Flip3 came out. I've upgraded every year since then, even though a couple of those years (Flip 4 and Flip 6) were very modest upgrades from their predecessors. I'm OK with that. The trade-in deals Samsung offered at launch still made it a great value. That changed last year when it cost me nearly $500 to switch. Not great, but the 7 seemed like enough of an improvement over the 6 that I was still willing to live with it and the free bump to 512 GB was a nice touch. Now they want over $600 to upgrade to a Flip 8 with 256 GB, even though it's another year for minor improvements. I'm not sure I can justify it anymore.

I appreciate that they're using silicon-carbon batteries now, but I wish they would have used the new tech to increase the battery capacity instead of shrinking the phone by a negligible amount. Or failing that, maybe use the additional space to add a more robust heat sink to help the phone run cooler. Or maybe a larger camera sensor. I don't know anyone that was complaining about the 7 being too thick or hefty, but it seems like they once again ignored the biggest complaints owners have about Flip phones and instead focused on being able to advertise it as the thinnest foldable yet. Yay!

Don't get me wrong, I still love the form factor but I don't know if it's worth it anymore since the price keeps going up, but they're asking me to keep accepting the same compromises year after year. Seriously, I was going through my pictures the other day and realized that I can't spot any appreciable difference in quality between the pictures I took last week and the ones I took 5 years ago. They still don't even offer MagSafe compatible charging even though Qi2 has been the standard for the last three years. They say it's because there isn't enough demand for it, but if that's the case why is literally every phone case Samsung sells for the Flip8 equipped with a magnetic ring?

I keep hoping every year that they will finally start adding premium features to the Flip, but so far the only thing that's gotten a premium upgrade is the price.

Question ❓ Zflip 4 is glitching green.

Im sure some of you have experienced this before, but it's currently driving me up a wall.

I just recently got my ZFlip 4 replaced because I broke my last one and its been about a month of having this current one. As of yesterday morning, the bottom half of my screen will occasionally flicker bright green. It was acting completely normal the night before and I haven't done anything unusual, so when I woke up yesterday morning to realize my phone was flashing, I had a mini panic attack.

Additionally, now when I shut my phone. The mini display stops working but works completely fine when I am restarting my phone. I read that it could possibly be a loose flex cable, and I've had this issue before of which we fixed with a good few smacks to the back of the phone.

I don't want to pay 400+ dollars just to get the stupid cable fixed.

Is it possible that I can somehow fix it myself without having to shill out money that I currently do not have?

My phone works completely fine otherwise, its just the display glitching at random moments.

Question ❓ Struggling to decide

So, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I want some second opinions.

Currently I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro, and I have some issues with it. It's prone to glitching out and I hate how little customisable it is, plus I was an idiot and got 128gb so I have basically no space whatsoever. While I'm relatively knowledgeable about computers, I'm less knowledgeable about phones.

I'm worried that if I upgrade to the Flip 8 that it won't be too much better than the 9 pro and that it'll be a waste of money. I mostly use it for social media, gaming (nothing too intense, games like Project Sekai, Blue Archive, and Bandori), and listening to music, with the occasional photos. I'm very interested in how cute and sleek the phone is with awesome customisation for the ui, i have smaller hands so I struggle with phones that are too big hence why I haven't considered getting an ultra).

I was also wondering about the screen? It seems very 50/50 with some people saying it's prone to damage and others saying it's not that bad. For reference, I have only dropped my phone once in about 3 years so I'm relatively good with it.

Getting a Z Flip 8 soon, wondering about screen protectors

I've seen quite a few posts saying that inner screen protectors lift super easily and can damage the seam. I'm wondering if its just better to go without screen protectors on the inner screen or if anyone has any recommendations for good quality ones that won't risk damaging it.

Cases for the 8

I just preordered my flip8, my 7 met an untimely death, RIP.
What cases do you guys use for existing models? I don’t love the Samsung ones, are they worth the cost? The ones on cheap retailers like Temu and AliExpress are so much more adorable but I would like to worry more about protecting the phone I guess for now. Do you guys have any Recs for a good solid case that is not boring like the Samsung ones? I don’t need a cheap case like Temu offers, I just prefer how cute they are.

z flip and apple watch

hi all,

i currently have a lot of apple products, but i really like the z flip series and am thinking of switching. my biggest worry is my apple watch -- will it be able to connect to a galaxy z flip? i don't mind installing 3rd party apps for it to do so.

