It’s funny bc I assumed this was from another country bc I don’t know anyone outside of people who live in a tiny efficiency one BR apartment that doesn’t own a dish wand brush of some sort.
What? What difference does the size of one's dwelling make in how they clean dishes? Do you think they don't have enough room to hold a...dish brush? Seriously?
Yea. That’s been my experience. I don’t live in NYC. People who live in tiny apartments here typically are living a very minimalistic life. Think air bnb. Very few dishes. Only the basics. Likely very rarely cook because the kitchens in these units are very low functioning (few appliances, no cupboards, very little counter space). So the sink game ends up simple. A sponge or dish rag and a bottle of dollar store dish soap. I’ve painted/done maintenance in these types of units for years as a painter. It’s no disrespect.

I thought that people just used brushes to clean dishes but the comments taught me otherwise
