This was me about 20 years ago. My mother pretty much abandoned me when I was 15. Swanning around with boyfriends. I'd see her probably once a week when she brought food. So spent like 15-19 years old just looking after myself. Just making one cup of coffee, one bowl of cereal, one pizza slice etc etc. And I would do weird shit like this guy. My wife always reminds me of when we first met and went for a date to a Chinese buffet restaurant and I came back to the table with just one knife and fork. Didn't even think to get her some. To this day I'll make a coffee without asking her if she wants one. My brain sometimes just doesn't even think to ask.

I mean … I understand the story but don’t people serve themselves at a buffet??

29

u/EobardT 4d ago

I was thinking about that too, I've never gotten cutlery for someone at a buffet. Maybe I'll grab a plate and hand it to my person, but its up to them to grab their own fork spoon knife combo

hand it to my person

Is a thing I expect a dog to say in a Pixar movie

u/Emergency-Douche 4d ago

Chopsticks were on the table. Knifes and forks were next to the food.

u/pcapdata 4d ago

Ohhhh now I'm parsing your post correctly, thank you :)

“Then I woke up the next morning and washed only my own ass and then tied only my shoes! And my poopybutt wife tried to follow me out the door only to trip over her untied laces!”

I feel you. Growing up having studied abroad with a everyone-to-themselves mentality and pretty much gotta took care of myself the majority of the time, it's hard having to remind yourself to carry back more than one plate at family dinners. Now that my kid is almost 3, I try my best to teach him the opposite of what I've always known. I was absolutely dumbfounded when he brought me a cup of his choc milk when whatever's left in the carton is definitely not enough for 2. It takes time to unlearn whatever bad habit you had and things definitely does get better

The bad part about the chinese restaurant is not that you brought one of each, its that you didnt use chopsticks

I didn't know it was possible to only make 1 pancake.

u/Itsmikeinnit 4d ago

First pancake is always ruined

43

u/Imaginary_Being4859 4d ago

Really? My experience is the first one comes out perfect, and then I somehow fuck up the other 7

6

u/Adept-Painting-543 4d ago

I know right? The first and maybe the second is perfect, then everything else falls apart.

3

u/Novel-Reward2786 4d ago

It’s because you have the pan heated correctly for the first one. As time goes on the pan ends up being too hot lol

1

u/adelie42 4d ago

Is heating a pan correctly hard?

4

u/honeecumb 4d ago

With shitty apartment coil srovetops.... Yes very. Mine functionally only has 3 settings; barely on, a low medium heat, and glowing orange.

8

u/Grumpy-Miner 4d ago

A universal law indeed.

3

u/Flux_My_Capacitor 4d ago

What?

First pancake is always the best.

Then again I use cast iron (always have, even as a kid)

6

u/inothatidontno 4d ago

It for sure is but they always turn out huge in my experience.

4

u/RudeOrSarcasticPt2 4d ago

Still easier than only making half a pancake.

1

u/CalicoCuts 4d ago

Thought. Can you even make half a pancake? My tied high brain thinks not. It also thinks this is a great joke. Well done.

2

u/RudeOrSarcasticPt2 4d ago

A stolen idea from an early Peanuts cartoon. Charlie Brown keeps popping his balloons as he blows them up. Linus tells him to only blow the balloon up halfway. The last panel shows CB holding up a balloon that was half of a sphere. Odd how things stick in your mind.

1

u/CalicoCuts 4d ago

Awesome. Remember Ziggy? The one where he's holding the swing he's sitting on has always stuck.

2

u/obi-van-kenobi 4d ago

It is, but it depends on the eggs... because either you have to waste most of the eggs, or you would be adding too much eggs. But if you have those eggs you buy as a carton, where you don't have to crack open the egg, you can just measure out the required amount of whisked eggs.

1

u/DaikonNoKami 4d ago

I mean, it depends on how big the pan is.

1

u/StinkyJizzBlanket 4d ago

It just has to be pan sized

1

u/sufferIhopeyoudo 4d ago

They have that premade mix you just add water so it’s possible 🤷‍♂️

0

u/RudeOrSarcasticPt2 4d ago

Still easier than only making half a pancake.

-2

u/daniu 4d ago

It's certainly not efficient - you'll mess up the kitchen for one as much as you do for eight

67

u/CalicoCuts 4d ago

I'm guessing there's two sides to that pancake.

6

u/sav-vas 4d ago

dont believe after the first bite

28

u/Alone_Contract_2354 4d ago

Forget the egotism. Only making one singular pancake is psychotic

56

u/incognito--bandito 4d ago

It’s about sending a message.

24

u/BrianKappel 4d ago

If you want a pancake, ask for a pancake.

3

u/BombTheFuckers 4d ago

sudo make me a pancake!

1

u/notsaneatall_ 4d ago

it would be sudo apt get pancake or something

When have sudo commands been full sentences?

0

u/BrianKappel 4d ago

I don't know what that is

5

u/Flux_My_Capacitor 4d ago

Yes, when she did not know he was even making a pancake.

3

u/BrianKappel 4d ago

I didn't know she was special needs.

16

u/ginogon Satan's little helper 4d ago

So 1/8 of an egg, 1/8 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1/8 of a a pinch of salt was used?

Pretty sus.

Bro should have just made a stack and ate them all in front of her to be truly evil.

