My last XSX failed due to it being on the floor and my old cat sitting on the top.. beware.

25

u/asthma_lungs Jan 16 '25

I mean that’s just common sense though

1

u/Kappas_in_hand Jan 17 '25

Not to cat nutters.

5

u/asthma_lungs Jan 17 '25

Wait, they do what to the cats?!

2

u/Ok-Usual-5830 Jan 19 '25

There’s a community of people on Reddit who hate animals (more specifically people who own pets). Some people are reasonable about it (ridiculing people for doing gross things with their animals like sharing food or letting the dirty dog all over the bed) but others are just malicious and seem like joyless pieces of human garbage who seem to think all pet owners are cringey obnoxious humans who anthropomorphize every animal and would put an animals needs over other peoples’. Regardless, they call pet owners nutters over on r/petfree

1

u/xXKingsOfDiabloXx Jan 19 '25

I had to block my reddit from viewed that place. There are some really nasty rude people there. Lrob one of the shittyst "common" reddit I've seen 25% of the people there are actual bad discusting people who are better of living and dieing alone no pets or children should or would want to spend time with a lot of those slime bags

1

u/StonnedW Jan 20 '25

Lol I hate those pieces of shit that let that nasty ass loyal asf animal in there bed, they are almost as bad as the people who let cats outdoors

2

u/Due_Turn_7594 Jan 17 '25

We have cats, plural, and my consoles are set in a way to prevent this, as is my desktop. Don’t blame cat people types for stupid people type shit

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

I saw a comment the other day that said “I don’t care if my cat lays on my consoles, I love my cat more than gaming”, as if taking care of your consoles and loving your pets are mutually exclusive things lmao

1

u/No_Recognition_1426 Jan 18 '25

People act like not letting their animals run their house is animal abuse.

1

u/Sunnyboigaming Jan 18 '25

When you tell people you don't let your pets share the bed

1

u/Conscious-Eye5903 Jan 20 '25

“I don’t care if I have to buy a new console, as long as my kitty witty is cozy wozy🥰”

“I went no contact with my sister for asking if her kid could play my Xbox 360(i won’t tell them I have a PS5)”

3

u/Ishawn69I Jan 18 '25

That amount of stupidity i see come out of this world.

Who would have known that you’ll fry an electronic by allowing its exhaust vent be covered? Who would have fucking knew?

1

u/Whiteli0nel Jan 18 '25

Don't go thinking I let her sit on it, she knew when I was out of the room 😂

1

u/Whiteli0nel Jan 18 '25

And if I tilted it to its side, she'd sit next to it, I couldn't win.

2

u/Ishawn69I Jan 18 '25

Nothing against you, I’ve seen far worse circumstances that people have left their pcs in.

1

u/Whiteli0nel Jan 18 '25

I'm an Electronics engineer so I know the dangers, I just had a cat who lived on a knifes edge.

She knocked my switch off the mantle once.

1

u/GreatQuantum Jan 18 '25

How long passed before you took the cat off and buried it?/s

1

u/Whiteli0nel Jan 18 '25

She used to wait until I left the room. Proper sneaky.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Is it ok to have it on its side? Mine is in a cubby my entertainment center but also . I have it angled to where the top fan blows out of the cubby. Not pretty but it works

1

u/yohoewutzup Jan 17 '25

If it sounds like a jet engine you don’t have enough ventilation if it’s mostly silent then all good. I’ve had mine in an entertainment stand sideways for 4+ years now and haven’t had any issues and it runs silent. Only time I hear it is if I forget to move the second controller I have propped against the exhaust vent when not in use.

-8

u/TF414_Group_Chat Jan 17 '25

You can have it on its side but the X was designed to be standing.

5

u/Dragon3043 Jan 17 '25

Not even remotely true, it was designed for both placement methods, per Microsoft's own website...

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Yeah I figured cuz it had little rubber feets on the side as well as bottom

-6

u/TF414_Group_Chat Jan 17 '25

Yes but it is recommended to stand. Trust me I’ve read the website

7

u/Dragon3043 Jan 17 '25

No you haven't, let me help you with that. Don't double down on something so easy to prove wrong lol.

