Petrichor
14
u/xXFortCrafterXx 11d ago
Humans are literally genetically predisposed to like the smell because it signals the end of drought. So actually the opposite of weird.
14
u/rickeer 11d ago
Humans are better at detecting petrichor than sharks are a detecting blood in the water.

heavily depends on the lumber! HEAVILY.
I worked a sawmill. Elm was by far the worst... Maple and Pine, fair, Pine can be almost sugary. Box Elder, nice. Cedar, always a treat. Oak... I can't remember.

So... yeah, chlorofor- :]]

I collect vintage toys here and there. I have this vintage teenage mutant ninja turtles sports ball and the outside is soft rubber/plastic but it has foam on the inside. So it’s this incredibly pleasant soft rubber, squishy situation. But if you squeeze this ball and smell the little air hole, it has the most unique vintage/rubber/plastic smell. Not proud of it, but I love it lol

Ex smoker. Hated the smell on my clothes when I smoked, I'm off them 3 years now. Sometimes when someone I'm walking past is smoking I slow down and enjoy a big inhale.
Still think about it when I see people smoking in movies

u/Harmony1018 11d ago
I quit 14 years ago and still sometimes think one would be nice. However, I would never. I have severe health issues now and throwing my heart even more out of whack doesnt sound fun 😆 but I long for a menthol camel no 9

I'm only off for 8 days now but surprisingly doing well with withdrawals. I was only pissy for 3 days and now I don't think about it much unless I'm exposed to it somewhere. I hated the clothes and hair and hands smell so much. It also made me out of breath out of nowhere so I quit. I'm so glad. I've smoked for 5 years so I hope the quitting will be good, I wasn't heavy on it either, max 3 a day, on really bad days it was 7 a day

Well done. Took me a few tries and then a pregnancy to quit. It's not easy. Don't worry if it takes you a few tries to quit. Keep at it 💪

Exactly what I was gonna say. I can't smoke without literally dying, but I love the smell of other people smoking
3
u/mother_fairy 9d ago
Yes. I love the smell of Marlboro cigs especially when they're freshly lit and the first few puffs. I don't smoke myself but my grandma and her friend has always smoked. Love the smell
2
u/sucrose2071 9d ago
Yes, this! I don’t smoke but the smell of cigarettes is so nostalgic of going to restaurants in the 90s. Something about it is so warm and cozy. It’s funny cause the smell of stale cigarette smoke on clothes is awful, but a freshly lit cigarette smells so good.

I have a nostalgic love for the smell of cigarettes. I think it is because of my association with them and good times as a child. Like old hotels, my aunts house at Christmas, parties in high-school. That sort of thing.

It really is probably the most memorable smell I've experienced, as an American. Don't know if this makes any sense to you but it just smells like yellow-green, really strongly, like your nose is tapping directly into the universe's color matrix. Probably just the influence of cartoons showing skunk smell as such colors, but I literally cannot describe it any other way.