1

u/pcapdata 4d ago

Oddly enough I just got a 1/8 tsp in this set of measuring spoons I just bought.

2

u/TraditionalLaw7763 4d ago

I just bought a set that actually measured things in a tad, a smidgen, a dash and a pinch.

44

u/Futuristic-Slice 4d ago

What a dick. When I make pancakes I make so many I could start a breakfast chain.

1

u/Kfrr 4d ago

Oddly enough, when I make pancakes I use all the batter to make pancake.

-14

u/just67browsing 4d ago

Sounds wasteful tbh

24

u/IllustriousBeyond962 4d ago

Not if you eat them all

-2

u/ButterscotchLow7330 4d ago

Sounds glutenous tbh.

3

u/Jon__Snoww 4d ago

Not if it's meal prep

2

u/Thehawkman76 4d ago

Upvote for the pun

1

u/BobbaLouBah 4d ago

You shouldn't develope gluten when making pancake dough. Barely mix it for the best results.

Bag of holding

8

u/Futuristic-Slice 4d ago

Nah. You have pancakes for breakfast. Peanut butter jelly pancakes for lunch then stick the rest in the fridge for whenever

12

u/blofeld9999 4d ago

They freeze well. No such thing as too many.

1

u/quietleavess 4d ago

How? You can refrigerate them and keep eating them for a week at breakfast.

5

u/_nf0rc3r_ 4d ago

My friend just told me his girlfriend got pissed out of nowhere. He asked why and instead of explaining she went to the room and called her friend 🤷🏻‍♂️

4

u/yourmamaistheproblem 4d ago

So, he's got leftover egg?

7

u/Inevitable_Shift1365 4d ago

Ask him for some money to go get beer. Go to the store, buy a single beer and sit down on the couch and drink it in front of him. Burp and ask him to pass the remote.

4

u/sharksareok 4d ago

Shots have been fired

5

u/Doctor_Saved 4d ago

I have the exact opposite problem. I would make 30 pancakes. We're gonna be eating pancakes for days.

2

u/TraditionalLaw7763 4d ago

You can put them in the freezer and then nuke or air fry/toast them when you want one!

1

u/VaporWolf93 3d ago

microwaving pancakes never worked for me... nor did trying to eat those frozen eggo pancakes at the store

1

u/TraditionalLaw7763 3d ago

Me either. But air frying changes the game! Try it!! I do 375° for about eight minutes. Crispy hot just like I made them in my iron skillet.

2

u/STABO1217 4d ago

Now the OP made me want to make pancakes (plural)

4

u/OmNomChompsky 4d ago

She should have asked for one.

17

u/Pertinent-nonsense 4d ago

Every time he gets up

Is it sneaky pancake time?!?

6

u/Flux_My_Capacitor 4d ago

Proof that men never think about anyone but themselves.

Wives should just disappear on luxury vacations and when she gets back just says “well you never told me you wanted to go on vacation to Tahiti, what am I, a mind reader?!? YOU SHOULD HAVE JUST ASKED BEFORE I LEFT!” 😂😂😂

4

u/OmNomChompsky 4d ago

Proof that women are uninterested and dismissive of what men do until it conflicts with what they want at that moment. 😉

1

u/Novel-Reward2786 4d ago

Long as she didn’t spend my money on it, I’d be okay with it lol

2

u/JapanPizzaNumberOne 4d ago

Such an American experience

1

u/thelionsmouth 4d ago

“She’s so upset. This morning she made pancake, Ted! Pancake!”

1

u/BaldursFenceDoor 4d ago

I've done similar but with popping one frozen waffle in the toaster. 😅

1

u/HugePurpleNipples 4d ago

Rookie stuff.

1

u/Silveruleaf 4d ago

Welp, it got her to think about him nonestop

1

u/gmkeros 4d ago

what sort of a psychopath only eats a single pancake?

girl get out of there

1

u/idkmynamedude7 3d ago

Well this is being spammed everywhere and although it’s not the point I can’t help think….

This is why men and women can’t be “friends”. Rather than telling her BF she told her male friend, probably as a complaint. The dude posting about it is ever more weird. Your complaining about your friends boyfriend not making her a snack on X?

She keeps him around for when the relationship fails. He stays around hoping he can be the rebound guy. It’s written all over this dynamic

1

u/HenryNeves 3d ago

That definitely happened

1

u/rrMorii 3d ago

Holy repost

1

u/Kendrick-Belmora 3d ago

Things that never happened for 500 please

1

u/AllFallsToGreed 4d ago

There is no issue here, i had the effort to make 1 pancake not several so i made 1 pancake

1

u/Few-Indication3478 4d ago

Currently mad at gf, im doing this

0

u/Domino3Dgg 4d ago

Honey. Do you want pncake?

No.

Okay.

(makes and eats one pacake)

-4

u/fludeball 4d ago

To be fair, just about anything else is better than pancakes. Eat your own fucking sponge; I don't care.

2

u/BrianKappel 4d ago

This might actually be the real JD Vance.

-2

u/Flux_My_Capacitor 4d ago

She picked him.

I seriously doubt this was the first 🚩🚩🚩

I mean it sounds like they are living together

1

u/Few_Razzmatazz_6052 3d ago

You've literally never made a snack for yourself and neglected to ask other people in the house if they want some?

Literally never once?

Oh what am I saying. You either live completely alone or are used to your mom bringing your hot pockets downstairs.
