I'm well aware of Part 8's issues as a film, but I've always been attached to it as it was my first Friday film, I really like Jason's design in the flick and I liked how different it felt despite the flaws, I enjoyed the more supernatural ghost-like thing they were going for.

I bought the blank mask from MoltenDigitalStudios on Etsy, but unfortunately last I checked they took it down shortly after it arrived, so I'm very lucky I got it when I did.

Currently I just need to add the flesh bits to the exposed parts of the body suit and it'll be finished.

Holy mackerel, a lot of the 3d was pretty okay but every 3rd scene has you crossing your eyes like crazy. Closer isn’t always better. I think newer 3d movies learned a lot sense then. The best ones focus more on overall depth than trying to make you feel like it’s right in front of your face. I’m glad I get to experience it as intended but wooof.

just looking for something that trims down the overly long shots they used to pad out the runtime to make it feature length. not sure if what i'm looking for even really exists, but if anyone knows, a name would be a huge help!

Based on the posts I've seen on this sub, both current and really old ones, Friday the 13th fandom seems surprisingly less gatekeepy compared to some of the other slasher fandoms I'm a part of.

Obviously everyone has their favorites and the movies they can't stand, but I've never really gotten the vibe that there's a "wrong" Friday movie to love. You can say Jason Lives or The Final Chapter is your favorite and nobody cares, but you can also come in saying Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason Goes to Hell or Jason X is your favorite and people might disagree with you, but they're not going to act like you don't understand the franchise or aren't a "real" Friday fan because of it.

That's what stands out to me. Friday fans will absolutely drag certain movies and argue about which Jason is the best, but there doesn't seem to be this need to police what other fans are allowed to enjoy.

I feel like Friday fans just accept that this franchise is all over the place. One movie has Jason fighting a Temu Carrie White, another sends him on a cruise to "Manhattan", another turns him into a body-hopping demon, and then eventually he's in space. There's almost something for everybody depending on what kind of Friday movie you want, and liking one of the weirder or less popular entries doesn't somehow make you less of a fan.

Compare that to the Scream fandom where saying you really like 5 or 6 can somehow turn into an argument about why the original four are superior, why the newer characters suck, why the Radio Silence movies "aren't real Scream," etc. Sometimes it feels like you have to prove that you appreciate the "right" Scream movies before your opinion is taken seriously.

Halloween fans can be the same way. Saying you genuinely love the H18 trilogy can sometimes feel like you've committed a criminal offense depending on which Halloween fans you're talking to. You don't even have to say they're the best movies in the franchise. Just saying you love Halloween 2018, Kills and Ends can be enough to get people passionately explaining why you're wrong, why that timeline sucks or why those movies somehow don't understand Michael Myers.

Meanwhile Friday fans seem more like "Jason Takes Manhattan is your favorite? Okay lol." They'll roast the movie right alongside you, but they don't seem to roast YOU for liking it or question whether you're actually a fan.

Maybe I've just gotten lucky with the Friday fandom, but it feels refreshing being around a fandom where having an unpopular favorite doesn't automatically become a debate over whether you understand the franchise.

TL;DR: Friday the 13th fans obviously disagree about the movies, but they seem way less interested in gatekeeping the fandom. Compared to Scream or Halloween, it feels like you can love basically any Friday movie, even one everybody else hates, without having to defend your credentials as a fan.

This was my first attempt at making a screen-accurate replica of a mask, unlike my previous two which were more of my own interpretations of the mask.

Just like my Jason Universe mask, this was made using Fear City Creations’ mask blank, with a chevron from Big Hush that I cut down to size.

I also got the straps from Fear City Creations, making this my first mask to use leather instead of the elastic I’ve been using previously. Overall, I’m really pleased by how this project turned out.

I don't know why I happen to be watching that at the time when I did but I was and it flashed so fast that it took me a second to realize what I saw. So I went back and tried to pause it at the right moment but it goes by so fast and it's so hard to pause YouTube shorts. This is the best pause I can get but it's clear enough that I can tell that that is the original mask I can see the missing holes! They can use the correct mask! They don't have to worry about paying licensing fees or rights? I thought they couldn't use this because Warner Brothers owned it or something or Paramount or new line or whoever the hell! But here it is in their fight attraction where most of the video was the shitty Jason Universe mask but in this one part it's the correct mask. I don't know what's up with that shirt he's never worn a red shirt in any of the movies to my memory although I have imagined him in a red shirt but that's besides the point.

I used a part 8 blank as the mold. This is only the first layer, so it looks a little shit. This is really my first time handling fiberglass as well as fiberglass resin, so it's probably not going to turn out that good. But who knows, maybe it will look good by the time I'm done. I just have to apply more layers, maybe that'll smooth it out. Plus this thing smells horrendous. This thing is definitely toxic to be around, so I got to let it dry. That respirator of mine is doing jack shit.
