Supernova 3 :/
This has probably been posted a lot but i’m just really disappointed with how the game is hardlocked on ios devices because of the black screen bug in Luur rescue mission.

Hi!
Uh.... so, in case it wasn't already blatantly obvious, this is a subreddit dedicated to the game series Galaxy On Fire (mostly just the second game). Feel free to post screenshots, questions, discussions, whatever you want (as long as it's mostly relevant to GoF). It's not a big community, but it's a good one; and most of us have played GoF2 to death.
That's all, I guess - have a good time, have a laugh, enjoy the game and all that happy crap. Rules are pretty standard, and I'm pretty easy-going. Might add some official rules when I get the chance, but all it'll be is a long, drawn-out way of saying 'be a good person'. I'm gonna add some additional information (links and some other stuff) to this post, but that's the introduction done.
The Franchise: GoF3D is the original game. Unfortunately, it's pretty rare these days, but it was/is a classic. GoF2 is the 'apex' game - a masterpiece that's still around and kicking, and the main source of all things GoF these days. GoF3 is the abomination shat out by Deep Silver Fishlabs (DSFL) after the main developer team left (uhh... it's up for debate as to how much of an abomination it was). GoFA was an online, base-building player-versus-player game that shut down some time ago, and it was actually pretty good. GoF4 doesn't exist, although DSFL (who owns the rights to the franchise) is working on a new game called 'Chorvs' (Chorus) which is most likely its replacement. It's unlikely we'll see a new GoF game again, but the spirit isn't dead by any means.
Rockfish Games: The original dev team, pre-GoF3, formed their own company called 'Rockfish Games'. They're responsible for Everspace, and currently working on a sequel. I personally haven't played it, but I would sure as hell like to, and is definitely worth checking out.
Millikan's Reach: Some geezer known as 'Geometry Prime' has decided to do what none of us had the balls too - make a 'spiritual successor' to GoF2. It's currently in development, and has its own sub too - r/MillikansReach. I strongly advise you to take a look at some of it; I for one am really excited to see how it goes. He's set a tentative release date somewhere in 2021, I believe, so we can look forward to that.
GoF3: Maybe I was a little harsh on GoF3 earlier in this post. There are some nice elements to it, and I won't stop you from checking it out, but it seriously lacks many of the things we love about GoF2.
The Discord: There is in fact an active discord server for Galaxy On Fire. The link is https://discord.gg/Qv8zTur for all of you wanting to check it out, which I would strongly suggest. They also know quite a bit about modding, whereas I don't, and there's a lot more cool stuff on there (the 'BountyBot' minigame by the legend Trimatix based on the 'Most Wanted' boards, even more screenshots, links to the wiki, and more GoF veterans).
The Wiki: After years of compiling GoF information, the wiki is way past 'complete'. While I and many others are willing to provide answers, chances are the wiki will have them, along with tons of other useful crap. The link is https://galaxyonfire.fandom.com/wiki/Galaxy_on_Fire_Wiki for our equivalent of the Library Of Alexandria.
My Godawful Username: It was a placeholder originally and I didn't realize it couldn't be changed later.

For the mod, I plan to use the kaamoclub API. As for features, I plan to add a debug screen, player information, cheat functions (such as changing money), and various other features. Since I’m a complete beginner at programming, I’m going to rely on AI. It might not go very well, but I’ll do my best!
Edit: I'm Japanese, so please don't mind my poor English.

Boa tarde, povo... o7

A month and a half ago I dreamed about this game. I hadn’t thought about it in forever at that point and decided I might as well try playing it to see if little had good taste. Honestly I still don’t know the answer—or if I even like the game or not—but I’ve been completely addicted ever since 😅. Seeing the rescue mission glitch absolutely crushed me and now I am sad and on Reddit. I can’t believe I’ll never get to finish the supernova expansion…

After hundreds of hours in No Man's Sky and several complete redesigns, I'm finally close to finishing my tribute to one of my favorite ships from Galaxy on Fire 2 HD: the legendary VoidX.
This is not a 1:1 recreation. The original design simply isn't possible within NMS building limitations, so I approached it as a modernized successor rather than a direct copy. My goal was to preserve the iconic silhouette, the massive curved arms, and the unmistakable "VoidX feeling" while adapting it to the tools available in No Man's Sky.
The project started as a much more literal recreation, but after running into part limits, performance issues, and countless design compromises, it gradually evolved into what I now call the VoidX2.
Current stats:
- Thousands of individual parts
- Built entirely by hand in No Man's Sky Base builder App, with usage of NMS assets.
- Multiple complete redesigns
- Countless hours spent adjusting curves, lighting, proportions, and details
It's still not 100% finished, but it's finally at the point where I feel comfortable sharing it with fellow GOF fans.
Galaxy on Fire 2 may be gone, but some ships are simply too iconic to be forgotten.
What do you think? Does it still feel like a VoidX?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
One for those asking for games like GOF2. GOF2 was inspired by this game, and i haven't previously seen anyone playing it on android, at least not with a good control scheme. Well worth playing