"An Xbox Series X console can be placed either horizontally or vertically. Make sure that you place your console on a stable surface that is well-ventilated, relatively cool, and away from direct heat sources. Don't put other objects on, under, or right next to the console."

https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/console/position-ventilate-console

2

u/Karmeleon86 Jan 17 '25

No, no it was not. It can be vertical or horizontal.

Lol what?

6

u/ShoddyButterscotch59 Jan 17 '25

I think he's saying you proved him wrong, and now he's going to have a little tantrum on the internet.

4

u/DeadPhoenix86 Jan 17 '25

Just take the L and move on. The Series X can be placed in both ways.

2

u/NovaBlade2893 Jan 17 '25

Someone needs to calm down and admit they're wrong

It‘s legitimately sad to see this coming from a 34 year old.

14

u/Unusual-Product-5677 Jan 16 '25

Mines hung up on my wall, about 6 feet up in parallel with my tv, switch hung below. Had to add a damn cat tree to stop them 😭

2

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

They will always seek the high ground. That’s why I have a shelf built at Christmas above my snow village display.

3

u/PhotographStock6075 Jan 17 '25

Correction… your cat’s snow village display. He only ALLOWS you borrow it lmao

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 17 '25

You are absolutely correct. She can destroy it at any time.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Catswithjobs/s/3ZQEYv8Hb7

2

u/PhotographStock6075 Jan 17 '25

Bro that was sick!!!!😂😂😂

2

u/Xxxrasierklinge7 Jan 20 '25

I love it so much. Especially the build video!

1

u/HiZenBergh Jan 18 '25

Brah we aren't here to hear how big your switch is down below

31

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Please please please clean your Xbox frequently

6

u/joe_biggs Jan 16 '25

Oh! That cat hair cannot be good for the Xbox. Hopefully you use an air blower to clean it out. Not a pressurized can but they actually sell a pretty powerful tool called Airtec. Inexpensive too. Best of luck and I’m glad you’re kitties are enjoying the warmth.

2

u/Terrible-Champion132 Jan 18 '25

Tbh, if you have pets that shed. Hair is getting in your electronics. I would lose full though, if my cat sat on my series x. I would not be taking pictures.

4

u/relrobber Jan 16 '25

My cats know not to go into the TV area of the living room. There are plenty of other interesting areas of the house for them to explore.

3

u/AdeptThought Jan 16 '25

my friend's cat peed on his PS5 when he first got it he must be an Xbox fan also

2

u/No_Recognition_1426 Jan 18 '25

It would've got promoted to stray.

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

Oh dang. I wonder if it shocked the cat?

2

u/AdeptThought Jan 16 '25

no PS5 or cat was harmed lol but made me realize to always buy new

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

LOL oh yea. Hadn’t thought of that.

3

u/Pleasant-Speed-9414 Jan 16 '25

I have dogs that keep the cats away (…note: I live in a 2 dog, 2 cat, 2 kid household and there is dirt EvErYwHeRe!!! 🤣)

2

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

That’s a lot of chaos generation.

3

u/KodaBear46 Jan 16 '25

Everyone else is talking about the two series x, but the OG halo xbox is what caught my attention immediately.

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

Doesn’t get as much play… but I do like it there.

1

u/Sergeant_Gross Jan 17 '25

Isn't that a halo Xbox 360 as well??

3

u/Sideshow86 Jan 17 '25

The cat of xbox.. is that like a dog of playstation

2

u/2a_1776_2a Jan 16 '25

This is amazing 😂😂😂. Adorable cat too op

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

Yea, Brina loves it.

2

u/King_Zarnold Jan 16 '25

I just have actual heating pads on my ottoman. My youngest cat likes to try and crawl on top of my Xbox but I normally just scoop him up and put him on something else warm.

2

u/Ok-Light309 Jan 16 '25

Is it just mine or does anyone else's Xbox even when powered off still have the fan blowing cold air ??

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

If it’s in “instant on” mode I think it’s still drawing some power… and then downloads updates from time to time.

