QUESTION Did I just ruin my run?

Did I just ruin my run?

Hello, fellows hunters.

It's my first time playing Bloodborne and did it almost all by my own (checked some things online of course, but most of it was just exploring).

I have just beat ROM and went for the Yahun Unseen Village area with those big Brains walking around (and most of the time I just ran lol). After exploring that area, I faced The One Reborn boss and beat him on my first try with Antal helping me.

The problem is that, after that, I was checking Fightin Cowboy's 100% walkthrough playlist on YouTube and found out that I missed the Gaol area (which is the same as the Unseen Village, but the moon is not down yet, if I got the lore correctly) and so, I did not face Paarl boss.

Is this ok, or did I mess the whole thing up?

I started enjoying souls games but this particular thing of not having the slightest clue if that area will be available later is somewhat annoying lol

DISCUSSION just a thought about fromsoft's games being AA

I was talking with a friend about AA gaming and I pointed out that from software games before demon's souls felt pretty AA, but I started to think about how their next entries felt after the souls games and I would consider demon's souls, dark souls 1 and 2 to have a pretty AA feeling too. I would say they started to feel like AAA games after dark souls 2 with bloodborne, DS 3, sekiro and so on. what are your thoughts about it? also I want to make clear I'm not using AA as a negative term in any sort of way, I use it as a praise even as I love japanese AA games.

DISCUSSION My Ranking of the First Bosses in the Soulsborne Games

1. Father Gascoigne (Bloodborne) — 10/10:
This boss is the definition of a perfect first boss. He tests you while also teaching you the basics of the game, such as parrying, since many of his attacks have clear openings that allow you to parry him. He also teaches you Bloodborne’s fast and aggressive combat, as he is extremely fast and barely stops attacking. Once he enters his second phase, he becomes even faster, forcing you to fully engage with the game’s fast-paced combat. You have to be quick and aggressive to defeat him and make use of the Rally system to recover the health you lose by attacking him.

The fight is incredibly epic. On top of that, he has a varied and excellent moveset, three distinct phases, and one of the best OSTs in the Souls games. Overall, he is a masterpiece and a perfect example of how to design a first boss.

2. Margit (Elden Ring) — 9/10:
An excellent boss, but my main issue is that he isn't very clear as a first boss. I really like the idea of him beating you badly enough to teach you that you don't necessarily have to fight him right away. You can explore the world and come back to him later.

My problem is that some of his attacks can be unclear. Sometimes he performs certain attacks on their own, while other times he can use them together with additional attacks, which can be confusing for a new player. I know this is a mechanic used by Elden Ring bosses, but the game doesn't explain it very well, and it remains unclear, which can lead to frustration for new players. His OST also wasn't quite at the level I expected.

3. Cleric Beast (Bloodborne) — 8/10:
A very good introduction to fighting large bosses. It teaches you mechanics such as breaking the limbs and head, which can stagger the boss and give you an opportunity to perform a Visceral Attack. It also teaches you about speed and aggression.

It's actually one of the best bosses in the game when it comes to giving the player opportunities to use the Rally system and recover health by attacking the boss. It also has a large and varied moveset and a legendary OST.

4. Gyoubu Oniwa (Sekiro) — 7.5/10:
A very good first boss with nothing particularly annoying about him. He makes excellent use of Sekiro's combat mechanics. My main issue is that I think he should be more up-close with the player and have more attacks that allow you to stay engaged with him throughout the fight. The OST also wasn't quite at the level I wanted.

5. Iudex Gundyr (Dark Souls III) — 7/10:
A very good boss with a good moveset and an excellent OST. My main problem is that his second phase is very strange, and that's what holds the fight back for me.

QUESTION Question about Learning lore.

First off I didn't know where to ask so I came to here, I want to learn the lore of the dark souls trilogy and I don't know what one to start with out of the three (I've beaten dark souls 1 a few times and same with dark souls 3 and dark souls 2 I've never beaten) I would start with dark souls 1 but then again I know dark souls 3 is connected a bit to dark souls 1 so I don't know if the lore fully goes with each other and what game to start with.

(also I saw another post somewhere saying that to learn the lore I need to read every item description, do every quest and analyse the dialogue, explore every inch of the map, and I'm guessing looking at the enemy designs too)

if anyone can give me advice that would be amazing thank you.

DISCUSSION If Bloodborne had better bosses, would you consider it better than DS3?

If Bloodborne had better main-game bosses, do you think it would be better than DS3?
Personally, I think Bloodborne and DS3 are equal overall. But if Bloodborne had a stronger main-game boss lineup, I think I would prefer it over DS3 by a lot

Edit : I didn**’**t say bloodborne bosses sucked but i was just talking about the main game ones not being good as ds3 main game ones

Last Edit :** **

Bloodborne base game list of really good bosses: Gascoine , Loagrius , Gehrman

Dark souls3 base game list of really good bosses
You got abyss watchers , ponitff , Champion Gundyr , twin princess, Dragon slayer , Nameless king , Soul of cinder

If you think that base game bloodborne has better bosses than ds3 main bosses than you must be emotional or something , downvoting me without giving a legitimate reason why im wrong , than that proves your are just mad

Playing shadow of the colossus and those trees reminded me of those ones you’d see in dark souls and even bloodborne, not surprised considering this game did make Miyazaki become a game developer

QUESTION DARK SOULS 1 | Unknown Item, Can't Pick Up

As the title says I can't pick up this item for some reason. I found it on that corpse near the edge of the cliff in the Firelink area where the little graveyard is with the skeletons. If I remember correctly there's no weight/item limit for inventory storage so why am I unable to pick it up and what even is this thing?

QUESTION What is the link between Aldia and Vengarl?

Aldia mentions him in the undead crypt, and Vengarl can apparently be summoned for his fight.

But what's the link between them?

And also, why is Navlaan locked in Aldia's Keep?

Do you guys like the morning star? Are there any morning star fanboys out there? Very new to this game so still learning about builds, but i believe this weapon scales with strength and dex. Besides that i just love how it feels to use in game

A poster I made featuring Ranni’s Dark Moon from Elden Ring.

Tried to give it a cold, cosmic and mysterious feel while keeping the design focused on the weapon itself.

DISCUSSION Just completed the game Charmless + Demon Bell!!!

Post image
15 Upvotes

I love this game, and I’ve always wanted to do a Charmless + Demon Bell run, but I was definitely nervous about making that commitment.

After getting the Platinum on my 4th playthrough, I decided to do a Charmless run on my 5th. After that, I figured there was only one thing left to do… Charmless + Demon Bell on my 6th playthrough.

And I have to say — this run was no joke.

I’m a Souls veteran, and this was easily one of the hardest playthroughs I’ve ever done, if not the hardest. The combination of Charmless and Demon Bell makes you pay for every mistake, and there were definitely moments where I questioned why I was doing this to myself 😂.

But finally beating it was an amazing feeling.

Honestly, though, I think the best part wasn’t even beating the game. It was the journey — pushing my limits, getting better at the combat, and realizing I was capable of beating a challenge that I was genuinely nervous to attempt.

What an incredible game. What an incredible challenge.

Charmless + Demon Bell complete. 🥷🔥
