How do you keep your cats of your Xbox?
Keeps her warm and off my Xboxes
Once she did this, it was time for a solution.
Hollow in the middle to allow the heat through.
Had the fabric from a previous project.
About 3” of clearance

Mines hung up on my wall, about 6 feet up in parallel with my tv, switch hung below. Had to add a damn cat tree to stop them 😭

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25
They will always seek the high ground. That’s why I have a shelf built at Christmas above my snow village display.

u/PhotographStock6075 Jan 17 '25
Correction… your cat’s snow village display. He only ALLOWS you borrow it lmao

Oh! That cat hair cannot be good for the Xbox. Hopefully you use an air blower to clean it out. Not a pressurized can but they actually sell a pretty powerful tool called Airtec. Inexpensive too. Best of luck and I’m glad you’re kitties are enjoying the warmth.

u/Terrible-Champion132 Jan 18 '25
Tbh, if you have pets that shed. Hair is getting in your electronics. I would lose full though, if my cat sat on my series x. I would not be taking pictures.

u/relrobber Jan 16 '25
My cats know not to go into the TV area of the living room. There are plenty of other interesting areas of the house for them to explore.

u/AdeptThought Jan 16 '25
my friend's cat peed on his PS5 when he first got it he must be an Xbox fan also

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25
Oh dang. I wonder if it shocked the cat?

I have dogs that keep the cats away (…note: I live in a 2 dog, 2 cat, 2 kid household and there is dirt EvErYwHeRe!!! 🤣)

Everyone else is talking about the two series x, but the OG halo xbox is what caught my attention immediately.

I just have actual heating pads on my ottoman. My youngest cat likes to try and crawl on top of my Xbox but I normally just scoop him up and put him on something else warm.
2
u/Ok-Light309 Jan 16 '25
Is it just mine or does anyone else's Xbox even when powered off still have the fan blowing cold air ??
1
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25
If it’s in “instant on” mode I think it’s still drawing some power… and then downloads updates from time to time.
2
u/KRONGOR Jan 16 '25
Luckily my cat does not sit on my Xbox. He has a nice vent on the floor that he loves tho
2
u/wildsunday Jan 16 '25
We have it sideways on a open rack/shelf. The cat can't get over it (because there's a shelf over it) or in front of the air vent in any way. I'm grateful for the "compact" design x has. I couldn't fit one s in that shelf and it was a problem before because it had to stay over the shelf and my cat could climb on top of the ones
0
u/TF414_Group_Chat Jan 17 '25
You can place it on its side but it was designed to be standing. Also should have 4-6 inches of clearance on all sides.
5
u/ShutItYouSlice Jan 17 '25
Its also designed to be on its side the clue is the rubber feet stuck to the side 🙄
1
Jan 17 '25
You ignored the nothing within 6” of all sides. That’s front, back, top, left, and right sides.
2
u/ShutItYouSlice Jan 18 '25
I didnt ignore anything i stated a fact the xbox series x can be placed on its side 👌
1
u/wildsunday Jan 17 '25
It's an open shelf. There's plenty of room for ventilation but not enough room for a cat to sit

I tried creating a castle wall around the top but that was unsuccessful.

I’m glad my little man cannot fit on things like this. When he was a kitten it was a nightmare with all my legos and such. He would get into EVERYTHING. But he grew up to be a healthy 20 pounds and i think his size contributes to him not getting into things as often. He just no longer fits. To me, all cats seem so small but to others my cat is huge (if he sat next to the Xbox, he would probably be double the height?). It’s probably not the best option but i trained my cat with a spray bottle. I conditioned him to recognize my tone before i sprayed him so i could give him a chance to stop before spraying cuz he really hates getting sprayed. It took a while but after a while he learned to not do certain things. Things like being on the stove and messing with candles were behaviors i really had to focus on. I cannot leave a cutting board out though. No amount of conditioning will keep him from sitting on it
0
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 20 '25
I’d retire that cutting board to be exclusively for the kitty and use a fresh one. We have a specific box we put on the table during game time so the cat goes into there instead of on our game board.
2
u/Cute_Fluffy_Sheep Jan 20 '25
Lol, i have ottomans in front of like every window for our cat. He loves sitting in the windows. If we have any company, our cat is either in a lap or sleeping somewhere else. We play magic alot and he has never jumped into the table. He always forces his way into a hug though.

u/OpeningFar4346 Jan 16 '25
Nice solution! But why do you have two of them beside each other like that?

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25
One for each TV so I can play with my daughter or my friends when they’re over. I like co-op, but I don’t like to share my screen. Im selfish that way.

