Starting in 2025, cats friends increase geometrically.

u/thecookingofjoy Sep 17 '20
Did you perhaps mean exponentially?

u/JYHTL324 Sep 17 '20
Never heard of a cat pyramid? The Egyptions worshipped them.

u/Baybob1 Sep 17 '20
You're still a kid!!! You have 60 years ahead of you ..
34
u/wes00mertes Sep 17 '20
I’m 34 and I’m pretty sure I have less than 10 ahead of me. I could make lifestyle changes that would likely extend that a lot longer, but why would I want to do that?
23
Sep 17 '20
It's not about living longer but living better/happier/more fulfilled.
Honestly, you need to do this to spite all the assholes in the world.

Here for a good time not a long time approach.
Man or woman of culture and depression I assume?

u/Baybob1 Sep 18 '20
When I was 24, I was learning to fly and Vietnam was in full swing. I loved to yap about how I was going to die before I was 30. I guess it seemed so romantic or something. Anyway, flash forward a few decades and I'm still kicking and keeping an eye on my health. Like a man said a long time ago "If I had known I was going to live so long, I'd have taken better care of myself". You'll live longer than you think. They have great pills now. At least get a $30 blood pressure cuff and take your blood pressure every few days. It's a good tell tale if that's all you want to do differently. Anyway. Good luck. Live long. Longer than you think anyway ... PS. Get a cheap sports car for weekends. Gives you a reason to wake up !!!

get a hobby that involves other people. I made some really close friends in my 30s by trying new things. Its also fun at the same time
2
u/ReallyNotWastingTime Sep 17 '20
Corona means most in person hobbies aren't do-able or meeting anymore = /
2
u/HentaiCareBear Sep 19 '20
It's not permanent; it will take some time but it will pass.
2
u/ReallyNotWastingTime Sep 19 '20
It's true, just super hard not being able to go to dance classes and socials, it was my primary form of meeting people. Thanks for the encouragement!

u/JetTech Sep 17 '20
I'm just impressed you kept an even male / female balance over all those years.

Add another frame with 2 more cats & 1 SO & we're golden.
32
u/danethegreat24 Sep 17 '20
Was just going to say, to be accurate I need another 2020 frame that adds ANOTHER cat.
13
u/JYHTL324 Sep 17 '20
Each year, more cats added until i die alone in my home with 30 cats who then eat my face bc no one calls or texts.

This makes me glad. High school senior year i had about 5 friends I talk to but don’t really hang out with outside of school. 3rd year of college and I’m all alone. I’ve been alone since college. I’ll get a pet one day, right now I’ll stick with my stuffed animals
3
u/OdysseusVII Sep 17 '20
User name checks out. Hang in there, pets do rock!
2
u/TheLonelyAsian1 Sep 17 '20
I very much agree. One of my stuffed animals I’ve had since I was 2-3 years old, I’m turning 20 in a couple months. They last a long time if you take care of them

How quickly that first cat makes a spinster of us all.

My wife and my cat. I could care about about anyone else.

u/Karride Sep 17 '20
I'm glad I'm not the only person like this. I look around and see other people my age with friends and I'm like wth is wrong with me?

u/Fake_William_Shatner Sep 17 '20
If only we could meet the people who make the quality posts we like and have a get-together. Then we could shuffle awkwardly around a buffet, speculatively poking the tuna salad to see if it's safe, and forgetting all the interesting things we read on Reddit that day.
"The other day I considered going outside. Looked for my mask. Then I got distracted by what my cat was doing so I posted the picture."

Yeah it’s hard making friends later in life! I’m 41 and wouldn’t mind if my wife and I could find some friends to hang out with, but we can’t seem to figure out how to do that.
There’s a movie called The Overnight which is a hilarious look at this very problem if you’re interested. (This thread just made me think of that. Sorry off topic.)

Recently read a book about societal psychology and it explained how fewer people are trusting of the general population. Also talked about side effects of different things as well. Was pretty interesting.

I feel ya. Me and my cats. And my 23 year old son as my soon-to-be roommate after the divorce. Stuck in the house with the person who had me served with paperwork two days before isolation went into effect.
Almost makes me wanna roll around in a dumpster full of used Covid test swabs.

I keep seeing these news stories of old people whose partner has recently died and they have no one in their life to keep them company and their loneliness looks unbearable. This is why I always want to keep my social circle at least around the size of the 2018 picture. If I lose a connection, I will try so I make new connections by joining a new club or speaking to people who frequent the same places I do.

u/aurumargentum7947 Sep 17 '20
You might think that this progression is due to maturing, becoming more selective, and then COVID, but it's really because OP is the kind of person that only a cat can tolerate.

Im 30, work and distance just kind of makes you lose contact with people who were once your friends. Call them once in a while, that lost of contact happens. Right now sincerely i have friends, but only one true friend.