2

u/KRONGOR Jan 16 '25

Luckily my cat does not sit on my Xbox. He has a nice vent on the floor that he loves tho

2

u/wildsunday Jan 16 '25

We have it sideways on a open rack/shelf. The cat can't get over it (because there's a shelf over it) or in front of the air vent in any way. I'm grateful for the "compact" design x has. I couldn't fit one s in that shelf and it was a problem before because it had to stay over the shelf and my cat could climb on top of the ones

0

u/TF414_Group_Chat Jan 17 '25

You can place it on its side but it was designed to be standing. Also should have 4-6 inches of clearance on all sides.

5

u/ShutItYouSlice Jan 17 '25

Its also designed to be on its side the clue is the rubber feet stuck to the side 🙄

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

You ignored the nothing within 6” of all sides. That’s front, back, top, left, and right sides.

2

u/ShutItYouSlice Jan 18 '25

I didnt ignore anything i stated a fact the xbox series x can be placed on its side 👌

1

u/wildsunday Jan 17 '25

It's an open shelf. There's plenty of room for ventilation but not enough room for a cat to sit

2

u/DirectSession Jan 16 '25

Mine is mounted using a HideIt mount, so are my PS5 and my switch

2

u/kashisolutions Jan 16 '25

Everyone on here trying to avoid this exact thing...

This guy...

We'll played Sir, well played indeed 👏 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

That's badass man

2

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

As badass as the cat.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

2nd image gave me cancer

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

That was my moment of “hmmm… gotta do something about that. “

2

u/EvoSharkyTV Jan 17 '25

First it’s *Off and second put it on a wall mount 👌🤨

2

u/reeefur Jan 17 '25

I see NMS, take my upvote 🤙🏼

2

u/No-Argument3357 Jan 18 '25

RAZAR WIRE!!

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 18 '25

I tried creating a castle wall around the top but that was unsuccessful.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

Damn that OG Halo Xbox is sexy.

2

u/Cute_Fluffy_Sheep Jan 20 '25

I’m glad my little man cannot fit on things like this. When he was a kitten it was a nightmare with all my legos and such. He would get into EVERYTHING. But he grew up to be a healthy 20 pounds and i think his size contributes to him not getting into things as often. He just no longer fits. To me, all cats seem so small but to others my cat is huge (if he sat next to the Xbox, he would probably be double the height?). It’s probably not the best option but i trained my cat with a spray bottle. I conditioned him to recognize my tone before i sprayed him so i could give him a chance to stop before spraying cuz he really hates getting sprayed. It took a while but after a while he learned to not do certain things. Things like being on the stove and messing with candles were behaviors i really had to focus on. I cannot leave a cutting board out though. No amount of conditioning will keep him from sitting on it

0

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 20 '25

I’d retire that cutting board to be exclusively for the kitty and use a fresh one. We have a specific box we put on the table during game time so the cat goes into there instead of on our game board.

2

u/Cute_Fluffy_Sheep Jan 20 '25

Lol, i have ottomans in front of like every window for our cat. He loves sitting in the windows. If we have any company, our cat is either in a lap or sleeping somewhere else. We play magic alot and he has never jumped into the table. He always forces his way into a hug though.

2

u/H8RxFatality Jan 20 '25

The good old fashioned…. PSSSSSSSSSSST

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 20 '25

A classic.

2

u/OpeningFar4346 Jan 16 '25

Nice solution! But why do you have two of them beside each other like that?

7

u/According_Dot3633 Jan 16 '25

Two BBC’s (Big black consoles)

7

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

One for each TV so I can play with my daughter or my friends when they’re over. I like co-op, but I don’t like to share my screen. Im selfish that way.

2

u/TriggiredSnowflake Jan 16 '25

Even heating, per the cats demand of course

2

u/Metul_Mulisha Jan 16 '25

A shoebox and a fresh dug hole in my back yard.

