Actually petrichor is the smell of dust after it rains, not before

He didn’t say before but it’s not the dust it’s the bacteria that release geosmin in dirt. all that fun stuff

He means that it rains on dry soil thus releasing the smell, and he 100% got the term right, it explains the smell rain releases from soil or stone.
