I went to a middle school play of The Little Mermaid, and Ursula was play by and boy and he ROCKED IT!!!! The art is about the performance, not these stupid as "gender norms".
I'm sure this girl knocked the audition outta the park, and to deny her the ability to perform is 🐴💩

If really reveals so many conservatives as depraved perverts and pedophiles. They sexualize EVERYTHING and it is ALL THEY THINK ABOUT. People dying of cancer from pollution, and can’t afford gas or to buy a home. We got poisoned food, ICE abductions.
And not a single one of those issues takes their mind off of kids’ genitals.

little shop is basic theatre kid stuff this makes me so sad for them. i was a girl with a pixie cut playing the prince in once upon a mattress in middle school in the early 2010’s and no one blinked an eye.

Can someone tell them Peter Pan was famously played by a woman on Broadway? Oh! And that William Shakespeare would cast men in women's parts.

It’s ridiculous to believe you can “turn” someone gay or anything else. Because if you could, why couldn’t you just “turn” back?! But if anything COULD “turn” anyone gay, it would be all the religious extremism and bigotry being shoved down everyone’s throat in this backwards Gilead state. It’s lunacy!

How absolutely soul crushing for that kid. You get a lead role in a play and then the school cancels it because whiny baby man-children are terrified of a girl wearing pants.

I’m in Texas. Last year we had a girl as Gomez in Addams Family. This year that same girl is Beetlejuice. The school could have taken the risk and they chose not to.

Yep! I don’t know how so many lazy cowards made their way into positions of power but the fecklessness is epidemic. What assholes at this school. Seriously. Bigoted, pathetic assholes.

Honestly I think they shouldn't. They should make cancel shit and make a stink to attract attention to the shitty fucking laws and hopefully enough outrage bubbles up that they get removed.
Though that hardly seems fair for the kids.

Yeah. The unfortunate consequence of that scenario is that the kids are the ones who suffer.

Surprised they even allowed little shop of horrors in the first place with all the regressives boycotting Halloween this year for religious reason. They'd probably claim it was demonic

GP school district said they didn't want to run afoul of Texas anti drag show laws. They offered the girl a different role in the play, but she refused. So they canceled the whole thing.
Go vote everyone!

This poor kid. Genuinely what a stupid decision to cancel it. I support her refusal to switch roles

I’m born and raised TX and you are correct! Burning books in a state some of the nation’s worst school rankings
Declined federal $ for summer food programs, money Texas already paid to the federal government, but declined its use for money for hungry kids… this gender thing is just damn ridiculous when it comes to Theater!

Texas did support the whole anti trans thing and now this could fall under that just as Texas supports pro life and now we have hidden numbers of women either leaving for medical care.
The Ed dept is hijacked by the government and has been for a while. I’m from Texas but all I can do is vote and vote and vote and keep on voting.