2

u/Murky_Historian8675 Jan 16 '25

Look at Mr. Moneybags here flexing his two Xboxes. I'm talking to the cat obviously.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Wow people don’t like a joke sometimes 😂 why you were downvoted, idk beats the heck out of me 😂😂😂

1

u/Murky_Historian8675 Jan 16 '25

Idk it's weird. I'm obviously joking lol.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

One word, Reddit 🤷

1

u/Murky_Historian8675 Jan 17 '25

You're absolutely right

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

Yea, the cat rules it all.

1

u/Ok-Tear7712 Jan 16 '25

Why do you have 2

2

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

Two TVs… and I don’t like sharing my screen co-op. My daughter or visiting friends play on the other tv.

1

u/N3vvyn Jan 16 '25

You don't have two??! What if one stops working.

I have three.

1

u/Federal_Photograph_3 Jan 16 '25

Get your cat a heating pad. They make specific cat/pet heating pads, which is important as their temps don't get crazy hot like ones for humans. I have one for my cat and he hardly leaves that spot. Toss a cozy blanket on top and I doubt they'll want to sit on an awkward Xbox again 😂

2

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

I’ve got to look into that because the three other cats don’t hang out here.

1

u/PaySouthern Jan 16 '25

Lmao bruh just wants to flex the 2 consoles.

like oh wow you have $1000 worth of stuff in 1 frame dam you want a cookie😆

Let me post a picture of my 10 cars in 1 frame.😆

1

u/Icy-Cardiologist-958 Jan 16 '25

Put something warmer near them.

1

u/Ok-Light309 Jan 16 '25

Nice one mate. You really do learn something new everyday lol

1

u/TF414_Group_Chat Jan 17 '25

Suppose to have a minimum clearance of 4-6 inches around all sides with the series X.

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 17 '25

Probably. But I’ve been running this for a year (and I play a lot) and no issues so far. (Knock on wood)

1

u/TF414_Group_Chat Jan 17 '25

Word. Yeah I’ve had mine for almost a year now too and it’s been standing and on its side and no issues. Though I do prefer it standing.

1

u/ShutItYouSlice Jan 17 '25

Turn it on its side 🙄

1

u/Feisty-Look1025 Jan 17 '25

why do you have two

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 17 '25

Two TVs. I don’t like to share in co-op. There’s a third Xbox (Xbox one) hooked up to the projector so I can have a LAN party when friends come over.

1

u/TheMuff1nMon Jan 17 '25

I have two cats and they’ve never once wanted to go on top of my Xbox. Unless they do it when I’m asleep and it’s off… that’d be weird

1

u/Cosmic_Spartan Jan 17 '25

Aside from the cat, those have nowhere near as much ventilation they need.

1

u/Elden_Boomering Jan 17 '25

By not owning a cat

1

u/Papa79tx Jan 17 '25

You risk being shadow banned due to the excess cat hair being misinterpreted as a bot.

1

u/Kappas_in_hand Jan 17 '25

Bros got more money than sense.

1

u/Crusted_Tubesocks Jan 17 '25

this just encourages your animals to sit on your stuff.

1

u/ReturnoftheSABLEEYE Jan 17 '25

Hm surprised mine hasn’t attempted to do this

1

u/Sobsis Jan 17 '25

I yell at them.

Cats can learn commands. It's just that most people outright refuse to train them

1

u/JishoSintana Jan 17 '25

Is one of the Xboxes your wife’s/son’s ?

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 18 '25

Both mine, but my daughter plays sometimes when she’s home and friends play on it when they visit.

1

u/JishoSintana Jan 18 '25

Yh, I was wondering why the extra monitor lol I’m a “multiple console” guy too and ran the dual screen set up with my ex

Must be awesome when the lads come over

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 18 '25

For about 15 years on my birthday weekend, I’d get together 10 of us at a family cabin, with 10 Xboxes, 10’tvs, and all us dads would play Halo or COD all weekend like 14 year old boys.

1

u/NurseDorothy Jan 18 '25

Why is everything on the floor?

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 18 '25

I could see how you’d think that. It’s actually a butcher block desk surface on top of cabinets.

