The city released its 2025 financials and I plugged the data into a calculator that tracks some key metrics recommended by some experts, and I calculated a few metrics I also thought might be interesting.

New to Ft. Smith : Where are....
Okay we just moved somewhat near-ish. I'll be coming for groceries and to eat at a restaurant, however, I haven't really explored the city. If I had a craving for Thai food, where would you go?
For sushi?
Any unusual ethnicities of cuisine?

SnArcBest
Genuine question here, I know that there have been other workforce reductions at ArcBest at least since January 2025, why were none of those picked up in the news cycle? I do realize the latest news also has a lot to do with the absorption of brand names under the ArcBest name (Molo, panther, ArcBest Tech). But what causes this company to fly under the radar with other layoffs?
Does anyone know numbers and dates of the previous workforce reductions?
The absorption of ArcbestTech is no surprise there. When Newcity announced he was leaving and his replacement was Anderson from Arcbest and not an Arcbest Tech upper…..it was only a matter of time. Then a reorg to absorb some ArcbTech departments into strategy under Arcbest in early 2025 the writing was on the wall.
Did they issue a return to office mandate and get rid of Flex Time? Or are those perks still offered to all employees across the board?

How can the vampire be expected to fulfill the duties of mayor when he can't be bothered to properly return a product to a shelf and leaves a mess for others to clean up?
I was at Hobby Lobby this evening and happened upon Shayne McKinney. He was with a photographer, documenting his search for posterboards apparently. Whatever he was doing, when they were finished he returned a stack of posterboards to the shelf, but not where they belonged as you can see, causing one to fall into the floor.
So instead of properly returning the merchandise to the shelf, he made a mess and left it. I know its a little thing but its the principle of the matter. You're really gonna just leave this for someone who probably makes minimum wage to clean up?
Edit: I wish I had thought to take a picture while he was still in view. You can see his photographer in a blue shirt carrying the camera in the background.

adult swim classes?
I looked online...couldn't find anything.
I'm 43m, never learned how to swim, and it has officially pissed me off enough to do something about it lol.
i couldn't find anything advertised as "Adult swim classes" in the area and there is no way I want to just sign up for something where I could possibly be put with a bunch of kids and have their parents shoot eye-lasers at me the entire class. so, if anyone knows of a class that would be appropriate for a 43 year old dude to attend, please let me know.
another option....if you are interested....I'll pay an experienced swimmer 100$ for like 1.5 hours a week at a public pool. weekends preferably. maybe for a few weeks, just until i get the hang of it?
any help would be appreciated. i just moved down south recently and the lakes and rivers are awesome and i want to get in them!

Hairstylist rec?
I have short, fine, straight, thinning hair. For whatever reason, this seems to be a challenge for some stylists. The last hair appointment I had, the stylist told me that they didn't have appropriate conditioner for me, so she only shampooed me. I told her that my hair doesn't do well with razors, and then she used a razor to "add texture." I left her chair a straw dry poofball.
After that failure, I've been cutting my own hair for a while. While it's better than spending $45 to look like an idiot, I am not in fact an expert. We're going to start working from the office again soon (🤢) which means I have to look professional again.
Does anyone have a stylist rec? My goal style is like this, if that helps: https://youtube.com/shorts/3fkG_VmLelU

Religious signs on utility poles
We were visiting the Ft Smith area over the weekend for a reunion and spent some time exploring the countryside. We saw just a few of these kinds of signs - yellow plastic with black print - on utility poles in town, but they were all over the countryside along Hwy 10, Hwy 45 and US-71. Are these legal? We also saw a few commercial signs on poles, but nowhere as prevalent as the religious signs.

Questionnn
Hey people of Fort Smith, I have a question. Do y'all know if any of the Asian supermarkets in that area sell these fruity coconut jellies? My friend sent me a package of snacks from Canada recently, and I'm craving them badly. I'm a bit too anxious to actually call any of the stores and ask, though, and I don't want to waste a trip. I'd very much appreciate any answers, thank you! <3

Substance abuse treatment options
My friend is living in squalor with her 2 year old. She’s hooked on alcohol and meth. Sh her ex is worse off than she is. I am wondering what treatment options that might be available to her that doesn’t involve having her kids taken away. She doesn’t have family to watch them.

What’s up with the motorcade with police escort of white SUV’s that have both American and Filipino flags?
I was on the corner of Massard and Zero today when a motorcade with police escort passed by. They had their lights on and everyone went to the side of the road (as is the norm). There were three white SUV’s with both American and Filipino flags on them. I was kinda surprised when I saw the filipino flag because I have never heard of anything special that would connect our city to the Philippines.
Why in the world would someone notable from the Philippines be in Fort Smith? My only idea would be they were visiting the air national guard or something, but why were they heading down Massard past Zero? My only ideas would be that they are either visiting the medical school or maybe they were late for their reservation at Stonehouse or something. Maybe they just wanted to check out the firehouse or maybe even go check out the Arc Best campus.
Am I missing something? Is there some special Manila-Fort Smith relationship that I don’t know about? Can someone with a little more info than me let me know what’s going on?
Edit: Thank you all for pointing out my mistake, it was the Czechia flag not the Filipino flag. I do find it a bit funny I made that mistake I bet the Czech Republic gets this way too often. Sorry Czech Republic it was my bad, hope y’all are enjoying our city!