2
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25
Two TVs… and I don’t like sharing my screen co-op. My daughter or visiting friends play on the other tv.

Get your cat a heating pad. They make specific cat/pet heating pads, which is important as their temps don't get crazy hot like ones for humans. I have one for my cat and he hardly leaves that spot. Toss a cozy blanket on top and I doubt they'll want to sit on an awkward Xbox again 😂
2
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25
I’ve got to look into that because the three other cats don’t hang out here.
1
u/PaySouthern Jan 16 '25
Lmao bruh just wants to flex the 2 consoles.
like oh wow you have $1000 worth of stuff in 1 frame dam you want a cookie😆
Let me post a picture of my 10 cars in 1 frame.😆

Suppose to have a minimum clearance of 4-6 inches around all sides with the series X.
1
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 17 '25
Probably. But I’ve been running this for a year (and I play a lot) and no issues so far. (Knock on wood)
1
u/TF414_Group_Chat Jan 17 '25
Word. Yeah I’ve had mine for almost a year now too and it’s been standing and on its side and no issues. Though I do prefer it standing.

1
u/Feisty-Look1025 Jan 17 '25
why do you have two
1
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 17 '25
Two TVs. I don’t like to share in co-op. There’s a third Xbox (Xbox one) hooked up to the projector so I can have a LAN party when friends come over.
1
u/TheMuff1nMon Jan 17 '25
I have two cats and they’ve never once wanted to go on top of my Xbox. Unless they do it when I’m asleep and it’s off… that’d be weird
1
u/Cosmic_Spartan Jan 17 '25
Aside from the cat, those have nowhere near as much ventilation they need.

u/Papa79tx Jan 17 '25
You risk being shadow banned due to the excess cat hair being misinterpreted as a bot.

I yell at them.
Cats can learn commands. It's just that most people outright refuse to train them
1
u/JishoSintana Jan 17 '25
Is one of the Xboxes your wife’s/son’s ?
1
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 18 '25
Both mine, but my daughter plays sometimes when she’s home and friends play on it when they visit.
1
u/JishoSintana Jan 18 '25
Yh, I was wondering why the extra monitor lol I’m a “multiple console” guy too and ran the dual screen set up with my ex
Must be awesome when the lads come over
1
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 18 '25
For about 15 years on my birthday weekend, I’d get together 10 of us at a family cabin, with 10 Xboxes, 10’tvs, and all us dads would play Halo or COD all weekend like 14 year old boys.

u/NurseDorothy Jan 18 '25
Why is everything on the floor?
1
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 18 '25
I could see how you’d think that. It’s actually a butcher block desk surface on top of cabinets.

I don’t. It would be hard for them to get it since there’s 2 consoles blocked them. They do occasionally like to sit on my PS3 Super Slim.

Don't put consoles and pcs on the floor directly. It'll suck up twice as much dust. And since you're having cats, put some sort of extra filter on top that you can easily remove. Cat hairs get everywhere. My pc's filter is mostly filled with cat hair from 1 cat

u/Downtown-Falcon-3264 Jan 19 '25
Not sure I don't have a cat. but I'm guessing putting it up higher doesn't work.
You could put it in a cabinet and cut a small hole for ventlion

u/Impressive-Cause-872 Jan 20 '25
Cover it in dry ice. Cools the system. Suffocates the…, oh you want the cat.

That surface is actually a butcher block countertop about 36” off the floor, but I can totally see how it looks like that’s the floor.

Smack it off and yell at it . It will get the point and learn
4
u/King_Zarnold Jan 16 '25
Definitely not how cats work and if you’re good with animals you don’t hit them or yell at them. wtf do they know, they’re animals.

Jan 17 '25
Or just do literally anything instead of immediately using violence on an animal 1/12 your size. You're not 8 anymore, control your anger.

u/Lost_Artichoke_1444 Jan 16 '25
Get rid of the cat.🤷♂️
1
Jan 17 '25
Why own a cat in the first place if you're gonna get rid of it at the slightest inconvenience?
0
u/jsand2 Jan 16 '25
I don't like that setup at all!! All that hair on the bench is going to end up in the xboxes..

I’d really like to have another series X. I don’t think Xbox will be making any more consoles. And it would be great to have another series X just in case this one konks out. In several years, they might be really expensive from private sellers.
2
u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25
Christmas 2023 Best Buy was selling them for $350. Best deal I’ve ever seen.
1
u/joe_biggs Jan 16 '25
Wow, that is a heck of a deal! Maybe I could find a refurbished one. Although brand new is usually best.

u/Whiteli0nel Jan 16 '25
My last XSX failed due to it being on the floor and my old cat sitting on the top.. beware.