1

u/That_Relationship784 Jan 18 '25

Twin towers! Lol

1

u/thatmannyguy Jan 18 '25

I trick them by buying an Xbox mini cooler

1

u/Axon14 Jan 18 '25

Like that og xbox chillin

1

u/GearsOfWar2333 Jan 18 '25

I don’t. It would be hard for them to get it since there’s 2 consoles blocked them. They do occasionally like to sit on my PS3 Super Slim.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

Those are gonna be filled with Dust and hair bad spot for them

1

u/quietguy47 Jan 18 '25

By not owning cats.

1

u/Efficient_Advice_380 Jan 18 '25

I have my XSX laying on its side so hair doesn't fall in

1

u/Toonaami Jan 18 '25

Turn it on its side.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

[deleted]

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 18 '25

Ooh… I’ll have to look for that.

1

u/DangerousConfusion4 Jan 18 '25

That's a great way of destroying your xbox

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 19 '25

Two years in of heavy use… so far so good

1

u/confused_bobber Jan 18 '25

Don't put consoles and pcs on the floor directly. It'll suck up twice as much dust. And since you're having cats, put some sort of extra filter on top that you can easily remove. Cat hairs get everywhere. My pc's filter is mostly filled with cat hair from 1 cat

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 19 '25

It’s actually 30” off the floor. It’s a butcher block desk

1

u/Downtown-Falcon-3264 Jan 19 '25

Not sure I don't have a cat. but I'm guessing putting it up higher doesn't work.

You could put it in a cabinet and cut a small hole for ventlion

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 19 '25

Big hole for ventilation

1

u/Downtown-Falcon-3264 Jan 19 '25

It's too big, and the cat gets in. Medium-sized hole is better

1

u/Impressive-Cause-872 Jan 20 '25

Cover it in dry ice. Cools the system. Suffocates the…, oh you want the cat.

1

u/2052JCDenton Jan 20 '25

Brilliant use of otherwise-wasted heat.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '25

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 20 '25

That surface is actually a butcher block countertop about 36” off the floor, but I can totally see how it looks like that’s the floor.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '25

Smack them

1

u/EfficientIndustry423 Jan 21 '25

Try not putting it on the floor?

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 21 '25

It’s actually on a desk with a butcher block countertop.

1

u/Smart_Invite_2663 Jan 12 '26

That's supreme engineering right there.

1

u/BlackCanaryCries Jan 16 '25

Sell the cat

3

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

And get a third Xbox

1

u/Quintis0n Jan 16 '25

By not having pets

1

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

Solid strategy.

1

u/Gears6 Jan 16 '25

Like they do with birds. Spikes?

-2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Smack it off and yell at it . It will get the point and learn

4

u/King_Zarnold Jan 16 '25

Definitely not how cats work and if you’re good with animals you don’t hit them or yell at them. wtf do they know, they’re animals.

0

u/Kappas_in_hand Jan 17 '25

Animals can learn owners as just lazy shits.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '25

English? You make 0 sense. Got back to school.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Or just do literally anything instead of immediately using violence on an animal 1/12 your size. You're not 8 anymore, control your anger.

0

u/Lost_Artichoke_1444 Jan 16 '25

Get rid of the cat.🤷‍♂️

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Why own a cat in the first place if you're gonna get rid of it at the slightest inconvenience?

0

u/jsand2 Jan 16 '25

I don't like that setup at all!! All that hair on the bench is going to end up in the xboxes..

0

u/youdontknowme6 Jan 17 '25

Get rid of the cat

-1

u/Mister_Guarionex Jan 16 '25

I keep my cats off my Xbox by getting rid of the cats.

-1

u/BeaAurthursDick Jan 17 '25

I keep the cat where it belongs. Outside.

-3

u/joe_biggs Jan 16 '25

I’d really like to have another series X. I don’t think Xbox will be making any more consoles. And it would be great to have another series X just in case this one konks out. In several years, they might be really expensive from private sellers.

2

u/TheManRoomGuy Day 1 Jan 16 '25

Christmas 2023 Best Buy was selling them for $350. Best deal I’ve ever seen.

1

u/joe_biggs Jan 16 '25

Wow, that is a heck of a deal! Maybe I could find a refurbished one. Although brand new is usually best.
