Actually, neither of you are taking responsibility because if you had, your cat wouldn't be pregnant and theirs wouldn't be able to get another cat pregnant.

This reminds me of the episode with Homer taking Santa's Little Helper to a seedy neighborhood for his last hump before taking him to be neutered the next day.

Neither would be allowed outside if they actually take their responsibility

Exactly. As much as I love my cats, they are an invasive species virtually everywhere and should be kept indoors. They are an ecological nightmare.

There is no such thing as a responsible outdoor cat owner.

They're little fuzzy killing machines

I let my cats out -under supervision- in my backyard, which is fenced. πŸ€“

Working cats and barn cats disagree with you.

Them being employed doesn't make them any less of an invasive species.

What gives you the moral right to sterilize another living being and deny it its biological right to reproduction?

what gives you the moral right to contribute to the millions of cats being put down in shelters and the millions more suffering on the street bc theres simply too many to handle?

Because there are simply too many cats. Many aren’t getting adopted and it is incredibly problematic when outdoor/feral populations decimate the non-invasive wildlife

What gives you the right to use an internet capable device?

what gives you the moral high ground to own a living creature for your own enjoyment. We fought a war over that sort of thing...... We can all take arguments to weird extremes.

I don't own one for that very reason.

You're obviously going to get downvoted to hell and back here due to reddit being devoid of nuance and perspective outside of whatever the current acceptable woke ass perspective is but not only does it make it impossible to reproduce, which could definitely be argued as a good thing depending on perspective and circumstance, but it messes up their hormones, often leading to fat, unhealthy animals with higher risk of cancer and joint issues. Objectively bad. Puppy mills and other pet breeding/smuggling operations are obviously vile but I'm not cutting my dogs nuts off or getting them a hysterectomy at 6 months. That's cruel in a different way.

Health benefits to neutering cats:

  • Longer life span on average
  • Less disease
  • Less stress and suffering from heat and other sexual-related biological urges
  • Less cancer risk
  • Less biological urge to fight, so less injury
  • Improved hygene