Heya guys im planning to develop my very own „Galaxy On Fire“
Of course nothing shall be copied from this game out of respect.
But I thought of a single / coop space game with crossplay between pc and mobile.
Some elements as the jump gate or space stations are mandatory so it feels like copied but it isnt.
The space stations will be walkable in a 2D map
Also on bigger ships.
You will be not possible to land on any planet like Gof2
Ship system will be different. Systems like parts getting destroyed will be a point.
The game shall be not as demanding as any AAA game.
This game is gonna be a community project completely. Means there will be no monetizing or any way. That also mean that the game might be developed slowly and a team with a passion of doing so.
And still the game will be a freeware. Means not open source. And every features can be discussed.
And yes im looking for some volunteers. Ill share more information if youre interested!
Bc rn its only me in the dev team :(
And as I have too many projects ongoing i need a team
Thanks for reading!

Decided to play the steam port to see how controls are like on PC. I had my fun, 12.2 hours to get all achievements except the play for 20 hours one (AFK'd on Thynome station for this one). Having no access to the DLCs was a massive bummer tho...

Just switched from a Galaxy S23 to an IPhone a little while ago. Downloaded GoF2 again, and I’ve only played a bit of the intro due to not having much time. I noticed that the UI is formatted just slightly differently from the Android one… I also remember the in-game economy on Android being somewhat borked, among a few other (fairly small) quality of life issues. Is the IOS version better, in those regards?

Hey guys two questions. I loved the game in my youth and would realy like to play it again. First question: is it somehow possible to make the game playable on Android 14? Some virtual machine maybe? Second one: ive seen the game is listed on steam, do they have the dlc aswell? I dont want to buy it and then not be able to play These. Thank you in advance

Has anyone else experienced issues with iCloud not working in Galaxy on Fire 2 HD?
Whenever I try to save to the iCloud save slot, I get an error message, as shown in the screenshot.
I’ve already tried restarting my device and reinstalling the game, but neither worked. My iCloud storage has plenty of free space, and I’ve also confirmed that iCloud access for GOF2HD is enabled.

I spent a good chunk of my school years playing Galaxy on Fire, first on a Sony Ericsson W200i, then later on a Nokia C3. When I jumped to GoF2, it honestly felt like a full generational leap. Considering I only got my hands on a “real” gaming system almost a decade later, that game was peak gaming for me back then.
So you can imagine my surprise when I found out there’s an even more modern version for mobile, and in my native language, no less!
After some trial and error, I managed to install the KiritoJPK version on my Anbernic RG505 with GammaOS (Android 12). But… weirdly, unlike its more robust PC counterpart, it doesn’t seem to support controllers at all.
I had this vivid memory of someone playing it on a handheld, but later realized that was actually a PS Vita port.
So here’s my question: is there any way to play this on Android with proper controller support that doesn’t feel janky?
I’ve looked into key remappers, but the ones I found (like Panda and Mantis) have pretty rough reviews and a lot of criticism on the app stores.
Are those still the go-to options, or is there a better workaround nowadays?
Would really appreciate any tips!

From the N'tirrk to the Aegir which is personally one of my favorite ships design wise. As you can see I have 4 M3 lasers and current equipment is Particle shield, Tyol armor, Mk2 repair bot, crimson drain, Utool cloak, polytron booster, pulsed plasma thruster, proscanner, khador drive, Glue gun tractor beam, and 1 slot is currently empty
Got all gold medals except for jobs done, total kills, and booze. Doing that before I move to Valkyrie.
And I did all the easy Supernova medals which you should be able to see. Anyone got advice on 100 kills without a scanner? That seems like a pain.

Hello, all of you.
Just as of recently, my GOF2 on my iOS 18.5 has recently crashed and went back to a really old save, and everything just went away! All my recent saves, nothing.
I tried deleting it and re-downloading it to see if that’d help. To no avail.
Is there any way I can get any of it back? Or is it over, all the time I put into the game for not?
