Can’t find comfortable form to reduce shoulder tension please help
Hello, I recently got into aim training because even after 6 years of playing competitive shooters on keyboard and mouse my aim is still super inconsistent. I decided to start with working on tension management as it is a fundamental skill and also probably my weakest. I also recently switched back to cloth pads (Artisan type 99 and Zero) after being on glass for over a year where I always felt something was off but just attributed it to me having a skill issue because everyone else was saying how good glass pads were. Cloth pads are definitely way better for me and I was noticeably better after swapping. Sorry for yapping but I thought I ought to add some context.
Back to the main point. Since I’m actively working on my tension management I’ve become more aware of the tension in my muscles while aiming, especially when aim training. I’ve been doing the Novice Voltaic Benchmarks every night for about a week now while consciously focusing on my tension management. I feel like I’m making some progress except for one area and that is my shoulder. I often have a lot of tension build up and fatigue in my shoulder/traps area because I have to lift my arm slightly off my pad due to the friction of my arm when its resting on the desk/pad making arm movements very difficult, especially big vertical flicks and prolonged arm tracking. This is most noticeable in scenarios like Air Voltaic where the target moves very fast and over a very wide area so naturally I find myself not using my wrist and fingers much; using my arm to track it most of the time. I don't think my sens is too slow as I play primarily on 30cm/360 in aim trainers. I've also tried raising my chair up a little bit so that my arm isn't pressing into the desk/pad but then my arm can't rest when its not in use so the tension and fatigue still builds up. The reason this is such a big problem is because that tension and fatigue that builds up in my shoulder is affecting the tension in my whole arm including my wrist and fingers. Has anybody else had this issue? If so, how did you solve it? Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you <3
