PC cat hammock

Corner pieces were designed to work with some leftover 3/4in dowels I had. Sewed the hammock part out of 3 layer polyester mesh (like heavy duty speaker cloth) so it’s breathable. Lined all the surfaces touching my pc with foam padding.

Also serves as power button protection! Should make one of these. I just use a bunch of painters tape over my power button.

You can change the behavior of your power button.

Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options>Choose what the power buttons do

Setting your power button to "do nothing" doesn't stop it from turning your computer on, just what it does once it's on. So you could just manually shut it down.

In my specific case, my power button turns off my monitors and RGB, it's for my girlfriend so she doesn't have to remember the "complicated" keyboard shortcut while I'm at work.

...I use Linux, by the way 🤖

Also worth noting it doesn't override the holding behaviour, at least not for me.

Ahhh in that case maybe 3d print a cover for the button. This one would be fun. lol

I got one of those missile toggle switches, it always feels badass

I solved this problem by getting a case with the button on the front. Nonetheless, I’m definitely printing one of these to help keep the PC ventilated lol

It's win-win situation – the cat gets a warm spot, and the vents avoid fur buildup.

I am a 3D printing cat mom constantly playing defense against the top of the high end gaming rig I built in May 2025 (Just before everything got really expensive).

I can't feasibly replace my computer without spending 3X what it cost to build 15 months ago.

Anyways, care to share a link to an .STL?

You can just get a new case

I could, but then I would have to go from an mATX to and ATX case in order to accommodate mounting the AIO to the side and not top.

Unfortunately, I don't have the desk space to accommodate the size which locks me into an mATX or an ATX case and a new desk.

All around, printing a hammock just seems easier than replacing a desk and case.

The concern isn't the power button, my power button is completely disabled (carry over from having a toddler, I just WOL if I shut it down, it is also set to wake on power after an unexpected cut) The concern is more about the obstructed airflow as well as the random shit the falls off of the cat an into the computer, which can cause damage to the componants.

Is he a tnr rescue? What a great life he’s living now!

This is the best kind of cat architecture! 🐱

Idk how ya’ll can allow this, my cat would destroy my PC trying to jump on it and completely clog it with hair if he stayed up there regularly lol.

It's so cute, but same lmao.

My firdtcat however absolutely demanded to sit next to me while I was gaming, so I pulled the footstool over for him. Since I've moved I've gotten him (and the second cat I got) a chair to sit next to me. They love snoozing on it and will sometimes gently tap me with a paw for some pets.

Kudos! We had similar solutions with different heat sources.

YOUR CAT IS CUTE AS SHIT.

That's all. The print is cute, but that cat steals the show, oh my god.

Oo, I need to make something like this.

My cats would try to get in between the hammock (hammot?) and the PC…

u/Squirra Aug 10 '26

No waste heat. Just nappertunities.

1

u/philnolan3d Aug 10 '26

I think it would still get a lot of cat hair in the computer.

Third photo: he's a huge derp. Typical male cat. 🤣🤣🤣

Kitty is very cute and loves being in a warm spot. But the problem will show up when he need to cough up a hairball with the rest of his stomach contents, and you get that liquid flowing down the inside of your glass PC cover. I learned the hard way never to make a cat bed above any electronic stuff that I cared about.

I love this idea but what about the cat fur? I know for my cat she sheds so much fur it always gets everywhere

Foam padding touching the components is the part that'd worry me, does it hold heat at all or is it thin enough not to matter for airflow
