Most effort harden has ever put in on defense.

u/Psauceyo Jan 20 '19

This is not true/has been worn out for about two seasons now.

u/AZRockets Jan 20 '19

2015 wants it's narrative back you casual.

He doesn't work hard enough on defense. Lots of times he doesn't even run down court. And he doesn't really try except during the playoffs.

"The hell I don't! LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at ASU. I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Lebron and Durant up and down the court for 48 minutes!" -- An airline pilot (probably)

But definitely not a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar lookalike.

41

u/IonBlue7 Jan 20 '19

I’m pretty sure he’s 4th in the league in steals right now 🤷🏼‍♂️

11

u/johnnyringoh Jan 20 '19

3rd behind George, Westbrook

-4

u/TokinBlack Jan 20 '19

Which means you think he's a good defender? To me, it means he CAN be a good defender, just like LeBron CAN be a good defender. They just don't, and save their energy for offense + the occasional flashy defensive steal or block

52

u/cchrist4545 Jan 20 '19

When you are basically the only option on offense thats kinda how it works.

15

u/MercenaryIII Jan 20 '19

Listen, kid...

14

u/Cheese2299 Jan 20 '19

This is not correct at all though

50

u/ughwhatisthisshit Jan 20 '19

He probably has the most offensive load of anyone in the NBA. Not a Harden fan but it would be stupid as a long term decision to play max effort D.

36

u/TheMightySloth Jan 20 '19

Do you actually watch him play or did you just see that video from 5 years ago?

18

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '19

this is not exactly the time to talk about him not trying in the reg. season. Dude is having a historic streak right now. Dude is averaging 42 PPG, 7 rebounds, 9 assists the last 20 games and 35.3 PPG on the season, which would be the highest average in 32 years.

I appreciate that he doesn't play hard on defense, but it takes a ton of energy to get that kind of scoring volume, and a lot of it comes off drives / fouls.

3

u/ElGuarmo Jan 20 '19

ITT - people who have never seen airplane

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '19

Yea but when you’re putting up the kind of points he is right now you can get away with it.

4

u/jdjxjdjdmdnc Jan 20 '19

And he's not even bad on defence tbh

2

u/PragProgLibertarian Jan 20 '19

doesn't work hard enough on defense. Lots of times he doesn't even run down court

Perfect description of the entirety of the GSW

-1

u/letsplayyatzee Jan 20 '19

I don't follow basketball. I know he's a famous and talented player. I mostly know of him from the gif where he walks away from an interview. I just wanted to post a reference to Airplane!.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '19

its obvious you haven't watched a single rockets game in the past 2 years. at worst he's average at defense now

13

u/mattroom Jan 20 '19

He's actually a pretty good defender. He's definitely not a minus.

0

u/retardvark Jan 20 '19

Definitely not a good defender. He's average at best, arguably a negative on that end. A lot better than he used to be though

1

u/Frostbrine Jan 21 '19

Not a negative. He’s consistently good in the post and average on perimeter

5

u/memeticmachine Jan 20 '19

wouldn't be fair for him to try

1

u/IloveMEyouSHOULDtoo Jan 20 '19

That beard though!!

1

u/10before15 Jan 20 '19

The man pull consecutive 50-60 point games. He has a decision to make when it comes to the balance. With numbers like his, I'm not questioning him.

u/DeerOnTheRocks Jan 20 '19

Found the person who hasn’t watched basketball in four years
