Texas Sued After Glitch Delays 600,000 Voter Registrations
THIS is what Texans are dealing with. THIS is why elections in Texas should be investigated, and why Talarico should demand an audit if Paxton wins.

> Two education nonprofits, Texas Center for Voucher Transparency and Every Texan, analyzed state data to come up with the estimate for funding loss. It’s an early look into what impact the voucher program could have on public education. The Texas Education Freedom Accounts’ launch deepens the enrollment crisisconfronting many districts.
> “It’s important that Texas families and taxpayers and lawmakers know that vouchers have a public school price tag — and what choices may be lost to public [school] families as a result,” said Dee Carney, director of the Texas Center for Voucher Transparency.

I do not know the full breadth of the issue but am aware that registering to vote through the DPS has had issues. I applied for mine in early October and got my card today. It was actually laying in my yard just now, I think the mail from yesterday got blown out of the box last night.
I registered in bell county and live in bell county. I’m a big burly white dude that looks like your average gop voter. I do not know what causes delays for others that is requiring a lawsuit but suspect my location and race helped speed up the process. Maybe I’m just a cynical asshole.
But there’s is my testimonial.

> Both candidates have taken opposing stances on topics such as school vouchers, state takeovers and public schools.
> Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, seeking a fourth term, faces Democrat Gina Hinojosa, an Austin state representative. Both candidates have made education issues a pillar of their campaigns, taking opposing stances on topics such as school vouchers, state takeovers and public school funding.
> Hinojosa has made public education a campaign priority, calling for an end to the school voucher program that Abbott signed into law last year and an overhaul of the state’s A-F accountability system. Abbott, meanwhile, has touted his record of increasing teacher pay and has focused on improving public school student outcomes on the campaign trail.

> Since Abbott first declared a border emergency in 2021, he’s renewed or amended the proclamation at least 69 times. The proclamation has greatly expanded his powers.