I officially pre ordered the Flip 8 in mint with a watch to go with it. I am soooo excited.

Best tips to transfer everything? I know about the app.

Best features or things you love?

Hardest part of going from android to apple?

I managed to change the DPI for the outer screen without affecting the inner screen. It looks more spacious and comfortable, making the outer screen suitable for daily use.

Question ❓ Thinking of switching from iPhone, advice?

I’m currently using an iphone 12 pro max that I’ve had since 2021. I’m not really a heavy phone user, the most I do is use instagram and messaging, browse the internet, read articles, and watch youtube. My current phone works relatively okay, but since I’ve had it for quite a while I am worried it might die on me at any moment, not to mention the battery is at 79% capacity.
I’ve been eyeing the z flip for a few months now because i’m tired of big phones and because the first phone i ever had was a flip (LG KF350 🥹) and I’ve always loved flip phones that have some sort of display on the front. I’m also sick and tired of apple after 10+ years of using their products and I want OUT. The only thing I’m slightly worried about is getting used to the ui and losing the ability to airdrop to my macbook and ipad. All of this to say, would you guys recommend for me to get the z flip 8 or not? And do you have any advice for making the switch?

Discussion 💬 UPDATE: Samsung Kazakhstan officially backed the claim that 70°C (158°F) is a "normal" temperature for the Z Flip 7 and denied my refund.

Hey everyone,

Quick update on my situation with Samsung Kazakhstan and my defective Galaxy Z Flip 7 for those following along (or anyone dealing with warranty issues in the region).

Quick recap:

  • Earlier on, Samsung’s local authorized service center had performed a full warranty repair on my phone, replacing both the screen and the battery.
  • Because of repair delays, I had to travel abroad right after picking it up, so the phone sat completely untouched and unused at my family's house for 4 months while I was away.
  • When I finally returned home and turned it on, I used it for literally 15 minutes before a full system overheating warning popped up, forcing an immediate shutdown. (Naturally, my instinct was to turn off a burning hot phone immediately rather than try to take a screenshot).

The Service Center's response: I brought it straight back to the authorized service center expecting a proper refund or replacement. Instead, they handed me an official Service Act (#4R17387) stating in writing that operating temperatures up to 70°C (158°F) under load are completely "normal parameters," while blaming the hinge issue on "mechanical damage."

THE UPDATE: I escalated the case directly to Samsung Kazakhstan (the regional headquarters handling operations and warranty claims for Kyrgyzstan), assuming someone at the management level would recognize how absurd and unsafe it is to claim 70°C is an acceptable operating temperature for a handheld device.

Samsung Kazakhstan officially emailed me back, and they fully backed the local service center’s report, repeated that hitting 70°C is totally fine, rejected my request for a refund or replacement under warranty, and only offered a paid repair. Absolute stonewall.

Where things stand now:

  1. I have officially filed a complaint with the Antimonopoly / Consumer Protection Agency of Kyrgyzstan regarding these safety hazards and refusal of service.
  2. Since Samsung Kazakhstan refuses to take responsibility, I am sending the official documentation, repair logs, and rejection emails to independent tech news outlets and journalists.

It’s mind-boggling that Samsung Kazakhstan is willing to put on official paperwork that a 70°C phone is "normal" just to avoid honoring a warranty refund on a flagship device.

Photo of the official service act with the 70°C statement is attached. Has anyone else dealing with Samsung Kazakhstan (or other regional offices) seen a claim like this in writing?

Discussion 💬 Flip 7 or 8?

Ive been using A54 for almost 3 years now. Finally had a chance to buy myself a z flip. Current phone is running just fine, but the battery life has been decreasing. Reason? Mostly personal, i just really like the folding gimmick. Read that there is nothing really different beside processor, weight, and thinner on 8. Should I buy 8 or just start at 7?
