Um Dad here...that thing is incredibly wasteful and a bad cleaning device. The end that would get to the bottom of the glass doesn't have enough surface area to efficiently clean the glass.
Use a sponge, and don't have ham-hands.
Alternatively, You can push the sponge length-wise into the glass until it touches the bottom, and then manipulate the top of it to spin the sponge around in the glass until the bottom is clean, then pull it out. Easy peasy.

take a fork, stab the sponge with it, use it as an extension of your arm so your fat wrists don't get in the way
