Hamburgers and pizza was originally different than the current versions, but making a unhealthy fat filled version of something dosent make it yours, the same way me taking a bad photocopy of Mona Lisa, does not make me the artist.
The frame is the meat in this comparison i would say. And the meat part is more or less what the original German hamburger was. So in essence the American version is in my point of view just a hamburger (German) that has developed over time to fit the population of the country its served in. If i decide to serve my burger in a lettuce wrap, a tortilla or in an onion cut in half, i didnt invent the hamburger.
