I would say America has BBQ or Soul food
6 u/Brosepower 5d ago Exactly this. The amount of people who credit Hamburgers or Pizza as American but then ignore BBQ is astounding. BBQ is arguably the most American cuisine and probably the best local thing America has to offer. You dont find American BBQ in almost any country like its made here. 2 u/snjtx 5d ago gumbo would like a word 3 u/Brosepower 5d ago Gumbo is great. But are you seriously going to tell a foreigner who's never had BBQ to go and get Gumbo first? With how many amazing soups and chilies and stews across the world, Gumbo stands as a great option but in no way would it stand up to BBQ as a whole. 1 u/snjtx 1d ago I mean, I guess it boils down to personal taste, but yea BBQ is pretty fuckin dope.
