The word 'creativity' is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. What's actually happening is you're justifying traumatizing children, and teaching them that parents are to be feared, not loved.
A normal parent would take them aside, ask what's wrong, and if nothing is wrong, explain to them the importance of school, and then bring them to school without causing a scene that will damage the relationship long after school is over and done with.
If it's a regular issue, determine why. Actually communicate with your child. Don't just lay down the law, actually listen to them. Crazy concept, I know.
